« Great rooms, but terrible parking »

The rooms, hotel and restaurant were all very good. However there wasn't anywhere for disabled parking. My father in-law had to walk up the car parks very steep hill as the front door was locked. Then when i went to find a park there was no available parking. Also parking was either a distance away from the rooms or on a very steep angel.

Accepting renovations, wondering why more thought wasn't put into traffic sound abatement and appreciating the new rooms were all negated by a few key staff with poor attitude (f&b - mostly b and foh where one team member was particularly dissmissive where most were glorious in their engagement.

Great location, plenty of parking, room was very clean and the the bed super comfy. Only glitch was the fluorescent lights outside the room which blared all night through the curtains. Tried through reception to see if I could turn them off but no luck. Otherwise all good!

Convenient location, comfortable, will be excited to try out the new rooms when they are available, staff are great, Kelly, Laurie & Nikki, still think the restaurant menu is a bit fussy for my taste possibly would not eat there for dinner but breakfast is great.

Good central CBD location with ample off street parking. Our room faced the City Park, which was adjacent to a busy arterial with excessive traffic noise during busy times of the day. This impacted our experience at staying at the Hotel. Recommend also that kitchen staff check the freshness of "cut fruit salad" that is served. During breakfast on one day of our stay the cut rock melon "was off ", smelly and had a bad taste. We brought this to the attention of our server who disposed of this salad at the time. I question how if it is "fresh" how this could occur, more likely cut the day before and placed back into the refrigerator for later use.

« Not as good as I expected »

My room was pleasant and newly refurbished, however, the bedside lights did not work. I asked the staff member who delivered my room service if he could assist. He couldn't get them to work and said he would send someone who could. No one came. The next morning the main light switches wouldn't work. As I was getting ready to leave and reception didn't open until the time I left I got ready without lights. When I mentioned the lights weren't working to the staff member at reception on checking out her response was very blase. While I understand and appreciate it wasn't her fault and I was not irate, it would have been excellent customer service and made me feel like my experience mattered if she had acknowledged my feedback and apologised for my experience. The exhaust fan in the bathroom also made a loud rattle for approximately 30 seconds everytime the light in the bathroom was turned on. This could be heard from the hallway outside the room. Unfortunately based on my experience I would not stay at this hotel again, or recommend it.

At Mercure Launceston, we do strive to provide good service for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. But I can see that we fell short on this occasion. Regarding the bedside lights and the main lights not working, I am very sorry, I can appreciate that this would have been very frustrating especially when trying to get ready early in the morning. I would be annoyed by this too. I am following up with Maintenance to double check that this has been attended to and to ensure it is not continuing to occur in the room you stayed in. Additionally, I am following up with our Operations Manager and the Front Office Supervisor regarding your experience when passing feedback to our Reception team upon your departure. I totally agree, that not being heard when expressing a disappointment is then doubly frustrating, and I'm so sorry that this was our response to you. We have in fact recently conducted training with our Reception staff on how to adequately handle guest feedback and complaints, and I can see that we need to continue to work to improve in this area. It was ok. My room was depressing, dark. The bathroom had been done up but there was no natural lighting and the task lighting was in the wrong place. The bed was comfy but I wouldn't ever stay there again.

« Clean but noisy »

Room clean and newly refurbished but so noisy being on a main road with cars and trucks passing all night. Double glazing urgently required. Given upgrade at check in but would have preferred rear room which may have been quieter. Check in ok, then 2 drink vouchers which we did not discover till morning as they were not pointed out. Did not g t bistro being a Sunday night so had to go out for dinner. Breakfast good despite the limited choice. Need timer pillows

we had an overnight stay at the end of our 2 week Tassie Adventure. Although the hotel is undergoing a refurb and is a construction site, it was still good for us. We had a great dinner in the restaurant, enjoyed our complimentary drink and had breakfast as well. We walked in the park across the road and it was close to everything that we needed. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. We were a little concerned with the exhaust fan in the bathroom as it is in the shower cubicle close to the shower head(electricity & water not a good mix) and it is automatically turned on with the light. A separate switch for the light would have made it feel safer. Ont he whole All Good.
