The service was at all times excellent - the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was tired - the carpet was in a very poor condition, there was a constant dripping sound from behind the wall somewhere, and new brighter decor and furniture was needed. The bed was very comfortable but the pillows were lumpy and poor quality. My husband's evening meal was good (a fish dish) but my stir fry was far too heavy on the soy sauce, lacked vegetables and was a ridiculously large portion. The chicken in it was well cooked and tender. The breakfast was very good. We were also there for a wake, and there the staff were superb - in particular, noticing that extra seating was needed and providing it quickly and efficiently without being asked.

Nice hotel, our stay was very pleasant, breakfast was more than adequate and other meals taken here were very good. We were extremely well placed for the itinerary I had planned for my partner's 60th Birthday which she thoroughly enjoyed, the hotel being a part of that. The room was excellent, beds very comfortable and everything we needed.

Mix-up with rooms and possibly the worst breakfast ever!

The only reason I have given three stars (it could easily have been less!) is that the staff were, without exception, friendly and efficient. However, the problems started before we even got there, with the online booking: we'd selected a superior twin room with breakfast for two, but the confirmation came back as a twin room for one, with one breakfast, so we had to request a call-back to get that sorted out. In the box for special requests, we'd put 'a quiet room would be appreciated if possible' - we were therefore pleased to find that the room we'd been allocated was a little way from the reception, bar and restaurant, although slightly surprised that it was a dedicated disabled room with accessible doors, toilet, shower, etc. That evening it sounded as though a herd of elephants had been let loose above us! The noise continued unabated, so we contacted reception to explain that we'd requested a quiet room and to ask what the noise was and when it was likely to stop. We were told it was a large party who were in a meeting room above us. They offered to find us an alternative room. About ten minutes later, the duty manager knocked on our door; she was very apologetic, but said as they were so busy they could only offer us a downgraded double room. We asked why we'd been allocated a room under a meeting/conference area when we'd specifically requested a quiet room, to which she replied 'Oh, the request we have is for a disabled room, nothing to do with it being quiet'!!! She apologised, and said she would deduct the cost of our breakfast the following morning from our bill. If the price hadn't been deducted, we'd have asked for a refund. We went along to the restaurant for breakfast, and were surprised we were the only ones there apart from one other table for two … perhaps everyone else knew what we didn’t! It was without doubt the worst breakfast we’ve ever had. Having been shown to the buffet, we found a tray of scrambled eggs in one solid, rubbery mass that you could slice with a knife; every fried egg on offer had a solid yolk; the so-called ‘Portobello field mushrooms’ were in fact the small tinned variety; the bacon was a solidified mass … need I go on? Even the continental breakfast wasn't up to much, the entire selection of cold meats and cheeses being presented on just two dinner plates, and the fruit was all under-ripe, hard and tasteless. We'd rather have gone up the road and had breakfast at Morrison's in St Albans!

I could not book a hotel on the booking line as we had special guest rates for a wedding I had to drive to the hotel and book a room I received no confirmation so called the booking line who told me I had no booking, I then called the reception who conformed I had a room I asked for an e -mail to confirm which was provided. On the day of arrival I went to book in and was told I had no booking !! I had to then provide the email and was told "o yes you do have a booking" as im sure you can appreciate this was so utterly stressful for myself and husband who was trying to celebrate a family wedding I found the booking system an absolute shambles.

Was ok pool area good but i was on business so not too much time however i was not impressed i mever booked breakfast but had an account running for the 3 days i was there but took breakfast the first morning thinking theyd add it to my bill but they insisted i paid immediately for it which i found odd and then i had a meeting in the back bar area with some colleagues and after taking the order they insisted we moved into the front bar despite us having laptops etc all ready so we refused after much fuss they said ok but i didnt think the customer service was good they just seem to annoy everyone as an accor member i wasnt happy and will not use again .

Lady on reception wasn't very helpful and initial impression made me wish I had booked elsewhere Room was nice, but wasn't aware that you allowed baby elephants to occupy the upstairs rooms, and couple next door were obviously there for a good time!! Evening meal was fantastic, best choice had in a hotel for ages Breakfast was okay, nice choice and regularly checked and topped up,did ask twice for tea and ended up with coffee? Price was expensive, but then it is London area,

We were in room 211 and the bed was broken. This was reported to reception but nothing was done. The swimming pool opening times were not good enough I don't see the point in having a combination lock to a facility that's closed when people wish to use it. The breakfast was freezing cold in the morning this was reported and nothing seemed to be understood by the staff. Bar prices were turbo expensive too.
