Room OKish, Staff knew their job & were very pleasant etc. Breakfast terrible! What on earth can visitors from abroad (& there were quite a few at this hotel) think of English food? I felt ashamed to be English. Making breakfast inclusive is going too cheap. It is better to pay extra. I will be emailing separately about this. I was given email details by the guy on the desk who like the rest of the staff was very pleasant. I have stayed at many Ibis hotels & have never experienced such awful food. Is this a UK thing?!!!!!

Disappointing. The level of service is very basic for the price and pretty much on par with the Ibis Budget. One towel per guest and one a half rolls of toilet paper is not my idea of acceptable hotel accommodation.

« One thing spoiled our stay »

When we went up to the room the key wouldn’t work so I went downstairs to reception and explained that the green light came on followed by a red one. I was given a new key and the receptionist came with me to check that the key worked - it didn’t - so we had to be let in using a pass key. We were told that it would need a maintenance engineer to fix it but that they didn’t work at the weekend. Also since the hotel was full they couldn’t give us another room. So the only option was that each time we wanted to get back into the room we had to get someone from reception to come up with us (to the 4th floor) and let us in, which involved a wait. This obviously caused inconvenience for us and also for the reception staff, who were extremely helpful. On returning home the next day I emailed the manager (who wasn't there during our stay) to tell him what had happened and suggested that under the circumstances some sort of refund would be appropriate. I also suggested that to avoid a repetition of he should consider employing a maintenance engineer over the weekend, especially when the hotel is full. 4 days later I haven't received a reply, nor even an acknowledgement of my email

Good location for what we wanted, room was okay, but walls very thin, so could hear others tv etc. Like the decor of the main hotel, and the bar was good. Reception desk a bit close to front doors, so a queue of more than six people would be outside. Overall it was okay though, would use it again.

My wife and I loved the Portland Hotel. It is vibrant and quirky. The staff were fantastic and were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and we had a terrific evening meal in the restaurant. Next time we're in Manchester we won't need to think twice about where to stay - the Portland Hotel!

« Room was disgusting »

Upon entering our room the bed was only partially made. We made the bed ourselves, but had been given sheets that were too small for the bed. After some time we gave up and removed the sheets as we were constantly having to remake the bed. Upon doing this we discovered that the mattress was utterly filthy, with massive brown stains all over it. We spoke to the receptionist who thought it was hilarious, laughed at us and gave us a card to contact the “assistant reception manager”. I did just that and I’m still waiting for a response days later. I won’t be back, and have made sure that people are aware just how filthy your hotels are. (My legs are covered in flea bites now). The assistant reception manager I have been emailing is called Amanda Van Der Krabben. She clearly has no interest in doing her job and I’d highly recommend she is sacked. The hotel is a disgrace.

Staff never asked about our stay. Room soor handle 542 in the bathroom is falling off, wall stickers coming off the wall. Shower leaks over the door and floor. Side light broken near right side of the bed. Not the same room as stated in the photo was a bog standard room.

« 2 nights Ibis Styles Piccadilly Gardens Manchester. Good hotel if a bit pricey »

Two nights for business trip. Easy booking. Not easiest place to find and walked by it a couple of times because the Logo is a bit low key. Nice welcome though, young enthusiastic smiling staff. Nice modern buzz, room good with quality fittings. Food ok at the restaurant / bar, with a good selection on offer as well as some good modern beers available. Breakfast typical continental style, but very relaxed, could fill up on it if you wanted. Not cheap but a good place for seeing central Manchester. I would use it again.

« Fab quirky hotel if a little noisy »

The hotel was fabulously quirky- loved the interior style and friendly ness of staff. Down side was, it felt a little dirty, like the carpets weren’t cleaned correctly and the hotel is very noisy. Noise from the street was unbearable and also from other visitors.
