this hotel is value for money. the rooms are spacious enough and took into account the needs of a business traveller. the staff are very friendly. you must try to dine in the restaurant. the menu selection is really good and the service is superb. no fuss and they deliver value for money.

« Better than Expected »

My stay exceeded expectations in terms of comfort, room quality and size, etc. Location is very handy to services. Very quiet until the nearby construction project started up at 8am - thats why the earplugs were provided!

« Fast trip for family bereaved »

Check in was at 9 pm, fast and easy after a long day, happy to give me a later check out. Left charger in the room and they posted it back to me. Only real concern was an ATM within VERY close view to gaming room which is actually a breach of the Gambling Act.

« Great location »

Hotel in a great location only a few minutes walk to Te Papa or Michael Fowler Centre. The earplugs were appreciated as the only down side was the rather loud night life. Room was clean and comfortable.

« Stopover before early flight »

A quick stopover before an early flight out of Wellington. Location and service were excellent. Just a little loud in the room. With the windows shut we could hear street noise quite loudly. Also people returning from a night out was loud in the hallways as conversations were clearly heard along with loudly closing doors

« I didn’t want to leave! »

Such a quaint property. Easy access to Cuba St and Lambton Quay. Wifi is exceptional! Rooms are cosy and clean. Loveeeeed it. They only have tv 1,2&3 so no sky channels but honestly that did not affect the stay. I stayed with my sister and they were happy to change our bed to king singles. Lovely stay.

« Fantastic Location »

Good price, fantastic location, room is of a decent size and clean, checkin/out was fussfree and staff helpful. However, if your room is facing the road it may get a little noisy if a loud vehicle passes by.

« A couple of nights in Wellington »

Overall an enjoyable 2 nights at the Mercure Abel Tasman. The rooms were good quality recently refurbished and the location in the centre of Wellington is ideal for getting around. There is hotel parking available so the car can be parked securely. This does cost $26 per night but is convenient and probably is less than Parking elsewhere. The pros above just about outweigh the cons which are there is no air conditioning in the rooms and with having windows open leads to traffic etc noise especially at night which may effect a good nights sleep.

« Awesome stay for the price »

We stayed here for 3 nights over the new years period. Prior to our stay I read up about the lack of air con, and to be honest, for us that was the only downside we had qualms about. The rooms we got came provided with a small fan which helped but it did get a little hot and stuffy overnight. Everything else was ship shape, the rooms were clean, bathrooms are newly rennovated, housekeeping did a good job, and the staff were friendly. Our package came with a free breakfast option, and because of new years shutdown the bistro only had continental brekkie as an option but we thought it was really good. We had plenty of options in what to have for breakfast and it was delicious for the 3 days we were there. Can't argue about the price we paid for our stay. The parking lot is quite tight and there only enough room for one car at a time to exit/enter, and if you have a bigger car you will definitely struggle to park and exit. Overall we were extremely pleased with our stay!

« It is not a Mercure! »

When it comes to Accor Hotels, I usually do not even consult costumer evaluations, because I know exactly what I will find in each of their brands. This Mercure was a real deception. It seems an old hotel building with a Mercure brand. Expect for the bathroom amenities, everything was not Mercure's. No air-conditioning, no sound-proof windows, old carpets.

« Worth what you pay for »

My sister and I booked a room there except I paid more for an upgraded version. Now I didn't expect a 5 star hotel given the price but the rooms were exactly the same. No air con and it was so hot we didn't end up sleeping and stayed up to go to the airport the next morning.

« Handy location in Central Wellington »

Nice Hotel, comfortable rooms, although no airconditioning, so was a bit warm during the night. Car park next door slightly disturbing in early morning, and check-in guy with a bad cold wasn't a great look.

« Earplugs supplied by Hotel »

Mercure set a high standard not upheld here. I know refurbishing is happening. Strongly suggest double glazing & air conditioning -or at least ceiling fans - to help with street noise which is overwhelmingly loud. So loud we found earplugs supplied in the bedside drawer. Sleep almost impossible.

« Decent place - central location »

place is central but not very 'fresh' feeling a bit tired and if being nice it has 'character' if being mean it is ' dingy' - great place to eat over the road. just overall not that flash but ok - room was clean and tidy and staff friendly

« Great steak. Little else »

Comfy room but poor outlook - onto apartments bedrooms opposite. No 'net' type curtailing for privacy. Room not serviced until 5pm - after we had just returned from day out !Bar restaurant not well presented but food was excellent. Wifi NOT secure so did not use. Quite central for sights & ferry.

« Abel Tasman »

Overall a good hotel, a little dated, but value for money. Shower in the bathroom was a little disappointing - still had shower curtain - very 90s! Staff were very helpful and very accomodating with arranging a late night meal.

« expensive and very disappointing »

the traffic noise is enough for me not to return - but my stay there was the worst hotel stay I've had in years! Check in was not friendly OR helpful. after confusing parking instructions and resulting issues, my return and plea for help was again not addressed in a friendly or helpful manner. A very frustrating start. The ONLY reason I booked here was for the free breakfast promo that was running - but it got deleted from my booking somehow when it was refreshed!!! For the amount I paid, I was really disappointed in the amenities. No aircon in the room and when we needed to open the window for air - the traffic noise was even worse, especially as we were put in a corner room of a busy intersection. I'm a fan of Accor, but no special treatment at all here for Accor members, not even a smile! For some reason, the ratings on this page keep auto populating to excellent

« not as advertised »

We had a superior room which was filthy shabby and dated, the carpet had coloured stains over a foot wide in 3 places. The wall paper was torn and marked. The fridge was unstable so it fell forward when you opened the door. There were marks on the curtains. We had prepaid for 3 nights or would have moved elsewhere. We were moved on 2 nights to a standard room which was fractionally cleaner. I was so disappointed that this hotel was listed on the Accor website as I had complete faith that Accor had a certain standard which i would find acceptable. This hotel was not up to my standard.

« Comfortable and convenient »

Arrived late at night so rang to gain entry to reception. Stayed 4 nights. Very quiet. Small room but enough space for the 3 of us. Having a microwave, dishes and a proper kitchen sink was handy. Having a tea towel would be useful but we had spare hand towels from the bathroom to use. Beds comfy. Spare powerpoints near beds and above desk. Big window so lots of natural light. Wifi free with Accor membership. Laundry took a little longer as machine stopped a few times due to being unbalanced. Did not need dryer as clothes dried in 24hrs being on hangers in room. Full supermarket a few blocks down Willis St, used public bus stop round the corner to get to Zealandia but otherwise generally walked everywhere. Did not use the restaurant as we always ended up being out and about elsewhere!

« WOW »

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and very quiet even though it was situated on a busy thoroughfare. Dining room - good service and good variety. To be able to park car was an added bonus. Foyer & corridors could do with a bit of a spruce up. Carpet very dark and old!
