I woke up with over 30 bites all over my body! Terrible sleep. Breakfast was awful, we went down at 9:15 so 45 mins before it shut, plenty of time, and there were no tables laid, the stuff were very blunt and arguing between themselves loudly. But, above all else, there was no food and no one seemed to care! I had to ask for orange juice, hash browns, beans, yoghurt, cheese, ham and even bowls as there were none left! Additionally the toaster didn’t work so we couldn’t even make toast. As an Events Manager I’ve stayed in many Mercure, and its competitors, hotels and must say I found this to be very bad.

Room and bed fine. Could not open tea bag. No lavatory brush. In evening no drinks served in lobby lounge. Dinner starter squid good but main meal linguini had to return as so salty it was inedible. Ordered white wine and after 10 mins was told not available. Breakfast no service just help yourself but fruit juice had run out and no coffee in coffee pot. Cooked food needed replacing as glazed over and containers nearly empty at 0915. Altogether very poor. Overall a poor experience that could easily be altered by proper management. We shalll not stay again.

This is a hotel I use on a regular basis. Everything from check-in to checkout is seamless. Rooms are a good standard, spa and gym are excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful. Menu in the bar and restaurant is reasonably priced and service is great.

Often when we visit, (2 x annually - last 8 years) the bar or restaurant is closed for a private function. Yet again, the racing bar was closed for the evening but we never get told when we check in. We just discover it later. More info is always useful. We always visit on a busy weekend as it's for a large event at the racetrack so the lounge is normally very full. Exceptional housekeeping this time (224, serviced daytime Sun 30th).

Overall our stay was good (better than average). We stayed for 2 nights and I was disappointed that the tea and coffee was not replenished and our toilet was not cleaned in our room. There was also a lack of smaller snacks (just what was on the full restaurant menu which wasn't much) and refreshments available. Could do with a vending machine or a separate bar menu with snacks available.

Little attention seems to be paid to the online booking as we had booked a room with a sofa bed for a child and requested a cot bed for a baby. Neither children’s beds were ready when we checked in at 5PM. It took 3 requests to the front desk staff over 90 minutes for housekeeping to come and make up the sofa bed. The travel cot was sorted after an earlier ask. At one point the front desk seemed to suggest that I approach housekeeping directly. Other than this inconvenience and minor annoyance we had a pleasurable stay, as usual.

I booked a privilege room and a double room. We had booked the "2 course meal for £18" internet offer. As soon as we arrived, all they did was keep telling us that we could only spend up to £20. This made me feel fairly ripped off. They should instead have shown us the menu we could choose from and be friendly. The manager of the restaurant was not friendly, avoiding eye contact despite my attempt to clarify the now very confused menu situation "You can order from the main menu but will only get a £20 credit". This wasn't the lovely deal the internet hooked me into. "You'd better hurry and order as there's a big group coming"... not very impressive. We asked about ordering in the bar and were encouraged to do so. They attempted to explain the internet offer to the man behind the bar but he became very confused. I decided to leave him to it and order in the restaurant. Disinterested restaurant manage took no interest still and made no eye contact. I am a manager for MSV (the owners of Brands Hatch) and feel embarrassed that our customers are getting this level of service. Things did not improve. On the Saturday night, the bar was woefully under-staffed (one member) and I had to wait 25 minutes to order a beer, which was served in a warm, incorrect glass and was flat. £8.75 for a glass of wine with wine running down the stem is unacceptable. I had booked a room for my elderly parents, including my terminally ill Father and explained the situation and that I was paying. Upon arrival, their checking in process was made very difficult with demands of credit cards. I was not contactable as I was in overall charge of the Brands Hatch racing event that day (which I explained) and had trusted the staff to handle things. My parents were left distressed and disappointed. On our first night, I opened the shower gel. On the 2nd morning I went to the bathroom to realise that the open one had been removed and not replaced. Not ideal. Overall, a rather disappointing experience considering the cost.

We stayed here for the BTCC so great location, the room was very hot and no air conditioning, so had to have window open which meant it was very nosey but even with window shut it was the same. The shower leaked leaving water all over floor and the paint was peeling off ceiling. Our room did not get cleaned so after being out all day had to wait for clean towels std, once I had been down and complained. We had booked table for restuartant on Sat when we arrived but they hadn't got us in but luckily they had room. Food was nice but not much choice on menu and Sunday they hadn't got much.

The room was every comfortable and breakfast was good, however the evening meal was disappointing. On the menu we requested chunky chips as a side with our meal when they arrived they were quite clearly oven chips which I raised with the waitress, her feedback from the kitchen was budget related, which I understand however don't charge high prices, if you are unable to provide homemade chips then your prices should reflect that. My husband order a Rib eye steak that cost £28,50, but it was very disappointing as was my chicken dish. I just feel you should not be charging high prices if a high standard can't be delivered. However I will say the side order of sauces were very pleasant. I had the blue cheese and my husband had the peppercorn sauce.

« Another comfortable stay at the Mercure Brands Hatch. »

Booking was for a stay to coincide with a racing event at Brands Hatch. The hotel had everything we wanted just on the doorstep of the racing circuit. We've stayed here before and will definitely do so again. Room was comfortable, we asked for a room at the rear of the hotel which was what we got. We used the gym and leisure facilities which are available to guests and members. I've reviewed this hotel before so can't really say much more to be honest.

« Too noisy, no chance of any sleep »

Stayed sat and Sunday night. Was not informed there would be a private function on with loud music playing untill 1.00am on sun day morning. If I had made this amount of noise in my hotel room at I'm sure I would have been asked to leave. Complained and staff simply not bothered. Will never stay in a mercure again.

When I arrived I requested a quiet room and was allocated a room, however when we got to the room it was noisy from the cars going round the track, so Amanda when back to reception and organised for us to be changed to a room at the front which was perfect. We were part of a wedding reception and all the bar staff were fantastic in accommodating our requests. We had a great time at the hotel and could not have asked for more from all the team at the hotel. Well done!
