on arrival 11.00 am the receptionist was very pleasant and arranged a room for us explaining it would be by the marquee so there would be music till quite late. As we have done this before it was no problem. We use the Hotel as it very convenient for Haydock racecourse. i only have one little gripe, i got up in the night for a cold drink out of the fridge, to find there wasn't a fridge.

We were staying as part of a wedding and upon arrival upgraded from a classic room to a suite. Which excited us until we got to the room. On the hottest day of the year the air conditioning wasn’t working. Leaving the room ridiculously hot. Having complained to reception 3 times nothing was done. Which is a shame really as the suite was lovely. Other wedding guests who had booked suites were moved to air conditioned rooms but we were not offered this.

« Great Hotel, Good Food but Poor Restaurant Service »

Very Good. Hotel reception allowed us to check in early, room was perfect. Great overall service. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the service was poor. The restaurant was only 1/3 full yet we had to share a menu and there was not enough to go around. We ordered a bottle of wine which took ages to arrive. We ordered our meals and had to wait a total of 50 mins for it to arrive (after chasing up the waiting staff) - it was only a simple burger and chicken dish. Luckily to food was hot and tasted ok otherwise i would have escalated my complaint.

All staff were friendly and efficient. The pool and spa facilities were great- quiet and relaxing. Our suite was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Plenty of choice and the hot buffet was very tasty.

I attended an awards ceremony there recently. The conference itself was poorly looked after by the staff and management team. The tables were serviced in a very unorganised way, with some people waiting up to 25 minutes to receive the same course. The staff seemed very unorganised and had no real leaders helping them get things right. The beef was like old leather. It was so hard! The bars were also poorly attended. Just one member of staff each of the two bars trying to serve 150 guests from the awards plus regular guests. Very poor planning from the management team and the kitchen should be disappointed in what they served.

« Always very good »

We stay regularly at the mecure HAYDOCK and on this occasion the weather was very hot we requested an air conditioned room which we was very kindly given only to find the air conditioning was not working we was given a fan which didn’t solve the problem unfortunately...great service from reception but they are let down by maintenance of the hotel.

Reception staff friendly. First room given terrible. Window could be locked or opened on ground floor (room 135). All these rooms have sash windows and need a proper solution to lock them. Poor maintenance guy is doing his best with cables but not the fix needed. Wasn't prepared to leave my laptop in the room. Air conditioning only heated (seems a permanent thing with that room even though a privilege room). Moved to room 208. Much better room, although air conditioning didn't work again. A privilege room again. Fish and chips dinner. Fish was virtually cremated! Completely over cooked. Took ages to get served at bar. Shame as hotel is a very nice setting.

Stay for friends wedding. Staff were very good and welcoming. Only major complaints was about the matress on the bed which was hard it felt like sleeping on a board aslso the enamel in the bath was chipped and the lock on the bathroom door was hanging off.

« Easy to get to, reasonable hotel. »

Hotel was easy to find off the M6. It is very close to the motorway, so traffic noise is all present. Having said that, the hotel is in a secluded location and pleasant enough.
