Not up to 4* standard

Although the staff were amazing the organisation of rooms was disappointing. We had to wait until after 4 for it to be ready and then it was set up as a double rather than a twin. It was dealt with very efficiently by reception

Happy occasion but disappointing meal

Sally F. Families - 11/09/2019 AccorHotels review

We were part of a group of 11 ( a family group). The setting is lovely and we liked the outdoor spaces. Our rooms were ok although some external refurbishment is required and a few minor repairs inside. The staff were helpful and friendly. However the quality of the food was poor considering it wasn’t cheap. This celebratory meal was the centrepiece of our stay and for £28pp we would have hoped for more: no bread on table, no jug of water, bland risotto, with few ingredients, fish cakes straight out of a packet and not fully heated through, mean portion of dessert without the ice cream ( as advertised), Eton Mess with only fruit sauce ( no fruit). Too many corners cut!

A lovely Victorian pile set in well tended countryside

Hb Couples - 11/09/2019 AccorHotels review

The superior room within the old buildings was very spacious, the 6 foot the was very comfortable, and the air conditioning was most welcome on the hotter days. The bathroom and shower is also luxurious (however the stone floor levels encouraged run-off water to exit through the door into the room's carpet). The daytime staff were very helpful. Evening food poor, breakfast good. Gardens and landscape excellent and very well tended. Dogs seemed welcome but were not noticeable or problematic for non-dog guests. However, night staff did not give much of a stuff. Phones rang for long time unanswered, the person adjacent's shower was continually cold and the night staff did not want to know. The Hotel's recommended taxi firm, "we have negotiated a special Hotel rate and have excellent connections", was very expensive ie £20 for 3 miles. On return from the event the taxi would not allow a taxi share with another couple, and still charged £20, the driver wanted to charge more but our annoyance was evident.

Lovely experience

Ground floor room requested, elderly relatives put upstairs.

Anonymous Families - 11/09/2019 AccorHotels review

Everything fine, early Sunday cooked breakfast, all good. I had requested a ground floor room for elderly friends to stay in. They are in their 80's. The lady has dementia and needs support to get about. That request was ignored and they were placed upstairs and had to use a lift. A frightening experience for her that could have been avoided.

very good

Lots of Potential But Sadly Dissapointing

We stayed in the 'Old House' and the staff kindly moved our room because of a wedding taking place, the room was amazing but the TV in the bedroom was broken and despite numerous requests was never fixed in the three days we were there. The room also needed a bit of TLC and had dead flies all over the windows that were never cleaned.

Perfect hotel experience

Only aspect which was not so good was that breakfast finished abruptly at 10.00am in the house where we were staying ( was it the Hall?) for the wedding and food was taken away and doors closed with no warning at all. Many of us thought breakfast on Sunday was up until 10.30 or 11am as stated in the guest information. I asked and was provided with cold bacon and congealed egg. Horrible. This spoilt an otherwise excellent stay.

Good blend of new and old

John W. Couples - 10/09/2019 AccorHotels review

I enjoyed the hotel in the main however there are areas of dissatisfaction I must call out. Areas like been given a room only to find it was already occupied. They didn’t seem amused and neither was I. The breakfast was very good but the evening meal was very 80s, frozen pate frozen brake bros chicken wings, soft popadums and crispy naan bread. This could be so so much more. The spa was ok. I unfortunately cut myself on a sharp edge of a door although given a plaster and a form to fill in( in the dirty little office behind the desk) no form of apology was offered. Neither was there an apology when the tea and coffee was not restocked nor when I was charged “tray” when ordering room service. As I said nearly very nice but the staff unfortunately let this whole hotel down. That is with the exceptions of the waitress Jess and the blonde receptionist that sorted the initial room issue.

Kate Couples - 09/09/2019 AccorHotels review

The grounds are lovely and the staff is friendly, but the hotel is very dated and clearly not very well cared for. There seem to be lack of care and attention (piles of laundry in the spa reception, cleaning items out in the open, mouldy doors, half open coffee bags spilling out everywhere in a freezing 'relaxation room' £1 coin lockers, etc. In a 4 star hotel, you would expect complimentary water in the room and an iron which has been cleaned every now and then, plus a ground floor room overlooking a car park meant that if you wanted privacy, you could not have any daylight. Perhaps a different type of blinds would be useful.

Lack of basic cleanliness in room, reported at reception twice, 3 days later room still not cleaned.

We stayed here two years ago, what a change. Midges (small flys) around breakfast bar, reported, also around bar area, reported. No attempt to resolve. Hair and food scraps in room, not hoovered in days, reported twice, still not done on checkout three days later. When checking out two panel vans parked back to back across entrance to reception delivering chairs, complained to duty manager, she could not understand that the convenience of paying customers took precedence over transporting chairs into the hotel.

Generally pleasant and satisfactory

Founf the electricity cut for more than an hour difficult. No help from the hotel. Loved the conservatory dining room. Meat meals too large a portion. Sometimes a long wait for service at meal times but waiters frIendly and helpful. Enjoyed the swimming pool. Appauled at the number of cigarette ends outside our room and lying around the grounds.

Whilst attending a wedding we stayed at Walton Hall hotel and were very impressed with the size and comfort of our room. We had our baby boy with us and the room was spacious to accommodate him and his many items and we were provided with a travel cot which was very useful! Lovely stay - would recommend.

Lovely location, good food, friendly staff.

Enjoyed our stay, room was big and comfortable. Grounds are gorgeous and our dog enjoyed a swim in the lake. We enjoyed the swimming pool too. Restaurant food is very good ,brilliant breakfast. No hotel information available, had to look it up on wickipaedia to find out the interesting history. Tried to contact hotel directly to ask about bringing our dog. Told we had to use the internet, but no box available to say we wanted to bring the dog.Added to a free text box.

Cosy beds, clean facilities and friendly staff. Sauna was out of use for the weekend so we were unable to utilise the facilities to the full extent. Spa could have been more organised but get massages overall. Great breakfast selection and Dinner was just above average seeping on what you get.
