Staying in Hatfield and looking for a one nights stay with 3 persons, we drove to the Mercure Oak hotel in Hatfield by the end of the day looking for a place to stay. Fully booked. Then I figured, lets call the Mercure reservation line ... which I had not! After spending half an hour on the phone, booking three rooms (at ten minutes driving distance from St. Albans ...) I told the lady I was going too end the call ... too much of a hassle. Arriving at the hotel ... sort of the same ... how is it possible that anno 2019 somebody has to make at least 350, but I think closer to 600 mouse clicks to get us rooms from the front desk ?! It took her (the computer system) 20-25 minutes to get us the rooms. The guy behind me got mad and complaint that he was waiting for 20 minutes and still was waiting (as was the three of us) We had staying in the Noke hotel before and than it was the same hassle. (15 minutes using a system from before the Napoleon time) The rooms are OK, the bath room is far out of date ... not hotel worthy. Low water pressure, one almost need to climb on top of the water crane in order to get some shower water on your head. We did like diner served on the terras, that was good.

Paulina on reception was really very helpful. My room was ready earlier than expected, and she called me prior to my arrival to advise me of this. I was attending a wedding, and didnt want to drive in my outfit. She promised she would call, and she kept her promise - most professional.

Wedding party. Large set up, hotel inflexible on event prep time, felt a little conveyor belt. Not all weddings are pedestrian in-out. Staff working the event could not have been bettered. Very impressive. 5 star responsive. Smooth, professional, helpful, friendly, super hard working. Often constricted by venue rules, i.e, one bar not functioning please use the other on the other side of the complex, cannot close any part of the breakfast to allow event access. Room keys frequently failed. Room ok, tired decor. A/C great but limited availability in rooms.

When I arrived there was a wedding & prom party in full swing. When I asked if my room was close to it they said yes, but they’ll move me. They moved me to a room so quiet I didn’t even know it was going on and all I could hear was birds! Marvellous. Room service excellent and very attentive to my gluten and dairy intolerances. Staff very helpful. Only downfall was breakfast as staff a bit sketchy, took 10 mins to find out if dairy in the scrambled egg ( yes double cream) but not bad. They did provide me with gluten free bread and no added sugar soya milk. Overall very impressed.

All ok really,it was just a very hot weekend and although there was a fan in the room it was too noisy to sleep with it on,unable to open a window. The bed was a standard double and we are used to a kingsize! Breakfast was good ,scrambled eggs excellent, just would have been nice to have had bread rolls available along with the sliced bread

We were at a friend's party in St Albans on the night of our stay, so actually spent very little time at the hotel, but we enjoyed a drink at the bar before going out and breakfast the next morning was very nice. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Worse hotel we've ever stayed in. So bad it was comical. Booked 2 rooms 221 and 214 for 1 night. 214 isn't a bedroom it's a sauna. Although noisy old fashion fan was in room - sounded like a 747 coming into land when on. Tough choice, not sleeping due to noise of fan or heat? If hotel knows rooms are hot why not supply quiet air con or Dyson fans? Went to have a shower - no water! No water came out of the sink taps either. Told receptionist when we checked out and she confirmed that 214 is hot and there is a known water issue.

Friendly helpful staff. Delicious food. Comfortable room/ bed.

We had a one night stay recently and can say from the very start at checking in to checking out was done in a very friendly efficient manner. The room itself was just lovely - clean and well appointed. We had breakfast brought up to the room and it was delicious. The cooked breakfast was hot and we enjoyed all of it. Will definitely be staying again.

The hotel needs a refurb...furnishings looked worn the shower in our room was unsatisfactory...no water one morning, grouting in the shower falling out, towels thin. The breakfast was not good, poor quality food, dried bacon, hard eggs. It was not a good experience.
