« Service good, rooms fairly average »

The staff were terrific but the gardens and rooms are not how I remembered them a few years ago and need a revamp

« Pleasant »

The rooms were comfortable but the bathrooms needed to be cleaned more thoroughly. Pool and foyer were lovely and staff pleasant.

« relaxing »

Service was very good and friendly from front desk through to restaurant staff. Just a couple of things that maybe could be worked on...The open air reception through to the swimming pool area is absolutely gorgeous but our party of four struggled to find lounges to laze on by the pool. If it had not been for a guest who told us that despite having towels on a couple they had been empty for ages we would not have found any. We nestled down to a gorgeous spot AFTER we cleared the area of empty glasses, serviettes, dirty towels. It was obvious that there were a lot of spots that hadn't been cleared. Maybe staff could be reminded of this. I realise that the restaurant had had a large group of students for a meal so they may have been preoccupied. BUT, this is such a welcoming area...think you need more chairs and lounges! Our room was comfy but not large and yet our booking sheet had labelled it a "superior queen" (I don't think so.) Ours was only an overnight stay but it was still very relaxing.

« Always friendly, always clean »

This is always a great hotel. The cleanliness of the rooms is excellent, beds comfortable and the staff are very pleasant. As per my last review, the white coffee from the machine at breakfast is not good. I now just take black coffee from the machine and add milk, so it's not an issue for me anymore. I was also surprised to discover that Wi-Fi in the room is charged for. Other than that, no complaints at all.

really good experience but difficult to find room at night and coffee in the morning was terrible

« The cabins consistently have a mildew smell. »

Other than the issue with the room, the hotel serves its purpose for the very short time I stay.

« Relaxing »

We had a late flight to Sydney so the late check out was great. Friendly and helpful staff at reception and in the dining room.

The hotel provided an excellent facility to enjoy a relaxing time in the Top End. It was suitably located and easily accessible and provided a range of excellent facilities.

« Average »

Found room Looking “tired”. Broken handle on outdoor stirs, , no water glasses just wine glasses, 1 tea bag for 2 occupants., 1 chair on outside deck, no table as in others. Dining room carpet shabby Shower floor needs a scrub Have stayed in the past but time and use have taken their toll !

« Comfortable and refreshing stay »

I have stayed at the hotel many times over quite a few years now. I felt this stay the hotel has come full circle. I had been disappointed in the last few stays with the quality and care for the hotel and its guests but this last stay I feel like it has returned to being a welcoming environment. The staff were skilled and friendly, the new Bistro much more serviceable and user friendly and most of all the time and care put back into the gardens is evident and long overdue. Thanks for reminding me why I have continued to stay there over the years and I look forward to future stays.

Dear Deb, We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Mercure Darwin Airport Resort. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback, especially about the changes we are currently making to improve the service. We admit it has taken a long time to resort the gardens after the cyclone that caused a large amount of work for our garden team; however they have persevered and were stoked to hear the lovely feedback. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one. Sincerely, Belinda Blanchard Rooms Division Manager

« ok »

Everything was fine really except when i go to reception desk always waiting - i must admit i do not have a lot of patience - however when arriving and tired it's annoying. I did get an upgrade and the suite was good. Fridge in room looked old and unstable. Directions to the room given by receptionist was poor. Go through that pool gate past the bar and out another gate and you will find it - it took me 15 minutes to find room which was upstairs with only one stair entry point. It was dark - no lights and i really though i was entering the laundry facility. During my stay I also noticed other people struggling to find exit point out of the pool area. Receptionis also agreed to hook me up with free intenet as i was already an Accor member. did not happen because could not find my membership number on the front desk computer. I am surprised it does not com up under name of guest and aI had statyed at this hotel previously in recent times.

« Just OK »

Letting the experience down was noisy neighbors and bugs in my bed. Also, whilst checking in I noticed paperwork showing that someone had paid almost $100 less per night than me to be in a bungalow room.

Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence. We run on a dynamic pricing structure and often have specials from time to time. I can see your agent booked you on the corporate rate for the first two nights, however the public rate for the third night. Another reasoning could have been this guest was a platinum or gold member; which receive a complimentary upgrade. I hope this answers your query. « Not great. »

Firstly, I would like to say that your staff are AMAZING. It was your reception and management staff that really stopped me from giving a rating of 1. The location and the grounds are also great, its the perfect spot next to the airport and for me travelling for business it was nice and central. However, the rooms. When I first arrived my room was clean, dated, but at least tidy with wifi. Though nothing near a 4 star standard, I would say its pushing 2. When I went to have a shower, there was no water. At all. It was bone dry. So I contacted reception and the manager and driver came out and checked and then promptly moved me to a vacant room opposite my original room. The next room, had the noisiest air conditioner in the world and I struggled to sleep. I think I managed about 2 hours maximum. Considering I had arrived from Melbourne and had business the next morning at 9am I wasn't too impressed. Around 4am the air conditioning unit emitted a high pitched shriek that woke me from my 2 hours of sleep with me trying to figure out where the noise was coming from. Figured it was the air conditioner, turned it off. The shrieking noise stopped. Can't sleep or function without air conditioning so I turned it back on. The shrieking noise didn't return, but neither did my ability to sleep for the rest of the morning. I ended up getting out of bed and having a shower around 5am, then headed over for breakfast. The manager had given me a complimentary breakfast for the inconvenience of moving rooms, did I mention that your staff are amazing? After breakfast I considered the room and made the decision that I can no longer stay at the Mercure. I would either need a refund or a better room. So I went to reception and spoke to one of the staff who was very understanding and found me a room all before 7am mind you that I could move into straight away. She had arranged an upgraded room in one of the resort suites. I was very appreciative! The new room was great, air conditioner not noisy, spacious and car parking right outside. However, the room itself was not clean. At all. There was tea or coffee (?) stains on the tiles near the sink, a dubious mark on the toilet wall and floor, the toilet brush was filthy as was behind the door. There was also a mark on my bedspread, which I still don't know what it is, it looked like blood, or food - I really don't know. There was another dubious white stain on the lounge... Anyway, I didn't complain about this as I feel like I had complained enough and I had moved rooms twice by that stage. Overall my experience really was below average. I travel a lot for business and stay in 4 star hotels regularly. Unfortunately, I found that the Mercure at Darwin Airport didn't really fit the standard that I am used to. As mentioned many times, the staff are excellent, the location is excellent. The actual lodgings need work/updating and the cleaners need to actually clean.

The service was fantastic. I object to paying for my credit card being used as security when we paid in cash for everything. I will not get caught again.

« Brilliant. »

I arrived really late in fact early on the Tuesday morning from a long flight out of Melbourne. The receptionist was brilliant and very helpful, the room when walking in was welcoming and the ac was already on. I was instantly comfortable. The hospitality and the food was beautiful. I look forward to coming back.
