Room was small but we were hardly in there anyway. However you cannot beat its location in the Melbourne CBD and accessibility was great when you have a car too. Hardly needed to use the car for city transport. Only used car to go out to the suburbs

Regarding the facilities we had a good impression. Check in The check in was not smooth as the system showed different entries than our actual booking. Housekeeping After the first day we had to report that housekeeping did not properly their job for visually obvious waste and not tiny crumbles. Room The room itself was great with a great view. The water pressure was strong enough. AC worked very well. Maybe all power sockets need a check up as one next to the bed seemed not working. Safety hazard Furthermore we almost injured ourselves by hitting the wheels / rolls of the bed. The brake lever of all wheels stood out of the bed egdes, even the next day after we personally turned them inwards below the bed one by one. This is a serious saftey concern. We do not want to imagine what happens if a toddler had fallen onto that face forward. Staff responded promptly and the GM (if I am not mistaken) immediately contacted us and apologized. Nonetheless this should have been addressed from the beginning - no matter how "new" the hotel is. We never came across in any hotel about such safety hazard around a hotel bed - whatever hotel category. Staff In general the staff were very kind - especially all reception staff and those at ground level. Almost all staff at breakfast buffet were nice, friendly and welcoming. However one person stood out. He made it to the top of our list for all accor hotels we stayed in Sydney and Melbourne. We assume it is the restaurant manager (wore a grey suit, blonde / brown hair, 175-180 cm tall). He managed to be on top of our list for the most cockiest and arrogant staff between the years in Australia. During our entire stay he greeted me once, maye twice, never my husband. Once my husband deliberately greeted him loudly and nothing came back. And on our last morning he passed us by silently with his cocky smile when we walked out after we finished breakfast. We take that personally as we observed he interacted with all other guests. Food We only had the breakfast buffet. And it was good regarding taste and perceived quality and freshness of ingredients. There might be a lack of variety after 3 mornings. The pastries were exceeding expectations.

The beds were so comfortable, staff were lovely that we encountered at concerige and check in/out and the rooms were very clean, small but very clean. The only thing that was disappointing was there was no body lotion in the amenities, I forgot mine and was surprised there wasn't any in the room.

Excellent. All staff were extremely pleasant and professional and our room on level 35 was fantastic. The availability of all levels of management to guests, seeking feedback and suggestions, was exemplary. Meals were fabulous and a particularly nice touch was the special breakfast on New Years Day.

The room was great except for the lack of a complete toilet door! We had awesome views and the shower was great. Bed comfy. Facilities excellent. Bar offerings and staff excellent. No-one needs or wants their privacy violated when using the toilet! Bad luck if you were on a honeymoon or other romantic weekend away!

The stay with novotel was great. Great service, clean and tidy rooms and good location. However, I initially booked a queen room, and wow was it small. You get used to the bathroom being open plan however the rooms and rectangular not square so anything other then sleeping/showering in the typical room is not an option. We were upgraded and this is greatly appreciated. However next time I will check the photos more carefully.

This is what I posted on trip adviser. Sums it up We normally stay at the Novotel in Collins when in Melbourne with the kids. Have been staying at this motel for 15 years from the moment our boys were small children to what they are now. When we could not stay there due to a very late decision in booking we decided to stay at the new Novotel Central where they had room for the four of us. Reading the reviews on Central were not that great but we were desperate as we always Hotel with Accor as part of Accor Advantage. Room reviews state that the rooms are small. Well yes they are. It was a squeeze to fit four of us in, however in terms of fit out, excellent. Huge TV, quality finishes, great beds but the most pleasing of all were the staff. From the Concierge (Kenny) to check in (Laree), (thanks for accommodating our coffee machine!!! and bedding issues), to after dinner drinks (Nish).....unbelievable service. Nish makes the best Whisky Sours with great conversation. It was a pleasure to talk with you. On the hot 42 deg day that we had during our stay, Kenny provided us with icy-poles on leaving the motel. Never had that simple gesture from the Novetel in Collins but how it made a difference. They now have a lot to live up to. In addition to this superb service I wish to mention the Breakfasts. The chef (sorry but didn't catch your name), while we were there for our three mornings, not only remembered our previous orders BUT the food was absolutely beautiful. Still a great selection like Collins Street for Novotel standards but we noticed it was not, should I say, mass produced. It was if it was cooked just for us, freshly prepared. All the wait staff were friendly. If you get over the smaller sized rooms (not a big deal really), the location was spot on right next to Hardware Lane, and a very short walk down to Bourke Street mall, it was a great experience, and one that we would do again there. If this level of service continues after the Honeymoon period of being a new establishment has ended, I would suggest that the Novotel Collins has a lot of catching up to do. Well done and please pass this review onto all that were mentioned.

Fantastic. Customer Service was great, from arrival to departure. All levels of management made themselves available to guests seeking feedback and suggestions. The seven course Italian dinner was amazing and the quality of food spectacular. Would certainly recommend their Pretty Boy restaurant.

The hotel was very good. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The only concern was that when I returned from the theatre just after 11.00pm the bar had close, so I was unable to use the drink voucher. Around 11.30pm I tried twice to order food but the phone went unanswered, which was disappointing. That was my only negative comment for my stay.

« Good for a one night stay, no longer »

Overall it was good (probably quite good for a one night stay) however a few things had me shaking my head. We stayed 4 nights, so had plenty of time to critique the place. Beautiful room but very little space surrounding the beds in order to walk around. Only one towel hook with 2 adults and 2 children booked to the room, no cupboard or shelving at all for clothes/belongings (not even a drawer at the bedside table), very little space at the basin for our own toiletries, no shelf in the shower besides a small soap holder, no mirror or bin outside the bathroom. The breakfast was a bit limited for novotel (compared to stays in other novotels) and I was really disappointed to find that the baked beans had meat in them - they're normally my 'go to' protein for hotel breakfasts! I asked the waiter about it and he said he'd check out back to see if they had any beans they could cook up for me without meat - he never returned with an answer. At all other times the staff were amazing; very friendly, polite, helpful, and David in particular who took our car when we first arrived remembered all our names and helped us out very much - he's a keeper!

We loved our stay at the novotel Melbourne Central. From the friendly staff, nice new smart and comfy rooms. Lovely view of the Melbourne city skyline. As an accor plus member we were treated so well we felt very lucky. Location is perfect just near Melbourne Central station. The breakfast was so good, well above your normal standard hotel breakfast, with nice touches of home made chutney fresh juices etc. I have stayed in many Melbourne hotels and this now is definitely my favourite.
