The physical property is very grandeur and the room itself is very spacious and extremely comfortable bed. Than you for allowing me to check in early and approving my late check out. However I did encounter an issue during my stay that made it very unpleasant. At 11pm I called GSA to ask for the 'my sleep experience' amenities as advertised in the in-room compendium. However I was then transferred to 'in-room' service who was very confused as to why I was requesting a lavender pillow,eyeshade and bath bubbles. After 6 phone calls to 4 different departments and various individuals and 2 and a half ours later, I was given 1/3 items I asked for and it turns out to be a firm pillow instead of a lavender pillow. By this time it was already almost 1am and we had requested the amenities at 11pm for bed. I was travelling with my girlfriend who has trouble sleeping and was woken up by all the constant phone calls to our room hence she was very fatigued and did not make it to breakfast the next day (which we had already paid for). This was a very disappointing aspect of the hotel as I expected the staff to at least understand the full services offered by the hotel, especially if it is advertised in the guest's room. Moreover, the breakfast staff were very inattentive. I arrived at breakfast around 6:30 am to only see 4 front of house staff who were huddled by the bar area talking instead of paying attention to the guests. Since no one was behind the Japanese counter, I had to physically search for staff and ask to be served. Moreover my plates were not cleared and I had to pile them around the table. Highly disappointing for a hotel with great potential and especially carrying the Sofitel brand.

Front desk staffs reception are improving, concierge staff need to service with a smile, club's lounge staffs are warm and friendly, but cocktails serving need to improve with alternate choices of food. Quite disappointed with gym operations as it like becoming and family & children playground, when hotel extended to more domestic guest. Changing room maintenance was rather poor with water flooding on the floor, paper throwing around on the basin and on the floor from these domestic guests!

The hotel is beautiful, the staff is extremely hospitable, the rooms are well decorated and the services exceed standards. The only problem is that it is located close to SHA airport, but getting to it is very difficult, if you do not have a car. On 3 occasions, the taxis from the airport and the railway station ended up getting lost, making a 5 minute journey into a 20 minute adventure. I subsequently just ended walking from the railway station to hotel (which was about 20 or so minutes). Much of the area around the hotel is also undergoing construction, so in a couple of areas, the surrounding neighborhood will look quite nice, I am sure. The only problem I experienced in the hotel - terrible wifi in the room - unable to get much done.

It is a magnificent hotel; the architecture highlights the french orientation of the hotel. It is very welcoming; the rooms are well decorated; the staff is extremely hospitable and friendly. However, getting to the hotel, if you do not have a car and have to rely on taxis, is tricky. On 3 occasions, the taxis were not able to get me to the hotel from the SHA airport and Hongqaio railway station, though it is 5 minutes away. Also, the surrounding area is undergoing a lot of construction - which in the future will make this a extremely desirable location. Also, WIFI in room was spotty and could use improvement.

When I first arrived on the morning of 17 June, I was disappointed because I went to check in at Le Club Accor counter on level 1 and was ignored for almost 10 minutes and shuttled between counter staff before finally being told I had to wait another 30 to 45 minutes for my room. I asked if there was somewhere I could get a coffee and sit down, having just gotten off a red eye flight. I was told the bar was open but I would have to pay for my coffee. Finally after check in, my companion and I went on our own to our room without any assistance being offered us for our 2 large luggages nor being escorted to the room as I was made to understand would be the procedure based on an email sent to me by Aless. Thank goodness my room 718 was beautiful and when I went to the executive lounge in the late morning, I experienced the warmest welcome and great service from Alicia and Miya. Their great attitudes made up for the terrible experience we had in the morning. Subsequently I am glad to say your executive lounge staff Alicia, Miya and Anna performed stellarly in the service area. Alicia was really helpful in providing directions to the places I needed to go and even arranged for a birthday cake for my companion on 24 June even though the system did not reflect it. Miya helped me call the bank to check opening hours on her own initiative when I needed to go to the bank on the 18 June. Anna helped me to extend my room check out time when she found out my companion was suffering a mild case of heat stroke on our last day. I was also pleasantly surprised when Anna walked us to our car headed to the airport together with her director, and Jackson also came to say goodbye. This is by far the best service we have received in Shanghai so far. I hope that I can have a similar good experience when I come back in a few months. Some points to feedback though, your hotel seemed to have quite a few issues with electronics. Firstly, the wifi in the room was erratic. Secondly, there were a few occasions when the shower suddenly turned cold for a second. Thirdly, one of the mornings at breakfast when they scanned my card, the wrong room number came up and the manager curtly told me I was only entitled to one person for breakfast. Lastly there was one day when the lock on my room malfunctioned and I had to wait at the lounge until it was fixed. I must commend the young fellow that helped me deal with this as he patiently escorted us to the room and tested the lock, when his card didn’t work, he escorted us to the lounge and came back for us when the lock was reset. I didn’t get his name but he showed good thinking on his feet and gave us great service.

Lovely room - its always nice to find a comfy bed . Staff were excellent, friendly, courteous, efficient and quick to ensure that any of our requests were satisfied completely. A shuttle bus service to the nearest Metro station would be idea.

« Wonderful and enjoyable stay in the airport area »

The check in experiences was nice l, friendly and effcient, which left me a very good feeling of the stay. Room was new, nice, classic, food and beverage service is good. The location is close to hongqiao airport around 10 Min max by car. There is a big shopping center next by the hotel owner. The lounge service is good. Swimming pool and gym is beautiful and luckly not so many people.

I truly enjoyed the stay again. The check in, room condition and service, breakfast are excellent. If there’s anything need to be improved, it should be WiFi connection. It was not stable throughout my 2 day stay.

Well decorated hotel lobby with French style design, The Kwee Zeen restaurant was large and spacious serving wide varieties of food, We felt relaxed and enjoyed our welcome drinks at Lebar Lounge, nice handout. We also like to thanks the staff at the Club Millesime for serving us for a couple of days during our stay there. I would like to commend Ms Anna at the Club Millesime for her excellent service, attentiveness and helpful, when she knows that we are from Singapore she feels happy seeing old friends, chatting and recommended us some attractions in Shanghai. While I'm waiting at the Club Millesime waiting for 2 other friends to meet us, she even guide them up from the hotel lobby. The room was large and spacious and well decorated design. Although the hotel location is near airport and train stations, some taxi driver refused to fetch guests to the hotel, suggest to have a regular shuttle service from the airport and train station.
