It was amazing. Every aspect - from check in, to welcome drinks at the bar through to check out. Staff were phenomenal. The room was beautiful. Spacious and just functionally amazing. Was extremely well priced.

« Very Pleasant Stay. Great location »

I stayed here with my wife and newborn son for 3 nights in September. The hotel is very new - only open for 4 months - and so everything is in great shape. The rooms are well appointed, with the higher levels having great views across Musgrave Park out to the west of Brisbane. The location is great, with plenty of cafe's and restaurants within easy walking distance. Special thanks must go to Sally, who was doing housekeeping for our floor. Upon learning that we had a newborn, she went out of her way to help us - waiting until we went out to tidy our room, promising to have it done before we returned (which she always did), providing extra towels and amenities (or anything else we needed), and even leaving a note of congratulations for my wife and I, as well as some snacks and activities for our 2 daughters who were with us for some of the trip. Excellent service!

« Overall the experience was good, however I do feel that the hotel was understaffed at times »

On a couple of occasions the bar was unattended despite there being patrons (including myself) waiting to be served. I also saw during some busy periods that only one bar tender was present which put tremendous load on that individual and even when there was two staff. Their service manner was good, but there just seemed to be a shortage of waitstaff and that's not just from an alcohol point of view, it was general.

Good points: - I like that the hotel is new and clean - The bathroom is clean, shower area is clean with no mould on grout - Toilet are is clean - The bed was comfortable - I like the breakfast and the lobby area with self serving water for guests Need improvement: - Shower water pressure was not that great, but could be a Brisbane water saving thing - It would be better if the room had hard floor rather than carpet - I would prefer leather or leather like sofa and bed frame rather than fabric based

« I was dissappointed as I expected a better experience from Novotel. »

I was given a disabled room and not advised of such at check-in. As a result the sink had virtually no room for anything of mine. I found a half used can of deodorant clearly left by a previous occupant beside the sink in the bathroom. I found a toenail on one of the chairs. I ordered a room service meal comprising mint and pea pasta, beef taretare and chocolate tart. The beef taretare gave me food poisoning the next morning. As a person trained in food safety I'm guessing that the beef had not been handled correctly. The pasta was bland but the chocolate tart was nice. At my first morning's breakfast downstairs I had a continental breakfast. The layout of the breakfast was confusing and illogical. The fruit was far and away separated from the cereals and muesli/yoghurt across the other side of the room. When I approached the fruit area, half the bowls were empty making me think that the fruit was elsewhere. The condiment area for the bread was very small and the display of peanut butter/jams etc. was unusual being displayed in large bowls with a knife sticking out for general use. I would think this is not a good from a hygiene perspective.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious. Location was good, however better footpaths would make an easier path of travel to South Bank.

The room was very nice and staff were friendly. Our only dissapointment came when we were upgraded on arrival from a queen bed to two doubles. Whilst the upgrade was wonderful, the smaller bed made for a very uncomfortable sleep. Overall our stay was good and we will stay again.

The room was very well appointed and expertly designed to make it feel more spacious than the size would normally allow. The staff were always very helpful and responsive if a little thin on the ground. Phones sometimes took a while to be answered. A couple of points 1. The Airconditioning was quite hard to get right. 2. None of the pillows were very comfortable. All too thick. No down pillow available. 3. The room service menu was very limited and expensive. Very helpful team though.

« Incorrect charges disappointing »

Second time staying here and I like the hotel. Being new everything is modern and in good condition. The rooms are spacious and well laid out. Particularly like the bathroom set up with sliding doors. Reception staff friendly. Good selection for breakfast although I could not find any fruit yoghurt only plain unsweetened. Was overcharged for breakfast and for minibar I did not use which was the downside.

My comments are not isolated to this stay it is a pattern, this is a great location but the basics in service is missing. Staff is very friendly, I have stayed in this hotel since opening day. My colleagues no longer stay at this hotel. I will no longer stay at this hotel. 1. Order room service breakfast, you actually have to call to get a breakfast door knob order form, they are not in the room. 2. Order Breakfast with a 7 - 7.20 delivery window, breakfast turns up at 7.40 when i was leaving to check out. (Not the first time) 3. Get laundry done, laundry list says delivered back by 6pm, have to call at 9pm asking for laundry to be delivered (not the first time) 4. Use the water in the min bar, never replenished, as is the milk, every stay. 5. Only beer and wine available in the mini bar, no set drinks. 6. Hard to make a reservation directly with the hole, press the reservations ext number no one answers. Sorry to be blunt, i stay in hotels 5 nights a week, this is not a place i will be recommending to my direct reports to stay at.

« Disappointing »

Check in was prolonged due to booking with Expedia was not in the hotel system. Someone opened my door as I was getting out of the shower- didn’t see who it was as was so embarrassed and had to grab my towel. One receptionist told me I would receive member discount on room service food only to later find out it’s not correct. Found thick black hair in the bircher muesli at breakfast. I could not connect to the conference wifi on the first afternoon of the seminar which rendered that whole session useless. No spoons left to eat with at the provided afternoon tea. Overall disappointing for Novotel.
