When I checked in the staff member asked for my email address, I presumed to send me the recipt, but she signed me up to Le Club without even telling me let alone my consent which is entirely unacceptable and clearly contrary to GDPR regulations. The hotel itself was good.

« Convenient location but room wasn’t perfect »

I was up in 402 and felt like I’d been dumped in the servants’ rooms. It was a trek to get there and the hotel seemed to get shabbier the closer I got to my room. The room itself was fine although the shower leaked and the toilet roll holder was barely hanging on.

stayed here several times over the last 5 or 6 years. Great location opposite rail station and also some fantastic restaurants. As always, the hotel is up there with the best. Checking in was a breeze, with polite friendly staff. The rooms I have stayed in were a good size, and always clean, complete with tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board. All in all a pleasant stay. The only down side is the limited parking available. I normally use the rail station carpark opposite which is £5 or £6 for overnight

A great location and a comfortable room. Food at breakfast was good and staff helpful until there was a problem with the lighting in my room. I had to resort to removing a light bulb that kept flashing as no-one came to check the problem.

I have stayed at your hotel on several consecutive years for a meeting. I enjoyed my stay on each occasion. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained. I don't spend much time in the rooms as it was a working trip. The food on the first lunch was a slightly odd combination and while on most occasions where a buffet style choice of food is available it is possible to put together combinations to make a whole meal 'with a theme' on this occasion the hot choices were odd when combined with the vegetables etc and it was difficult to decide what was going to go together well to form the complete meal. Several of my colleagues also commented on this. The selection on the second day was better.

« Brief but enjoyable stay »

Just an overnight stay for a reunion but the staff made the stay extra special. From my husband phoning beforehand, to check in and checkout, the service was excellent. Big thanks to the lovely blond lady (so sorry I didn’t get your name) on reception, who not only saved me a taxi fare but was generally lovely and approachable. Also to the chap who gave us a lovely quiet room, all greatly appreciated! Would definitely stay here again if we came to Exeter.

« Brilliant location, comfy bed »

Brilliant hotel, lovely building in a superb location. Loved being so close to the high street and central station. We had a street facing room but weren't disturbed by any noise. The bed was huge and super comfy. The bathroom could've had a little more care take in cleaning around the corners. We had prepaid for our room so we weren't offered the option of adding a charge to room option on check in, this wasn't a big issue since we didn't use any of the facilities because we had plans in the city but being offered would've been a nice touch.

« What I would expect from a hotel »

The room was pleasant and clean so was the rest of the hotel. The breakfast had a good variety and all of the staff helpful. The car parking was a nightmare and just made it to my nieces wedding ( held at the hotel) we had to drive around the city as car parks were full.

Sadly we experienced very rude behaviour from a female member of evening bar staff. She closed the bar shutters and started mopping floor around us while 9 of us sat having a drink at 10.30pm on Friday 23 November. Drinks in bar are very high priced and we were treating ourselves on first night of stay and to have such rude service was quite frankly shocking! There were other times that it was apparent that the hotel was pretty understaffed which is a shame. We have been coming for 14 years now as a group and this was disappointing.

Very comfortable after settling into our 3rd room, when arrived the first 2 rooms offered where very hot indeed, the tv on the wall was not in front of the bed but on the side wall, which made it impossible to watch. The coffee shop was shut due to a wedding which we had not been informed, very disappointed.

This was our 14th year at the Rougemont, Exeter. Our room was comfortable, however, for a disabled room, it couldn't have been further from the lift if you had tried!! The bathroom shower was a dribble, the towels were tiny and thin, very second rate. On Friday night, after we had been out for a meal we decided to come back to the hotel bar for a few drinks. Then the shutters were closed in our faces at 10.30 pm! The man behind the bar was rude and abrupt. He did serve us drinks from the side door but it was all too much trouble and drink prices were extortionate. Breakfasts this year were really disappointing. Service was good but the food was poor. Luke warm and not at all appetising. Service at the hotel was good, apart from Friday night at the bar. We were all disappointed with the Rougemont this year.

« Fit for purpose but I will not be back »

I spend about 20 weeks a year in hotels, and this hotel provide me with some unique experiences. For example, having to apply a credit limit to my room for bar charges. Being able to hear everything from the room next door, including them walking around (they were not a noisy neighbor, it’s just that the walls were that thin). The room was tiny, the en-suite was nearly the same size as the bedroom. Breakfast was fairly poor, and odd that it was an extra, rather than being included in the cost of the room.
