« Weekend break to attend a wedding »

We stayed at the Mercure as it was the venue for a wedding we were attending. Receprion staff were helpful and check in was quick and easy. We had a privilege room which was clean and spacious. I was little surprised that there were no drawers. It wasn't a major issue staying for only 2 nights but for a longer stay this would have really irritated me having no where for t shirts, undies eye. Breakfast was amazing so.muxh choice! Staff waiting on and bar staff were friendly and professional. A great break at a lovely hotel!

I stay here regularly for work and it is always clean and tidy. The staff are always happy to help with the smallest issues. Nice to see a porridge station and although I can't have cows milk they were more than happy to make it with water at my request

« Sorry to say but sadly disappointing »

Unfortunately our stay didn't serve its purpose, which was to rest and relax. Myself and family stayed in one of your junior suits as a nice treat to get away from busy lives at home. On a personal note im awaiting back surgery and needed a good nights rest. This didn't happen as there was a wedding party in the hotel so very busy and noisy until midnight! The staff were pleasant but could have been a little more informative at check in, advising us of your facilitates and such like. And at check out maybe asking if we enjoyed our stay would have been nice. We left feeling disappointed as we don't get this time together as often as we would like. It was a lovely hotel, clean, nice food..but overridden by the downsides as ive stated.

« restaurant menu and prices need work. »

The Rooms are clean and comfy, the staff are happy and accommodating, I had extra tea and coffee every day I requested it. The hotel side is extremely good. However, £26 for a steak and £15 for a burger is just unnaceptable. I stayed there on business and every night had to contribute towards my meal as it was over my £25 allowance. This shiuld be mofe than enough for a meal for 1 and a drink.

« Not up to the usual standards »

As a fairly frequent visitor I noticed that the standards have dropped since my last stay. The heating wasn't working or fixed during my 3 night stay. I was offered a second duvet which never materialised but I was given a portable heater which helped a little. The bedside LED light didn't work, the remote for the tv had no battery cover and the seal on the plug in the bathroom didn't work so the water kept draining out of the basin. The menu has changed slightly but I found that the standard wasn't as good even though the prices had increased!

Bed was so big and comfy, my best friend's wedding and had the most amazing day and night. Food excellent throughout day and night and breakfast wonderful. I have previously stayed at another Mercure hotel which was equally as good.

Standard of room was not to the expected 4 star rating. The shower was broken, the towel rail was rusty and the basin had several chips in it. On the positive side, the reservations department on the phone before our stay were extremely helpful.

Stayed in the hotel just for 1 night and didn’t arrive till late but check in was perfect. Loved my little welcome card and chocolates that were place on the bed. Had breakfast delivered to the room which was lovely .

Check staff very friendly but not enough of them for what mgmt must know would be busy due to races. We have checked in online but still had to wait in long queue. Suggest a separate queue for guests who Do this. Room comfortable but bathroom looking tired and dated
