« Great facility but not operated well perhaps because in the inappropriate place »

I went for a short family vacation with plans to stay mostly in the hotel enjoying in house facilities and occasionally visiting a few tourist attractions outside and reading about this Grand Mercure as a 5 star resort, We chose this with great expectations. However it was a complete disappointment as the hotel looked like half shut except for the rooms and restaurant. There was not even air conditioning in public areas leaving lobby, coffee shop and corridors outside the rooms were quite warm / hot. Buffet food was horrible, though inexpensive. Only bright spot in this hotel was one person, Restaurant Manager, Collin Lu, though the food quality was something was helpless & hopeless, he genuinely tried to make some difference with his friendly approach & service attitude. We moved to HILTON Qingdao Golden beach the next day where the experience was completely opposite. Only question that came to our mind was, Sorry, “ why did we waste that one night in Mercure?”

« Always made to feel so welcome here »

Our second visit for just a one night stay but we were made to feel so welcome that we will return again. Brook welcomed us warmly again upon arrival and Bonnie could not do enough to help us the next day. Automatically upgraded our room, offered late check out and discounted dining in the Western restaurant. Quiet and relaxing stay with good food, lovely spacious room and wonderful staff throughout.

We were made to feel so welcome, particularly by Bonnie and Brook. From upgraded room, a Birthday cake and late check out we were made to feel so special. We were treated so well and if this is typical then the Service is outstanding, it certainly was for us. Restaurant food also very good. Well done all!

Not knowing Chinese Mandarin made things a little more difficult than usual. But I managed to work things out and the staff were beautifully accommodating. It was a pleasure staying here and I hope to return some day and explore the area a bit more. Thank you to all of the staff for being patient with me :-)

I stayed for a short time when on Business in Qingdao. very comfortable and the staff were very helpful and easy to deal with. I will be back next time. Note: it is about 45 minutes drive from the city center, but only 20 minutes from the main commercial business area and across the road from the convention center.
