« Great upgrade but tired around the edges »

Excellent reception staff, and a huge room was a great start. Sadly the sealed units on the double glazing are bust so at least two of the windows were all steamed up, which was a shame given the view! The bars are deeply unappealing places to spend any time - very boring and plain décor and no thought given to design whatsoever. Breakfast was decent though nothing special, a dreary selection of cereal and the usual hot food items. No one seems to know whether breakfast ends at 9.30 or 10am (conflicting information at reception, in room and in the lift. Needless to say, the staff working breakfast were vocally very keen that it was 9.30...

We were given a free upgrade to a premium room, a pleasant unexpected surprise. The room was comfortable, welcoming and clean and ready an hour before the expected check-in time. We used the bar, which was great, the reception staff were very friendly and the breakfast next morning delicious. Would not hesitate staying here again. Thank you

« Cold »

Room cleanliness and quality fine but no heating (air con would not warm up) so extremely cold. Found out afterwards that a colleague's room was also cold and another had a heater so indicates a general issue with the rooms.

« A lovely hotel overall however problems with toilet flushing »

I only stayed for one night and ate in the beautiful restaurant - food was excellent. However I did not sleep well at all. I had to be up at 6.15 to catch a flight but after visiting the bathroom at 3.00 the flush was still running (like a bath running) until 4.40. I could not get back to sleep until I flushed the toilet again and it stopped. My colleague had the same issue. I think if this is a recurrent problem then maybe a notice in the bathroom informing guests would be a good idea

« Room was good, bar was too loud and breakfast was disappointing »

The room was fine. The bath / shower was uncomfortably structured and the sharp edge on the soap holder was a bit of a hazard. Breakfast was disappointing: both mornings I got an uncooked sausage and the scrambled eggs managed to be both watery and dry We visited the bar on Saturday evening to use our complimentary drinks vouchers, but the music was too loud throughout the bar so we did not stay - this was around 8pm

I was booked into this hotel for 4 nights and pleasantly surprised to be told that I had been upgraded to a privileged room on arrival. There is no denying that the room was both spacious and had a splendid view of the liver building and river Mersey. The fridge had a selection of soft drinks that were included in the price of the room. Some things did leave me disappointed though; Dirty mugs not replaced with clean ones during the daily room service. The soft drinks in the Fridge did not get replaced either, so you were given the same amount of drinks for one night as you were for 4-5 nights. Personally I would of preferred a replenish of water everyday than a selection of soft drinks that I wouldn’t drink.

Mostly very pleased. Two niggles- welcome tray milk containers far too small, and toilet paper awful. Staff welcoming. Car park good but signage poor. Having said that we are happy to revisit.

« We had problems with opening the room’s door and when we complained about it,the manager ignored us totally »

Extremely dessatisfied,noisy room,the room door needs to be fixed,was just one small shower gel for 2 people,and the towels had visible stains .We paid £160 per night and the conditions were very poor

I visit Liverpool often but this was my first time here. The hotel is in a great location & my request for a room with a view of the Liver building was met & I had a great but too short stay. Great rooms, HUGE bed & pleasant complimentaries & the room was clean & very stylish ... if I was to be picky I'd say the tea stains / water marks down one wall were a little unsightly but this by no means detracted from my stay or made me feel the room was any less clean, because other than that, it was spotless.

« Splendid hotel »

This was a fantastic hotel. Some of the Mercure hotels i've stayed in the past have gone below my expectations. This has surpassed it. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from Liverpool Lime Street Station, although a very short walk from Moorgate station. It is near the waterfront of the River Mersey. The hotel entrance was grand. The staff were very pleasant. At reception, I was given my room keycard, along with a couple of welcome drink vouchers. I also booked a table for the restaurant. I was very surprised when I went to my room, as I was upgraded to a suite. And it was fantastic. Large, with all the facilities, except a mini bar. The bathroom was large. The only disappointing thing is that the windows are old, and should be double glazed. And some of the interior looks dated. But apart from that, the bed was really comfortable. There were two large flat screen TVs. And a nice view of the River Mersey and the Liver building, I wished I could live there!! The dining experience was not bad. The restaurant has a nice setting. But service was very slow. My main course still hadn't arrive 45 minutes after I ordered. However, they decided to deliver the food to my room. The food however, was delicious. Check out was very good.

Pleasant and comfortable stay. The beds were nice and the shower good. We came for the football and in other comparable stays we have ended up in the bar and had a few drinks and snacks. Disappointed that there were no snacks at all or nibbles available. This measnt going back to the room or nipping out and bringing stuff in which was not ideal. In places the room and the hotel could do with a make over. However whilst not my first choice i would have no problem staying again
