Solo travel - 19/02/2018
« convenient location, comfortable room »

This was just a three night weekend stay to have a look at Exeter, and the hotel is ideally placed, being opposite the Central Station and close to the museum and cathedral, not far from the Quayside. Included breakfast was good, and it was nice to be offered pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Only a few drawbacks: 1) service in the restaurant the first night was very poor; 2) the radiator in the bedroom was difficult to control - too hot when I arrived; 3) I ordered a newspaper for Monday and Tuesday, specifically said I didn't want one on Sunday, but it was delivered all the same. Nevertheless, good value for money, and I would gladly stay there again.

« Fantastic as always except one thing. »

The staff were very friendly and welcoming as they always are. Travelling up by train we were delighted that instead of leaving our luggage with you for a few hours we were allowed early access to our room as it was all ready prepared. Very welcomed by travelling guests! The room was beautifully laid out and furnished. My only gripe is that the cleanliness of the bathroom floor was insufficient. There was dirt and hair on the floor by the bin area and dust and hair behind the door when closed. I had face wipes with me so cleaned it myself. We had a great nights sleep and breakfast buffet was absolutely lovely as it always is. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Lovely old building with lots of character of an old building. Nice friendly welcomeFrom the staff on the front Desk. The rooms in this hotel have undergone a full refurbishment from the pastime I stayed at this hotel. Some nice touches to the rooms crisp and fresh with an interesting design of wallpaper. I enquired as to why a there was a ball of wall design on the wall paper and was educated when I was informed that Exeter used to one of the major town involved in the wool industry many years ago. The bathroom were also very nice, with a lovely large shower tray and a powerful invigorating shower. The room we stayed in was spacious and catered for all our needs and the breakfast was far superior to a lot of hotels which I have stayed in at this price and standard. Perfectly situated opposite the station with all the main shops and restaurants with easy walking distance.

Hotel was very busy and parking was difficult followed the instructions given to me by reception to park outside which was on double yellow lines not in the disabled bays however when we were given a ticket the receptionist Rachel denied telling us to park there. Myself and my had had previously checked the parking arrangements. So I have paid £10 hotel parking and now a £70 fine

« Average and overpriced for what it was »

The room was bright and airy but the décor was bleak and unwelcoming. Stray hairs found in bath and on quilt. The coasters in the bathroom were obviously re-used. The bed was hard, the quilt was thin ( I got cold in the night but couldn't find an extra blanket, only 2 extra pillows) I had a four course meal and that was well presented and delicious. The breakfast selection was extensive but the "cooked food" was only luke-warm and the heating lamps seemed ineffective. The staff were all helpful and very friendly.
