I stayed with 2 other girls in a family room. The room was lovely. We didn’t eat in the hotel so I can’t comment on the food. The ladies on reception were very helpful. We visited the spa and had a lively relaxing time there.

When I booked I specifically booked a family room as it has a sofa as part of the furnishings. I have some minor back trouble and find that a being able to sit in a sofa rather than a chair or on the bed helps prevent lower back discomfort. I have in the past experienced the pleasant surprise of arriving at a hotel to find my room has been upgraded so I was disappointed to discover that on this occasion it had been downgraded instead. I was not informed of this at reception and only realised that we had been given a standard double room when we entered it. I felt unable to complain at the time as we had come to Bristol to oversee my son's engagement party that weekend and knew that my wife would fret and become stressed about my back complaint if I drew attention to the problem. Something that would only cause friction and potential arguements over the entire weekend. Moreover, we arrived late after a very long car journey and a tight deadline meant that we needed to shower and change imediately and there was not time to consider going back to reception - luggage and all - and organising a room change. When I spoke to the receptionist about this later they did said they were unable to find my reservation and refunded the difference in the room price which is appropriate but not really good enough. I assume you would have kept the money if I had not raised the issue?? Whilst this did not spoil our weekend it did disrupt it and cause me some stress and discomfort. I remain confused as to what had happened. I feel that is reasonable of me to ask that you refund 1/2 of the cost of my booking. I have contacted the reservations manager about this but have had no reply.

« Excellent location. »

We choose this hotel for it's central location to walk to all areas of Bristol centre. The harbourside and the town are within walking distance. Lovely, quirky hotel. The rooms are minimalist decor and could be a bit brighter.

« Something attached to bed sheet that went in my leg »

Something attached to bed sheet that went in my leg I complained and asked for the general manager but nothing happened! One of the workers said the sheets would be changed, which I would expect after I have used them! Very disappointed with the staffs response!

The room was fine and the gym satisfactory but the restaurant service and food was poor. The computer was down when we checking in but the girl was trying her best.The room was of a good standard and if they can get some better staff in the dining it'll be a better hotel.

One night in lovely room, great breakfast and good that we could use spa after checkout. Room was a but cold however, and not sure thermostat worked. Plug-in heaters were available.

« Style over substance »

The hotel and rooms look very nice but our room was very impractical. The twin beds are too close together. The light hanging on one side of the bed was in the way. The round bedside table meant things fall off it when fumbling in the night. Having to put the kettle on the bedside table to make tea as there was no socket near where it was stored was not convenient. The toilet is so close to the wall that it made it awkward to sit on and get the loo paper. My mum also complained that the pillow was too firm and she had trouble sleeping - there was no alternative on offer. Additionally the only reason we picked this hotel instead of the premier inn was the spa.....and it was closed when we stayed !!!! Very disappointed and whilst an excellent location for what we wanted, sadly neither of us would stay again.

« Poor service over Tesco vouchers »

Booked our stay through Tesco clubcard and had problems over receiving booking confirmination. 5 phone calls later and over £20 of telephone charges incurred we finally received our confirmation confirming our bed and breakfast booking. On arrival we were told there was no breakfast on our booking so I retrieved my confirmation from my telephone and showed this to the receptionist, she asked if she could email it to her so I gave her my phone and she did this. She then asked if I had my vouchers with me (I do not understand why). She went away and came back confirming we did have breakfast and told us the times the restaurant was open. The following morning we went to breakfast and we're told we didn't have breakfast with our booking and would have to pay £20. We politely declined and checked out. We won't be returning I'm afraid.

« Terrible »

Someone entered our room at midnight when we were asleep. The room was not refreshed until the afternoon so we were unable to rest after lunch. Several times staff came into the room even when we had we are sleeping on the door. We were in an upgraded room but we were told by one member of staff that the fridge contents were not replaced every day which is ridiculous as if there was a change of customer every day you would have to refill the fridge. Another staff member told us there was no fresh milk in the hotel.. At breakfast we had to have coffee out of a machine which was horrible. We have stayed in this hotel many times before and always been happy but since it has changed hands it seems to only cater for business meetings. The desk staff did their best to help but we do not expect to constantly ask for things to be put right. This was a holiday break but was completely exhausting.

Staff were very helpful and pleasant, room was good as were the facilities broadly. Breakfast was overall disappointing as the hotel could not cope with the numbers staying, particularly on the Sunday. This overly tainted the experience.
