« Very good central hotel in Ostend. »

I had a very nice week at this hotel. Very comfortable room, convenient for the centre of town + beach. I would go back. Staff were friendly, with nice bar. However, there was something of an over-keenness for the cleaning staff to come into my room uninvited. Three times in the week the cleaner came in without knocking. While I was in bed. Had a reasonably extended conversation with her on one occasion before she would leave. Creepy? Or perhaps just Belgian? Probably could be avoided by greater use of the 'do not disturb' sign, although I hadn't anticipated the need at 9am. I didn't eat in the hotel, but found several nice restaurants nearby.

« Great staff, location in Oostende »

With Mercure Hotels, you expect more than an Ibis and less than a Pullman, always comparable to Novotel in quality but usually hotels with character or a non traditional corporate layout that of Novotel always has. Rooms were smaller than expected but had all items needed, big city downtown location meant parking at a premium, pricey but but we needed a secure spot with rental and golf clubs and they provided that. Staff was most helpful at check in and to help sort car park and late night dining for us. Easy access to all of Oostende sites and attractions, wish we had longe to enjoy. the staff though made this a good experience for us and our stay. Many thanks to them.

Second time in this hotel. Small room very clean but need bed replacement. Reasonable buffet breakfast. Need to request dinner before 5 pm for dining after 6:30 pm, more than sufficient for light dinner.

We were promised 'priority' check-in - the receptionist didn't even acknowledge us until I spoke, and then he told me to wait as he needed to log onto his system. The beds are a joke, so soft it feels like you're on a water bed. 'Priority' check-out - "just drop the card in the box" they said. No box to be seen, had to queue as only one receptionist on duty.

« worst stay after 26 years of visiting »

I have visited this hotel for the past 26 years and I have seen it change namaes 5 times . I have been visiting 5 - 6 times a year , and everytime i stayed it was first rate , always staying on the fifth floor front balcony room , but this time the room I was in was sub standard very small and very smelly of sewers and when this was pointed out to the desk staff they told me that it was due to the weather . BUT STILL I SLEPT IN A SMELLY UNCLEAN ROOM AND PAID THE FULL PRICE . THE BREAKFAST AS USUAL WAS GREAT AND THE BREAKFAST STAFF WONDERFUL .

The superior room was not superior at all...it was very small, the same for the bathroom. The bed was as hard as stone. Personel was friendly and breakfast very good which should be for 20 euro/ person.

First time in this hotel, it was a great choice, warm welcome, small but good room with a nice terrace, the weather cooperating. Simple but complete breakfast buffet. also had dinner one evening, it was good. Hotel also provides private parking (at a cost). Will return!

This Mercure has all that you would expect and at the top end of the normal Mercure standards. Only one detail - the LIFT is small and it serves 9 floors plus the basement. Often it is a long wait that is made longer by the positioning of the second control panel with very large buttons on the right hand side. They are easily sat upon or leaned against causing the lift to stop at several unnecessary floors. This happened to us three times during a one night stay. Easy to fix - take out the offending panel of extra buttons and use the normal ones on the left had side panel.

« Don't stay here if you want a quiet hotel and a good nights sleep »

Nearly all rooms are close to the lifts. The lifts are quiet, but what you will hear from 06.00 is doors banging shut loudly until midnight. Rooms have wooden floors so you also get to hear the people above you. For 100 Euro's plus per night you might also expect the cleaning staff to at least empty the bin each day but not in this hotel. If you are lucky they may clean the room properly every 3 days . So if you want to get a good night's sleep - book another hotel.

When visiting the family back in Ostend, we use the Mercure hotel as our home base. Convenient location close to the city centre, public transport and taxi stop. Rooms are rather small and matresses are way too soft. Overall a tad too expensive.

My wife and i used this hotel as a convenient stopping off point on a journey from Calais to Germany. We stayed just one night and were lucky enough to find a car parking space right outside the hotel and to be given an upgrade. Our room was on the seventh floor and was very comfortable indeed and attractively decorated, with a view out onto the square below which was illuminaated for Christmas. We had a drink in the bar, a draught Leffe Brun and a red wine but didnt take breakfast the following morning. It was a fleeting visit but we knew from a previous visit to Ostend that this hotel was handily placed had we wanted to stay and look around.

we stayed at this hotel, for the first time, for a Christmas markets stay, using it as a base. the staff were friendly and efficient, which is always good. the breakfast was varied, fresh and there was plenty of it. a special mention must be made about the young man replenishing the food and clearing the tables, he was quick, efficient, and "on the go" all the time. no sooner had someone vacated a table, he was there clearing and cleaning, well done! the menu for an evening meal was the only issue that let this hotel down, not much variety, which is a shame to an otherwise nice hotel.

Efficient but not friendly....not much of a welcome after 7 hours of travelling. ? because we were English post brexit or just city centre brusqueness. Either way if anywhere else had twin rooms would try elsewhere. Soft beds, outside noise, too expensive after refit...better as the old Ramada.

We booked and paid for a superior room a 2 months prior to our stay, on our arrival we booked in, went to our superior room opened the door to find a very small room and bathroom with a scruffy balcony facing a building 10 metres away, the room was on the 5th floor and as I suffer with vertigo .it was of little use, all the other superior rooms we saw on the same floor where at least 50% larger. As wee where staying 4 nights we asked to move rooms but they said they where full ,the next day a couple of room became empty but no move was offered. They spoilt what had been a nice holiday. I used my Accor card when I booked and was let down for the first time by Mecure hotels

We had a superior room with a city view. Room was clean and tidy although the bathroom was very small. Tea and coffee was provided however, paper cups were very poor. Lifts were sometimes slow. Breakfast was ok although on some mornings there were items that were unavailable ie breakfast tea, muesli, mushrooms

« Nice hotel shame we were getting knocks on the door in the middle of the night »

Last night in Europe after a jaunt through many countries through Europe. just wanted to rest and I couldn't sleep due to the constant commotion in the hall and knocks at the door throughout the night. No secure parking either so had to park in the public car park even though when booking I had been advised otherwise.
