Apon entering my room there was an adjoining door with a key lock. A couple was the other side. All night I could hear word for word what they were saying along with their TV and washing of cups etc. I had a stressful day ahead of me the next morning and this wasn't helpful atall. The grout in the shower was grotty looking and a big iron burn on the carpet wasn't a nice sight to see.

The room was adequate however there was a wet patch across the floor near the kettle the curtain didn't fit the window so let early light into the room. The food was very average for the type of Hotel, the starter was patently from Break brothers or similar, the main course Lamb was tough and unappealing. In my experience it is as easy to cook something well as it is to cook food badly.

Lovely area.

All the staff were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, our room became very hot. The thermostat did not work and there was no one around to fix this. The window did not open so unable to get any fresh air, which seemed a bit ironic as the hotel is situation in the middle of a lovely park. We decided not to move rooms until the morning but, I did not get a very good sleep as kept waking up because of the heat. We were moved to an annex, which was a bit of a task as we had several bags and there was not lift. The room was fine but the balcony had not been cleaned this year, lots of moss etc. growing. The reason we picked your hotel was because dogs are welcome. This was very much appreciated.

Disappointing Anniversary

Customer review rating 3.9/5

Tamara Couples - 06/10/2019 AccorHotels review

Disappointing weekend. Food was average, drinks overpriced, spa run down and desperate need of refurb. There was only a small steam room and sauna with no jacuzzi. The swimming pool was also very cold and not enough beds for all guests. The spa messed up my treatment booking from 12.45 to 5pm without letting me know and let me sit waiting to be seen until I went downstairs half an hour after my appointment was booked for. We had planned to go out the rest of the afternoon so was just left with no treatment but the offer of a refund for the treatment only. This was upsetting as I specifically booked a spa hotel for our anniversary weekend. Our room was ok, lovely view as we were in the original building. The drain in the shower needed unblocking as the bathroom almost flooded. My partner also badly hurt his foot due to the marble step between the bedroom and bathroom with no warning. The first night, the restaurant was fully booked so had to eat our food in the bar which was not ideal - we were not advised to book a table when we checked in. Will not be recommending this hotel and will not be returning.

There were lots of rats running around the bins.when reported I was told they could not do anything bout it. Kept us waiting over an hour in spa for a booked treatment. Food on 2nd night was dry. There was a bottle of bubbly paid for to be in our room in an ice bucket and a card as a surprise for us as we were celebrating just got married . It was put in mini bar with no card so not used by us as we thought if we used it we would be charged from.mini bar. It has still not been refunded to my mum.

Getting there late 20-30, only bar food , two slices of bread , for a sandwich, going to my allocated room to discover it was occupied! Then in the morning having a cold buffet breakfast, not the best experience!

First Superior room offered was up in the roof, many stairs, and was very cold (it was September!!) as if it had not been used lately. Heating did not work, phoned and got a new room allocated by Reception. Excellent and helpful service from assistant housekeeping manager. Breakfast and dinner was very good. The bar and restaurant were welcoming and pleasant. The superior room in the Hall was very dated, although it was an old building it needs a lot of TLC to bring it to the standard of the bar & restaurant.

Ok as a hotel, but definitely not a spa!

The hotel was okay and the room was adequate. We booked this on the spur of the moment through groupon, unfortunately without checking the reviews first. I wanted my husband to experience a spa as I go regularly with my friends but he has never been. It was a big mistake picking this hotel for a first time spa experience. At best it is a hotel with a pool. When we arrived at the spa I expected to be given a dressing gown, only to be told that only people who had booked treatments received a gown!! I have been to many spas and always had a gown, treatment or no treatment. The changing rooms and pool area are very shabby looking with dirty grouting on the tiles. There is no hot tub/jacuzzi, just a steam room and sauna, both of which are not very pleasant. We literally spent about 40 mins in the ‘spa’ area. In the evening we had booked for dinner, we both chose the Indian option, which was akin to an Asda meal for two in a bag, actually not as nice as the Asda one!! The desert was quite nice. The room was adequate and the bed was comfortable, although would have liked to have been able to open our window, but this was sealed shut. Breakfast the following morning was very good with plenty of choice. We had a lovely walk round the grounds, there is no denying that the estate is lovely. In summary, I think they need to do a lot of work on their leisure facilities to be able to sell themselves as a spa hotel. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

Walton Hall, faded glory

Colin J Couples - 03/10/2019 TripAdvisor review

We have stayed at Walton Hall (the house) over the last 10 years on and off, combined with a trip to the RSC its a great weekend end away. This time was a bit disappointing, the room we had was nice, clean, big, good views over the chapel. The grounds are great, all the wild foul, the walks, and a nice time of year to visit. The Service was good, food at dinner (we had a package deal) was good, the service was good. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to shout about either. But clearly some cost saving decisions have been made, the Hall has no check in, it has no bar, it has no soul, its just rooms. The meals are taken in the new hotel situated behind the Hall, reception for the complex and dining is there also. Previously it was nice to take a drink in the conservatory bar before dinning in the Hall. I think in summary, its a lovely place to visit, it just lacks the things it used to have, the things that made a great experience. Its now focused on functions and weddings, selling the Hall rooms out as a means to an end. it needs work too, our first room leaked from the ceiling during heavy rain. I hope it can survive, it doesn't feel to great at the moment though, it needs someone to care about it.

The hotel and food was lovely . when i booked treatments. I was told on the phone that we would have a back massage together in the same room at the same time . When we got to the spa I told the receptionist we booked in for a massage at 3.45 . She said the massage had been booked wrong there is only one treatment room . I had my massage at 4 pm. My husband had his at 4.30pm. I was disappointed as it wasnt what I expected. It was was for our 15th wedding Anniversary.

Gaynor M. Couples - 02/10/2019 AccorHotels review

Just stayed one night on the way home from a holiday. No criticisms at all. Good spacious room (even though only booked a standard room) with doors opening outside. Friendly and helpful staff. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent value. Also nice, relaxing bar area. Very dog friendly. Extensive grounds for dog walking. Dogs are allowed in the bar and so the staff set up our breakfast table there so our dog could come too! An all round pleasurable experience.
