My room was comfy and I slept well but there were some downsides to the hotel. I was not warned that I would need to book for dinner and went down at about 7pm. Despite the restaurant having lots of space, I was told I could not have a table for one. Many tables remained empty throughout my meal in the bar (accompanied by Britain's Got Talent on the TV... urghhh). Dinner was, however, very nice and the bar staff were lovely. I chose the hotel for its gym but it was really badly equipped with a hotch-potch of machines... some of the running machines weren't working at all and the locals were not surprised by this. V disappointing. Breakfast was uninspiring with tasteless, bland mushrooms and scrambled egg. I won't be rushing to return. Grim ill-equipped gym, no table for one in restaurant despite lots of space. Comfy room

Grounds beautiful, hotel tired, paintwork peeling, chair in room should have been in skip, spa also tired cracks in seat in steam room , sun beds dirty. Staff v good and helpful.

I was staying with family, one of whom needed an accessible room. The accessible room accommodation was excellent . We had a twin room which we had to change as the window latch was broken. This was done quickly and efficiently. However I was surprised it hadn’t been picked up by the maintenance team. All the rooms we saw had cheap leather look chairs with torn and worn covering which let down the otherwise high quality accommodation. In particular the bathroom, shower and bed quality were good. The dining room was pleasant. Very limited choice of quite ordinary food for the half board tariff. However the staff were friendly and efficient and made the overall dining experience enjoyable. Wine overpriced. The parkland setting was amazing and the location was very convenient. Overall I would recommend the hotel at the special ‘Secret Escapes’ tariff.

The hotel was very pleasant. The room was satisfactory although the radiator in the bathroom didn't work. This wasn't a problem as the heated mirror kept the bathroom warm. The meals in the restaurant were very good. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Sonia in the restaurant.

Easy check in, nice room, lovely breakfast in the orangery then in the hall for the day after the wedding. Staff were all really fantastic on the day of my friend’s wedding. Lovely grounds, wish I had more time to explore. My son liked the pool.

We stayed here for two nights for a wedding. Overall, we enjoyed it our stay! The beds were very comfy and the shower was perfect! Full on power shower - fab! The dining experience on the first evening was great (we were at a wedding for the second eve) and the service was superb! The bar did not have baileys however and ran out of port (also using a cooking port rather than a decent LBV) - perhaps stock the bar a little better! Both breakfasts were spot on for what was available, though I was confused as to why there were slices of congealed Brie and Cheddar! If you’re going to do continental, perhaps have the cheese to order! I was grateful for the spa facilities but they were a little grubby/run down and dirty! The thing that was most frustrating was the fact that the window in the room did not open and I like a breeze when sleeping! All that said, if needed, I would stay here again!

Enjoyed the hotel immensely the bar is nice and well stocked, the staff friendly, food was nice, the breakfast in the morning was lovely and there was a variety. The swimming pool was also a lovely addition and we enjoyed swimming. Beautiful grounds. Would stay again.

Wonderful location, staff and food but disappointing spa

We were 4 women on a girls spa weekend. The staff were absolutely amazing, the food was great and the main part of the hotel was nice. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Our room in the ‘stables’ was comfortable but it was a let down with a wall heater that didn’t work ( we were provided with a free standing heater), 4 out of 6 bulbs blown in bathroom, hair dryer that was scary to use ( making some very strange noises) and crumbling window frames that didn’t close properly. The spa was very disappointing. Pool wasn’t very warm, no Jacuzzi and totally inadequate number of loungers around the pool, meaning four of us shared 2 loungers a chair and one sat on a coffee table, all of which we had to gather from around the pool and put into a cramped corner. They were short on robes so those of us with no treatments booked had to do without. We stayed only about an hour and left ... we were glad the spa was not our only reason to be there as it would have been a total waste. As an additional annoyance our room key kept stopping working which seemed to be a problem among other guests too.

We stayed in Warwick house the shower didn't work in the ensuite and the heater in the lounge. Reception staff seemed confused with checking in and both at check-in and check out I had to explain to the gentleman at the desk that the amount he said was owing was the reward points I was claiming back.

Relaxing but not luxury

The surroundings were gorgeous and we were served by lots of friendly staff. The room was small but very comfortable and what we needed. A few more milks would have been useful but that is a tiny point. We wanted to relax in the spa with our books but the loungers weren’t overly comfy as there were no cushions and neither were we given robes or slippers so it was a little cool. The pool was very attractive but extremely cold even for the children in it. The sauna was fine for the two of us but would have been cramped with more but the steam room was excellent. What was most disappoint8ng was the cleanliness. The floor was dirty around most of the spa areas and there were hoses left out. The coffee area was also messy and the water dispenser empty. The attendant on the desk wasnt around to tell. It was fine for us as we had only paid £49 each and the spa wasn’t the main point of our stay, but otherwise I would have been disappointed. The meal was okay with a limited menu on our deal. The bar snacks looked better and I would have preferred 2 courses of better food than the 3 courses on our deal. Unfortunately the waiter tipped curry over me which could have spoilt our meal if we had let it. These things happen but he wasn’t really sure how to deal with it. A quicker apology and a swift move to a different table would have been better than leaving me standing while he did a rapid clean up. The rice was actually still stuck to the floor at breakfast the next day. I also expected some offer such as a free drink but there was nothing. I will wait to see if the curry stain comes out of my trousers which were rather expensive and were worn for the first time. I have left some feedback at the hotel as staff training (for some) and a mop would have made a huge difference to our stay. I think your hotel could be wonderful with very few changes and then I would definitely return.

We had no heating system that worked for our duration, a bath that leaked, dozens of dead flies in our room for the duration and were very rudely spoken to at breakfast as we were under 2 minutes late but people walking in same time as us were welcomed on. This was all during my sisters wedding.

Food and service not great

On the first night we had a family meal at the restaurant and an hour or so later I was vomiting profusely due to the meal. I ordered room service for breakfast for my daughter as we had a family wedding that day and she needed breakfast before preparations but this arrived 30 mins late and not all the ordered items were present. On calling the restaurant to enquire about the breakfast the person who answered hung up the phone on my with no explanation which i thought was rude. The lights near the door of the room didnt work making it difficult to get ready/use that area. Breakfast on the final morning was ok, but the plates/bowls etc were not clean and the staff present was very unhelpful and almost rude. Overall it was a shame as the venue was lovely for the family wedding, but the food and service spoiled this and meant I was unwell for the day of the wedding.

We were really looking forward to our first night away from our toddler since he was born, mostly looking forward to a peaceful night's sleep! We were placed in a room in Orchard Mews, that was near to the exit door, which had no soft close, and made the room vibrate when it swung shut behind people. People continued to use the door until 2am, and again from pre 7am. Terrible nights sleep.

Very shocked at the spa facilities, very run down and grubby. Also full of screaming kids when we arrived(I know they leave later). Lovely massage though and food, so we ended up turning our spa weekend into ‘time away’ and avoiding the spa. But lovely for country walks.

Lovely grounds and building. However spa was poor quality and our treatments previously booked were cancelled and 2 treatments were rearranged for us with a 6 hour gap. Massage room smells. Restaurant was good and food good. Was expecting a little more from the room especially for price.
