No lift. Not as garish as some 'styles' but still not a 'calming' effect. And a bit of a maze. Room just starting to show signs of the time since last updating (missing grout, scratched surfaces..) TV didn't work properly.

« Good Location and customer service »

Hotel was in good location with convenient parking. Stairs to top floor were steep in places and narrow so carrying more than one bag was difficult. Room was OK but a little dated. TV was very small. Wi-fi was reliable and fast enough for email and browsing. Continental breakfast was good. Sink drained very slowly and when reported to reception I was advised it would be fixed upon my return (3 hours later) but it wasn't.

« Overall Satisfied »

The room was decent enough. Our request to have our room at the quiet place was satisfied. I did expect to have hot breakfast included in the price as well though which wasn’t the case. Reception was pretty welcoming. We reported the issue of leaking air conditioner and it was fixed the same day - well impressed with that. Also the receptionist helped us to connect to the WiFi. I would prefer though to not need to connect to WiFi every time I want to use the internet. The location of the hotel is pretty good.

« Helpful staff but room was inferior. »

Unfortunately we booked the wrong hotel. We had seen the hotel on line with a swimming pool so were disappointed to find out that there is more than one Ibis in Reading and ours didn't have a pool. We also arrived at the wrong hotel to start with so were parked in the NCP car park. We stayed in room 105 which was very small. When we opened the window there was a constant droning presumably from the generators. However the staff were helpful and we have learnt from this experience. The evening meal in the Indian restaurant was fantastic.

« Shoddy room, poor staff. »

Our TV did not work. The night manager came upstairs and couldn't make it work. The next morning, the day manager came upstairs and got it working in seconds. The phone was dead so, in order to speak to Reception, I had to go all the way downstairs. There was also a really ugly stain down the back of the door, where somebody had oiled the hinge at the top of the door and oil had slicked down. The room was very small and pokey and this would have been easier to overlook if the TV and phone had worked!

It is in a good location. The staff are very friendly. However, the facilities are very old and so is the hotel. WIFI did not work for my laptop. I possibly would not stay in this hotel in Reading any more.

« Dirty room, workman tools left inside »

When our staff members arrived (this was a business booking) there was workman tools left in the room, including a big tube of paint, dirty rubbish and bin bags, step ladders and generally the room was messy. This is not what we expected and by no means what you represent on your website. I am extremely disappointed with the service and would like somebody to contact me as soon as possible. As this booking was made through hotels.com we will be contacting them as well.

« Dissapointed »

Reception staff was perfect. However i could hear a drilling sound or maybe the sound of the radiator at 3am which was disturbing my sleep as the noise was contstant. I find the breakfast staff too eager to take all the food inside 30 mins breakfast was due to finish. They were in a rush to finish basically wasnt a nice feeling. The baguettes in breakfast were stale and unpleasant to eat.

the room was OK however the stairs were hard at breakfast the smell of the night before was in the dining room at dinner we waited over an hour after we ordered for it to arrive no one informed us other would take so long

« Good Location »

This hotel is located right in the city center and not far from the train station too. The building is listed so no lift and i had to carry 3 heavy suitcases upstairs. Breakfast was very basic and did not meet my expectations. the room was very neat and bed was comfortable.

« Poor service in the Restaurant »

My room was nice a clean and good beds, however staff were not engaging at reception nor in the restaurant. I asked for Pims at the bar, now I know it's only just summer and did not expect the bar to have all the ingredients however the lady really did not know what I was asking for a Pimms and lemonade with what ever trimmings you have. I firstly got neat Pimms I asked for lemonade and they I gave up, slice a orange and lemon would of been enough!. Restaurant; very slow service and when the food arrives was lukewarm both starters and main, we did not send back because we had already waited so long. If I am put into this hotel again I will eat else where.

Floor was very very squeaky so felt like we had to tiptoe around:/. The bedding wasnt very great it seems as though it hadnt been changed as there was quite a few marks all on the sides of the quilt... the overall room was just underdated considering its an “ibis” hotel it’s nothing like the one next door to novetel

« Fits a purpose »

Hotel was average - our room felt quite dated and was small. The shower was either very hot or very cold. There was incorrect signage - a sign telling us how to lock the bathroom door, however there was no lock. Only decaf coffee in the room. We had friends staying in a different room and their room was much nicer than ours and they paid less!

« Fairly clean and comfortable but cold and lack of choice for breakfast. »

My room was fairly clean and comfortable and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. However, my room was rather cold and there were no instructions on operating the heating. There was not much choice at breakfast and there was no cooked option without a supplement. This contrasts with my previous stays at other Ibis hotels.
