« The personnel is great, breakfast is OK, and the room was quite reasonable »

The only thing I didn't like was not being able to open the window.

« Real value for money »

Once I got to the hotel, I had booked the solo room. Being mildly claustrophobic I couldn't do the small room which was really lovely with table bed, ensuite. The reception moved me to a double. Room service from the restaurant is cash only or pay downstairs with your card and that was marvelous. I would recommend this hotel to anyone

« Pleasant but noisy »

Nicely refurbed hotel, does rather smell of Indian food, but that's OK if you like that, the major drawn back is that its on the corner of two main streets and at weekends gets all the passing club traffic until the early hours.

« Too hot too noisy decor incomplete with a breakfast a pig would not eat »

First thing was the room even with the windows open it was way to hot. Because the windows had to be open all the noise of the tone kept us awake past 4 am. The breakfast is a joke some tough croissant plastic cheese and kids style boxed cereals. The room was unfinished the bath was chipped. Tv was old and you could hardly see it. I would not stay or recommend ibis styles based on my experience from this stay. This was a second stay to compensate for a poor stay before but rather than make it better just made my opinion of this hotel 100% worse

« Nice stay for Reading Festival »

Our twin room was changed to two single rooms, but at no extra cost, so no problem. Rooms were nice, however a little too hot. Good service at the front desk.

« Disappointing »

From check in I experienced a series of disappointment. The car park situation was not explained fully and had to locate a car park nearby - being told I would pay £3 for the night as opposed to £7 for the hotel car park! This was not the case - I had to pay £6.50 - disappointing! I was given the hotel room 306 - I was not asked whether I would be able to climb four sets of stairs - I am not disabled but have difficulty walking. The last two sets of stairs were not very wide - I am a broad person and found it difficult to climb these stairs! Disappointing! I located my room which was in the attic area of the hotel! Why was I given this hotel room when there were younger more able persons checking in in the queue - if I had been an older person would I have been allocated this room? No people skills! Disappointing! The room was clean however the door to the bathroom was a thin door and I had difficulty getting through it! The water pressure in the bathroom was non-existent! I ran the taps on the hand basin and the water dribbled out! Enough to wash my hands. I ran the shower - hardly any water came out - no pressure?! Disappointing! I had to leave the hotel then as I was late for a meeting. On return it was very late and had to locate the room in your maze of a hotel! Following morning went to have breakfast. Was asked my room number but nothing else was explained? I was not shown to a table either, the staff just walked away? I sat at a nearby table and helped myself to the continental breakfast available - as I was preparing to leave I noticed some people in the room had full English breakfasts - I looked for information and found a small sign on a table that stated a cooked breakfast was available at a surcharge - again no staff available to make enquiries? I had not stayed at your hotel before and would not stay there again - disappointing! I checked out of the hotel and told my grievances to your receptionist - was told if I stayed there again to ask for a lower floor room?! Disappointing! No people skills! What a disappointment!

Average, expected it to be better finished as it was new. Corridors smelt funny. Great location.

« Single room was very poor »

The single room was probably a conversion of the roof space. It was stiflingly hot; the bed was built on the bulkhead of the stairs and so was like a kid's cabin bed; the shower barely had enough power to wash shampoo out of my hair and the floorboards creaked with every single movement. Apart from that......

« Great Experience »

Extremely Comfortable Beds, Great Area and lovely service. Process of ordering a drink felt unusual, I went to reception and was advised I had to order it at the Curry House next door which was confusing, as it wasn't well signposted. Having said that, I'd be happy to stay there again!

« Expectations were misleading »

Dirty towel Queen bed expected was smaller than my double bed Extremely scaled mouldy toilet Expected English breakfast as breakfast included. We Got continental which I didn't even acknowledge. We are in ENGLAND! I go to Spain. Cyprus. And I get an English buffet breakfast included that includes all options. When said we were unhappy. There was no interest to even ask why . I run and own a salon in Brookmans Park Hertfordhire and i pride myself on making sure I have done and said everything to make sure that client is happy. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone or stay here again. Which is a shame as it was a nice location and I enjoyed seeing a bit of Reading as it was my first time . I will probably go back to stay but find somewhere else. For £141 I don't know what I paid for apart from to sleep in a bed that was smaller than my double and ment to be a queen !

« Very nice stay. »

Extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Very good breakfast in cozy environment. The had a few problems with the toilet in our room as the shower was very difficult to manage and the water coming out of the tap of the hand wash sprinkled in 100 directions. Another thing was that the floor creaked a lot - a bit annoying when sleeping. More, the room became very hot at night, and we could not find any way to control the aircondition - if there was any at all.

« Not too bad but could be improvement »

The hotel decor was very good. However the bathroom tap dripped, & the plug did not work & also our room was quite small. We paid quite a lot of money for our stay as it was unfortunately Bank Holiday & the Reading Festival, but we needed to stay overnight for a family wedding, so I suppose we expected more. Breakfast was basic & it took a while to figure out how to get round the error message on the coffee/hot water machine that said that the bin needed emptying! Beware of booking a taxi through the hotel as it is very expensive. I did tell the Receptionist this & she was going to feed this back to the taxi company. The hotel is in a good location very close to the Oracle Centre.

« Indian food smell room or sauna room »

Upon arriving i was persuaded to upgrade to a suite for additional punds and found my self in a room smelling a lot of Indian food. After a while the room got unnaturally hot and i opened the window (to a back yard) and found that thisis where the food smell comes from. I then realised that all clothing, luggage, me and my sun would smell/reek indian food. So i asked for Another room. i got Another very smll room without foodsmell but with hints of cigaretts. After a while i started sweating and realised that the towel heater in the bathroom was on full blow and that the floor also seemed heated? I asked if they could lowr the heat but no, unfortunately not. By this is was too late to change the room again. While in the room i had to stay in my underwear and have all windows open in the room and bathrooom to the pigeoninfested inner yard. The yard also included some kind of smoke area that occationally was used resuting in a slight fog in the room. Me being an engineer i went to Claesohlsson and bought pliers to adjust the towelheater, but it was stuck. Whe i left the hotel i realised that the extra suite moey was also never paid back to me. With a bit of luck the Place will go bankrupt soon. I paid 120 Pounds for rooms that should have cost 5 Pounds max. Yes i could hae complained more but being on vacation with my five year old s. i seek a journey to be remebered as a happy occation not one when daddy whent mainac over the sh***y rooms. So i left and will never ever return again to that Hotel, i will use the hotel i usually live in n my bi-monthly business trips to Reading. It seems that the place is an old schack of "Faulty Towers" quality that wehnt lucky and was baught by IBIS who generally hav good places elswhere.
