Queues at reception consistently very lengthy and contact via telephone (from our room) was also impossible. We had a very upsetting Incident in the hotel spa which destroyed my daughters silver Pandora bracelets & rings due to the extremely high chlorine levels in spa. This was followed by 2hr negotiations with local and very helpful Pandora shop who replaced all items possible (much to the hotels relief). I was given a brief apology and 4 free drinks in the hotel bar (after asking what the hotel were prepared to offer as a good will gesture). Breakfast was poor except for the homemade honey. Considering this was a special birthday treat from my husband (who I don't see often as he works away from home), my teenage daughter's expectations, missing out on the late night Xmas markets / Bristol shopping experience as we were only away for 1 night and stress I didn't feel that the hotel took the incident seriously and showed very little compassion. I would not return to this hotel again as a eagly anticipated experience was ruined with a lasting effect on my family.

Check in was efficient, arrived in the evening and there was a Christmas party going, but this didn't cause any disruption to us. Bedrooms were great, the bed comfy and room spacious. There was only one dressing gown and pair of slippers in the room, and not all our drinks were replenished the second day but these are minor things and overall I really enjoyed it. Would definitely stay again.

We come to Bristol this time every year and stay in this hotel. We are always satisfied with it. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is good. It's within walking distance to the town, restaurants and river.

Room was not cleaned, no clean towels no clean cups or glasses for second day no heating in bathroom toilet paper was like tracing paper no Nespresso top up on second day only 3 for day 1

« The service let’s it down.... »

Room was great however the service needs improving —- 1, checked in only to be told that the payment had not gone through and the hotel would have normally cancelled the room. No response to the question of why didn’t you contact us? 2, had to get house keeping to provide towels 3, the wrong morning paper was provided Easily fixable mistakes that shouldn’t happen...

I found the staff very polite and helpful,however for our evening meal they could only offer one selection of white wine and for breakfast the next day they ran out of clean large plates and only had Flora and to our surprise NO butter.

Very satisfied with everything we experienced during our stay. A nice touch with the hand written welcome note that was placed in our room, along with the welcome drink voucher. Thanks to all in the Mercure Team at Bristol Grand, especially to Laura on the check in desk.

We couldn't get to sleep due to the loud music. The room heater wouldn't work. The hallway was full of dirty plates and glasses on arrival and they were still there when we left. The cleaner tried to come in twice early in the morning then sang at the top of her voice while cleaning the room next door, when I asked her to be quieter she apologised on one knee rather sarcastically and then she said we should be checking out and it was only 9.30. The worst experience I've had in an Accor hotel.

A great stay at the Mercure Grand Hotel in Bristol. Friendly staff, secure parking, awesome room and fab location - would highly recommend the Privilege Double Rooms with the added extras - it makes all the difference. We will certainly be back again!

« Clean and refurbushed hotel »

Comfortable overall. Room clean and well appointed but some problems overnight. The room was too cold. There was a plug-in radiator that I should have used. Overnight, there was some noisy music in what sounded like one of the other rooms on the 3rd floor. It happened for around 30 seconds on two occasions at around 2:30AM but work me up.

booked the hotel in August and paid alot more than I needed to so we could stay in a nicer hotel than a travel lodge. Big mistake!! I was warned on arrival that there would be some music going on but never was I told I'd be kept up till silly hours in the morning because my room was vibrating. The room was also so cold and there were no extra blankets so I eventually fell asleep in a coat. I would of certainly went home in the middle of the night however, as i had surgery two weeks ago im unable to drive so I had to wait until the morning. Im so relieved I took videos and photos of the room vibrating from the music to share via social media and to put a bigger complaint in because this is unacceptable.

Two large adult men placed into tiny twin room with one cupboard . Very very cold at night in the room and around hotel in general . Window view was more of a wall than anything else . Looking around for swimming pool and spa , could not find it , then was told next morning it wasn't on site to use ...... Absolute con . basically we paid for wine and got water . Thanks for this !

« I enjoyed my stay. »

All services were good. Hotel was well situated. Room was comfortable and clean. Food was good. Once we were in bed loud music started to play as there was a function on a lower floor. It went on for a few hours, disrupting our sleep. I mentioned it to the receptionist, who said we could have changed rooms, but I couldn't get her to understand we would not have wanted to get up, get dressed, repack our cases and move rooms in the middle of the night. I suggested that certain rooms should not be allocated when the function room below was being used. She was rather abrupt and did not appear interested. This was the only thing I found very off putting and would think twice about bookings gain.
