« The hotel needs updating - beds are not comfortable, our bathroom had a badly cracked floor and rooms are noisy »

We stayed here in July, and I was surprised at the negative comments I found about the hotel. This time, however, I was disappointed - the room, while of a good size, had a hard bed, something I commented about on the last stay. However, the bathroom was badly in need of redecoration - the floor was badly cracked and the bath needs renewing. Towels and toiletries were good. Generally, the hotel looks in need of a facelift. Corridors look dirty, which I think is just because the tiles are old and worn. On this occasion, the aircon didn't work - in fact the temperature in the room went up overnight! Worst for us was the sounds from neighbouring rooms - people walking in heeled shoes, talking, laughing, arguing, and also out in the corridor - all in the early hours of the morning. By contrast, we stayed at the Ibis in Salamanca the following night, which was very good - clean, modernised, soundproofed, blackout curtains, etc - everything for a good night's sleep. We like the Mercure Rio, the staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant good and convenient. It does, however, needs some work.

We had the Priviledge Room. The entire studio was freezing cold and couldn't change the temperature. The lounge was separate from the Bedroom. Bathroom reminded me of a Palacio Bathroom in deco - Facilities were kept to minimum. All was quite clean. Parking was good.

Everything was fine except for one thing. I asked for a room with a river view. Even though the hotel was almost empty on the Sunday night, I was given a room without a sea view.

Well located located, with good parking facilities. Swimming pool is a plus, but small and with very few space to have a rest. Rooms are completely outdated. Lots of noise (children) coming from other rooms also.

Too hot in August but room is well-conditioned, walk availabilty of old bridge and fortress. Nice clean river, walking zone aroud it and of course gooses on it and all these are close to hotel ).

No complaints - if there is one thing as an older guest I would like, it would be a more comfortable mattress. Otherwise, location, restaurant, parking, aircon in rooms all very good.

Very poor bed. Plumbing pipes vibrating in middle of the night. Breakfast Average. Coffee Terrible. Mercure is normally rated 4star and the standard is fairly good. This one is rated 3star ??? (By Who?)

I stayed here in March 2017 and complained then and told the rooms and hotel would be updated to reflect the Mercure brand. Well I stayed again in December 2017 and nothings changed. If anything, the rooms are even more gloomy and old fashioned. Come on Mercure. New beds, New Flooring and especially New Bathrooms. Reception needs a complete overhaul and lightening up a lot. It's just an independent hotel using the Mercure Brand and doing so badly. It should be branded as a formel 1.

This Mercury is old and pricy for its current conditions Needs renovating: Dark room, almost no light. No heating in room. Heating only in toilet. No air conditioning for warm or cold. Room therefore fresh, but corridors warm!!! Should be other way around.
