« Few problems »

Front desk staff gave us incorrect information about where to have food and we were guided to the wrong area. Also when I wanted to have shower before dinner, there was no hot water and there was dark grey clouding coming out of the taps on initial opening. I had to call down to reception about the water. Engineers told me to wait 15 minutes for water to heat up. Good job I was not pushed for time.

Great room, tasty and varied breakfast. Good spa facilities. Visited for Mother and father in laws' birthday party. We took our own cake and stated it was a surprise (all arranged in advance) - somebody phoned them from the hotel to ask how they wanted their cake presented! Breakfast was buffet style except for hot drinks. Both mornings we had to ask for coffee, the second morning we asked twice before it came. The code to get through to the the spa was written on the cardboard that the key card came in, only nobody pointed this out to us so we had to walk round on a rainy day. We weren't given a padlock at the spa for our lockers, didn't even know about them, so our belongings were left unlocked. Overall we enjoyed ourselves, but it would have made it extra special if the attention to detail hadn't been overlooked.

After a change of room because you had no lifts everything went well. Staff were accommodating and friendly. The grounds were well maintained and lovely. We even saw a fox!! The birthday get together was appreciated by all our family and friends. A special thank you to Craig.

« Good apart from dark room, noisy neighbours and plastic bread for breakfast »

Was there for a wedding- everything was excellent for that and the staff were all very friendly,efficient etc- but my room was very dark with a view of a wall. The neighbours were having some sort of problem which meant that they were talking all night- low level noise so very inadequate soundproofing and why spoil an excellent breakfast by just serving plastic bread- it wouldn't have cost much more to serve a variety of the excellent breads that are now available to us all.

Overall staff very helpful and friendly. Bit disappointed that room (114) looked "tired" and needing refurbishment. No air conditioning or working heating. Food was good and generally stay was ok.

From the minute we decided to hold our wedding at The Noke Mecure Hotel we felt confident that all would be well and the stress was taken away from us. It was perfect. The venue was wonderful, the staff were amazing and the chef excelled himself. All our friends commented on the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms and our bridal suite was beautiful. I cannot praise everyone enough. It made our wedding day the best possible day we could have had

« Nice staff, noisy rooms and no hot water »

Room was OK if a little dated but there was little noise insulation and I got to hear every move of the person upstairs as they banged around after midnight. Also every time they flushed the toilet or ran the tap I felt like I was right next to them so loud was the running water. And then to top it all on my last morning, no hot water.

The staff at your hotel were fabulous and very helpful. The rooms on the other hand are in desperate need of modernisation. The carpet in my perticular room look about 50 years old.

« Disappointing compared to other hotels in the chain »

No upgrade for being Platinum. No air conditioning. Very ‘tired’ hotel that desperately needs an upgrade. Advertised as a four star - have stayed in better two stars!!

« Pleasant but hectic and unorganised »

The hotel was nice. We have stayed the St Albans area many times before and love the peaceful and scenic location. There were 3 events that evening so we had to walk around the hotel in the rain to access our room. We ordered room service in the evening and despite all the events, it was super quick and efficient. Service was great from reception and room service. We paid for late checkout at 2pm and the reception staff were very accommodating. The cleaning staff were very nice but talking loudly outside the room which woke us up throughout the morning. The leisure club manager was downright rude and would not allow us to use the pool as it was past 12pm. This was not communicated to us at any point and it was disappointing. We have stayed at a number hotels for spa breaks and this is the first time we have experienced being turned away, including stays at other Mercure locations in London. He definitely put a downer on our stay and experience of the hotel. Unfriendly would be an understatement. Overall, we had a good stay but it was diminished by thr rude staff at the leisure club.

« Stay was ok, and very adequate for what we needed »

Room was ok, although there a few improvements would make it ideal, which include a new hairdryer (current one wasn't working), new or tuned TV (as chanels weren't clear), and bed was quite lumpy, but overall was nice and adequate for what we needed.
