Liked the Room and the Staff were very polite and the room was very Clean, however I do not expect to have to tighten up the Toilet Seat by hand (to avoid it getting broken) and the Wash Hand Basin was partly blocked taking ages to empty. Sorry but the MAINTENANCE was a disappointment. After pointing this out on day one it should have been rectifed by the next day.

Entered our room to find window open and a radiator which didn’t work. When we complained we were brought a portable radiator which wouldn’t have heated a room.we asked if the young man was being serious and he just said yeah. We were later moved to a small room on the next floor which was a lot smaller than the one we had paid for. On going to bed that evening we may as well have been in the pubs and clubs over the road as the noise was very load. The noise was even worse on Saturday night and when we went for breakfast on Sunday morning there was no white bread to make toast. When we checked out on Sunday we mentioned our complaints to the receptionist and we were told that the hotel had had to move people from the hotel because of the floods so they didn’t have many rooms in the hotel that weekend. Unfortunately for us we had already paid to stay in March 2020 because if we had experienced the hotel before booking next years stay we wouldn’t have bothered.

Facility is old, tired and only just clean enough.....

I assume this was once a great hotel, but years of under investment and demotivated staff have left a sorry excuse for customer accommodation. Room carpet was quite stained / dirty and the general decor was tired with any attempts to refresh extremely low quality. There was a minibar (fridge) stuffed in a wardrobe leaving no hanging space for clothes? This was just bizarre. Public areas again appeared dirty / untidy / in need of refurb, although the staff were reasonably polite and helpful. Computer system crashed on check out morning leaving the team with no means of printing a receipt - I had to ring up later to obtain a receipt over email. I had a reasonably positive view of the Accor Hotel Group until I stayed at this property - the Danum is seriously in need of investment as it is currently damaging the Accor Brand.

Insulation is very bad. Could not sleep because always noisy when lift started moving! Room is wet. Traces of moisture behind furniture Room is small. Not possible to move around the bed. Bathroom is good

Need a ramp for wheelchair to get in front entrance. Lift needs to be bigger as can’t get a wheelchair in it. Very nice room.

I travel pretty regularly and the trip in question was my 6th hotel stay in 2019. I have sound 17 faults with my stay and it definitely feels like the hotel has been designed to annoy and frustrate the guest. 1 big chunks missing from stairs on entrance making it dangerous for vulnerable customers as white on white is not easy to spot. 2. Door on my room does not shut properly (door and frame are not designed properly to slot in together) and can only be shut by slamming the door. 3. There is nothing next to bed eg shelf or bedside table meaning if you have an alarm you have to walk across the room to turn it off, same with have a drink of water, blow your nose etc etc nearly all bedrooms have a surface next to the bed in houses and hotels alike. 4. bathroom door handle is broken and just hanging on door 5. big crack between the wall and the skirting board 6. toilet seat is fixed too far back on the system meaning if you lift it up and let go it will immediately fall back down and not stay open 7. shelf has been removed from above the sink so is just a frame for a shelf and utterly pointless and leaves nowhere in the bathroom to put toiletries eg toothpaste, comb, face wash etc. 8. shower is freezing cold until you run the hot tap shower cubicle is minuscule so means there is nowhere else to stand and you have to get blasted with freezing cold water until it heats up and then get scalded when it gets too hot. 9. television does not work properly guide only tells you whats on the channel your on and is not a guide and system to get this is so backwards you have to go into home then screen goes black then brings up home screen then select guide screen goes black then brings picture back with whats on overlaid on top and then to get back you have to press home screen goes black and then brings up home screen then select tv then screen goes black then back onto tv pic then press plus or minus channel and repeat the same again tvs have not worked this backwards and un Unser friendly in the last 20 years. 10. horrible view of a brick wall 11. when I get back to my room after first night in the afternoon I received a letter saying I had to change rooms meaning I have to repack all my stuff go to reception and get new key go up to second room and unpack everything again. 12. new room is ridiculously far from reception/lift I had to go through corridor after corridor after corridor after corridor to get to it, I wasn't sure if I was still in Doncaster or in a neighbouring town 13. My horrible view of a brick wall is now replaced with a horrible view of a fire escape. 14. there is some constant annoying buzzing noise meaning I have to close the window at night meaning no fresh air in the room 15. new shower is fixed at an angle that fires water way too far away from the shower and past the water guard. 16. second shower is scaldingly hot after about 10 mins and even if you turn shower to maximum cold it is still scaldingly hot meaning you have to have shower incredibly quickly or get burned. 17. curvature of bath in 2nd room is way to steep with not enough flat space making it dangerously slippery when using. 18. Tv while guide is working in this room it is placed at a really bed position if watching it from the bed which is the only place anyone would in a hotel room. The room feels like its intentionally designed to be UN user friendly and I can put up with maybe a couple of things on this list but all 18 together makes for a very unpleasant stay and the design of a hotel that has zero interest in making customers feel at ease and want to return. I have stayed at many chain hotels before (Holiday Inn, Premier Inn, Hilton etc) and while sometimes you get a few issues which I can live with but never have I had this many faults at any of them. This was my first stay at a Mercure hotel and I definitely will not be in a rush to return to one and will give my money to a hotel that actually wants its guests to enjoy staying with them.

Decided on Mercure, even though we parked next to Premier Inn, as from the photographs it appeared in much better condition. Rooms look dated. Poor sleep due to the pillows being as thick as a sheet of A4 paper, along with the constant sound of the nearby lift opening on our floor, as the speaker would bong when the doors opened, with loud mechanical noise. Could not use the wall mounted electric radiator as it would produce a strong burning smell when in use, possibly from age and dust. Will choose Premier Inn next time. TV also didn't work at all. Room 216.

The staff are amazing.. very very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. However not enough staff on at breakfast. The main fault in the stay was the noise from the club outside. I know there isnt much you can do . But why is that level acceptable to be heard outside a club? Overall a nice stay. Great staff but noise meant lack of sleep.

While service and restaurant are good, the entire facility looks dated and in some parts quite frankly falling apart. Lift didn’t work for two days, bathrooms are sub standard. The place need more than a good hand of fresh paint.

The staff were lovely (reception, cleaners, catering) could not have asked for better people but a few issues with the room. The door didn't shut properly unless you slammed it. The shelf in the bathroom had no glass on it so only a frame which wasn't helpful . The bed was comfy and the room clean.

We broke our journey from France at Doncaster and generally it was a good experience but the lack of parking near the hotel [it was a very wet day] wasnt a good first impression, however all the staff were helpful and friendly especially a Frenchman whose name escapes me, my only grouse was my shower which was locked on to portable mode but it did work after a fashion.
