Overall a good hotel, a little dated, but value for money. Shower in the bathroom was a little disappointing - still had shower curtain - very 90s! Staff were very helpful and very accomodating with arranging a late night meal.

« expensive and very disappointing »

the traffic noise is enough for me not to return - but my stay there was the worst hotel stay I've had in years! Check in was not friendly OR helpful. after confusing parking instructions and resulting issues, my return and plea for help was again not addressed in a friendly or helpful manner. A very frustrating start. The ONLY reason I booked here was for the free breakfast promo that was running - but it got deleted from my booking somehow when it was refreshed!!! For the amount I paid, I was really disappointed in the amenities. No aircon in the room and when we needed to open the window for air - the traffic noise was even worse, especially as we were put in a corner room of a busy intersection. I'm a fan of Accor, but no special treatment at all here for Accor members, not even a smile! For some reason, the ratings on this page keep auto populating to excellent

« not as advertised »

We had a superior room which was filthy shabby and dated, the carpet had coloured stains over a foot wide in 3 places. The wall paper was torn and marked. The fridge was unstable so it fell forward when you opened the door. There were marks on the curtains. We had prepaid for 3 nights or would have moved elsewhere. We were moved on 2 nights to a standard room which was fractionally cleaner. I was so disappointed that this hotel was listed on the Accor website as I had complete faith that Accor had a certain standard which i would find acceptable. This hotel was not up to my standard.

« Comfortable and convenient »

Arrived late at night so rang to gain entry to reception. Stayed 4 nights. Very quiet. Small room but enough space for the 3 of us. Having a microwave, dishes and a proper kitchen sink was handy. Having a tea towel would be useful but we had spare hand towels from the bathroom to use. Beds comfy. Spare powerpoints near beds and above desk. Big window so lots of natural light. Wifi free with Accor membership. Laundry took a little longer as machine stopped a few times due to being unbalanced. Did not need dryer as clothes dried in 24hrs being on hangers in room. Full supermarket a few blocks down Willis St, used public bus stop round the corner to get to Zealandia but otherwise generally walked everywhere. Did not use the restaurant as we always ended up being out and about elsewhere!

« WOW »

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and very quiet even though it was situated on a busy thoroughfare. Dining room - good service and good variety. To be able to park car was an added bonus. Foyer & corridors could do with a bit of a spruce up. Carpet very dark and old!

« Good location and good value »

Close to town, good parking options, and beside a good food court - what's not to like! The rooms have been refreshed and the restaurant is adequate, and so we keep coming back to this good value hotel.

« Nice enough »

Overall stay was pleasant. Just needs upgrading of rooms but overall look was fine. Bed was ok but not great.A bit noisy Friday/Saturday nights. Breakfast had a good selection. Found the staff to be courteous. All in all nice enough hotel.

Mercure Wellington Abel Tasman Hotel is centrally located and with in easy reach of the the main attractions of Wellington. The room was tidy and clean. The hotel has a bistro style restaurant on site and there are other dining options near by.

« a weekend away to visit my son »

I have stayed at this property before, and again it suits my needs...some say they can't wait to get home to their own bed after a holiday,But I found the bed to be very, very comfortable,on a par with my own at home..the staff are very friendly and helpful.I didn't dine at the restaurant, but indeed enjoyed a few icy cold beers at happy hour. the Able Tasman is very close to the Cuba street mall, with shopping and cafes aplenty. the room was quite spacious with sky tv a bonus.the shower was good and bathroom clean and tidy...I will definately rteturn to the Mercure able Tasman...

« Excellant little Wellington hotel »

What a lovely old hotel beautifully upgraded but still retaining all the charm of yesteryear. Very nice, friendly staff and very good food in their restaurant. Well located in the heart of central Wellington to all attractions, shops and restaurants.

« Convenient location and value for money. »

The hotel is at a good location for easy access to shopping in Willis St and Cuba Street. Arriving by car is a little problematical but once parked it's easy to get to places on foot. The rooms are spacious and have been upgraded to a good standard, except for the lack of double glazing to cut down street noise. .

« Overnight Stay »

An ideal hotel choice in a convenient location in the central city close to eateries, the harbour and attractions nearby, a quick and easy (airport) bus ride to a stop a few minutes walk away from the hotel. Professional and helpful staff. Comfortable spacious room. Nice restaurant, good service, but unfortunately closed (except for breakfast) on Good Friday.

« Little old boutique hotel in the city center »

Nice boutique hotel in city center. Staffs were helpful with our situation on the parking of our big van. If only the weather was nice, we would have been able to explore more of the city and spend more nights there.

« Not a typical Accor hotel »

The ambiance is not right. Also caught by surprise that I needed a NZD 2 dollars coin to make use of the PC in the lobby. It' not the case in other Mercure, Ibis & Pullman I stayed in the past 1-2 years. The Ibis Wellington also provided free PC in its lobby.

« Recent stay »

We always enjoy staying at Mercure hotels, this is the first time at the Abel Tasman. It was a pity that that on the second day/evening they were understaffed, due I believe to illness. We waited for 50 minutes for our meal, only ordered a main course, mine excellent, my wife's so/so an antipasto platter, which unfortunately was not true to description. The only negative point I would like to make is the fact that their gaming room is only reached through the restaurant , and their were some scruffy individuals making their way through to and it, one on the way out was completely high on something and banged into tables and chairs ( unoccupied luckily ) and another one who stopped at a bar leaner on the way out and consumed something left over on a plate and drank the dregs from a beer glass, not a good look. My previous stay at this hotel prior to it being a Mercure there was a side entrance to enter the gaming room off Dixon St. I would suggest to management that they look at point of entry and exit as it is not becoming of a branded hotel.. We stayed 3 nights and only ate in once.

Thank you for your feedback. Your feedback is helpful and appreciated. I sincerely apologise with the delay with your meal. I note your comments regarding the gaming room. Unfortunately the laws have changed and we are unable to open the side entrance under the new laws. Your feedback helps make a difference and is very valued. Unfortunately this property is quite rundown, difficult to access, no parking out front makes it difficult to checkin and then get access to underground parking. Was ok for a one night stay. Central to the city, and with Uber present easy to access restaurants, pubs.
