I come frequently to Brazil (every 4 months for business) and I love your hotel very much for the pure beauty and aesthetic of the grounds. I would plan to stay here every time I am in Rio, if it wasn't for one very terrible detail... Why is there depictions of SLAVERY everywhere in the hotel? I noticed it on my sheets, the slavery scene... Then again in the room I got a massage: one depiction of a SLAVE SHIP and another of a SLAVE MARKET... ! Then again I started paying attention, and noticed in the lobby more "artwork" depicting slavery... What is the point of this? Completely bad taste. This is not a history museum. It's a hotel. Do you think in Poland the hotels have pictures of gas chambers with Jews in them? No. This is completely racist and disgusting, the entire massage all I could think about were the two atrocities on the wall depicting a shameful period in Brazil and the world's history. There is a very fine line between where art becomes unnecessarily grotesque and unnecessary and I think your hotel crosses the line. Completely. I could never return to a place that so proudly displays these atrocities.

Overall, great. The staff helped us organise trips to the Christ the Redeemer and the Sugarloaf. They also assisted with restaurant recommendations which were all great. I also has a spa treatment which was very relaxing.

The hotel is nice and well located with an excellent view and good facilities. However the service is extremely poor. I wonder why it is rated as a 5 star hotel. The service is that of a 3 star hotel. Service agents don't know anything about Rio and are not at all helpful.

It was pleasant but nothing surprised or special about the hotel... The balcony we had at the room was to open, people from the streets could see our bath tub... the towels and linen was poor condition, as well where the TV is positioned on the bedroom

Amazing experience. The staff was so nice. Juan so personable and attentive. Natalie and Victor in the front desk were a delight and so helpful. The pool bar guys were super. Patricia and all the boys at Tereze made us feel so welcomed. All the wait staff and bartenders at Descasados made our visits always fun. Paola and Bruno gave us the best massages and facial in a personal but professional way. Going back to the hotel after a day exploring the city or a day at the beach was always a breath of fresh air: the hotel is a slice of paradise. One point we kept saying to ourselves about the hotel, is that unlike many other Brazilian hotels we have stayed at, the folks at Santa Tereza Hotel always said “yes” to our requests. Whatever we asked for, they made it happen. Always! Nothing was too much trouble for them. Way to go!!! A few points to improve: many couples were unhappy with a few unruly children at the pool. I asked management to address the situation, but it was not immediately addressed. Most guests at the pool were appalled at the children playing “marco polo” in a loud manner, taking over the pool for a long time. I ended up having to deal with the situation myself, having to address the children and asking them to quiet down. As a guest, I should not be the one having to deal with this type of nuisance, it should be the management and it should have been addressed immediately. It was unnecessary stress for me to go through on my vacation. Maybe there should be a few pool “rules” such as no noise from games allowed in respect to other guests. Secondly, the pool area could use some sort of music. They did have speakers in the pool area. We asked for the music to be turned on, one person told us the music was off because people always asked for the music to be off ao they could sleep at the pool (which we found odd)... another person told us the music was off because of static noise from the speakers (which we found out was the truth). The hotel is not a cheap place to stay, I am sure they could afford to invest in quality outdoor speakers. Get on it and create a nice environment around your amazing pool!!! The AC in the room was not very efficient on warmer days. Some guests were allowed to smoke right by the lobby entrance. The lobby connects to the rooms’ hallways and is 100% open to the outdoors. The cigarette smoke filled the common area which had a beautiful smell prior to the smokers being allowed to puff by the entrance: there should be a smoking policy enforced. These are a few points for improvement. But overall we really did enjoy our stay. Thank you and hope to see you all again soon!!!

We had a great time at the M Gallery on our honeymoon, the staff were exceptional and the services were excellent (especially breakfast and spa services). Juan, the general manager was really helpful in suggesting ideas for things to do in Rio especially over new years eve (thank you, Juan!) and Natalie was great on the front desk attending to all our needs.

The hotel grounds are nice and pretty. However, the service falls short for a hotel that is labeled boutique/5 stars. Here are some examples: (1) We arrived at 8 pm on a Friday and were accompanied to our room by the receptionist. There was a technician leaving the room at the same time and the receptionist had to confirm with the technician whether our room was ready (I wonder if our room would've been ready if we arrived before 8 pm...). (2) After showering on our first night we realized there weren't any bath towels in our room. (3) There wasn't toilet paper in the reception bathroom. (4) For NYE, the hotel offered a van to the subway, but no other alternative was made available. I'd think they would be able to offer other types of transportation (for cost, of course), or at least refer us to a travel agent able to provide these services (I know other hotels in Rio do). Pros: Breakfast was great. No mosquitoes in our bedrooms. Pool area is nice.

Was a bit disappointed upon arrival. Found the garden and pool area tired looking, unkempt and messy. Once inside all brightened up. Inside is impeccable. Invest in a better gardener and have the lawn mowed in the back part of the hotel.

My stay was nearly perfect...my only complaint is the air conditioning, which is a bit weak for my taste, although I am American and I understand we typically like it colder than most. Aside from that, my stay was lovely. The staff at the hotel are wonderful, warm people who treat guests well.

We had a great time at the MGallery Santa Teresa, the staff has been very pleasant with us, helping with all our requirements and our difficulties to get a taxi for the airport. The hotel's decoration is as expected, very intimate and brazilian-like, massive wood furnitures and warm atmosphere. Particularly, we enjoyed the pool having a view on the city center, and the wonderul lounge bar in the basement of the hotel, with a view, as well!
