It was our 8th visit to Samui. Both hotels we usually stay at were being renovated and we chose the Novotel for its location and facilities. We generally had an excellent stay and will consider the hotel for our next visit. The staff were accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly. Breakfast was good. Our room was a little tired, but well-appointed and very comfortable. A few minor things needed fixing in our room and you REALLY need to replace your room towels. They were threadbare and several of them had large holes in them. Not what I would expect from any Novotel. Otherwise it was a lovely stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at your hotel. Your staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfasts were excellent and the evening meal we enjoyed very good also. The only downside was that on two days, we needed to remind staff to attend to our room - it had not been serviced on two consecutive days - we had to request service in the afternoon after returning from daily activities.

It was our first time in Koh Sumai and what an enjoyable experience it was. Although the actual hotel was a little tired and in need of some work the same cannot be said about the staff who were always there to help in any way they could. A special mention goes to the team at the Beach Bar and Restuarant, especially Meaw, who were so friendly and always had a smile on their face. When we return we will definitely be staying at the hotel again

Lacked the little things that make a holiday special

While the hotel met all the basic requirements, it just lacked the special touches that make a holiday memorable. It was all a bit generic. The first 2 nights a rooster began crowing outside our room at 4am. We requested a room change. This was done but staff seemed aware of the rooster issue, so I am surprised that with such a low occupancy that room would be allocated to a family in the first place. The hotel itself is very concrete and lacks atmosphere. The beach is lovely but the pool is uninviting and sunloungers are uncomfortable. The room was generally clean but furnishings old, stained and dated. Bath towels torn and faded and shower needed a good scrub. Replenishment of amenities was a bit hit and miss, as was the time at which the room was serviced each day. Arrival and departure were lack lustre.

Thai friendliness abundant at this resort. Helpful & friendly staff who really want you to have a great holiday. Rooms are large and well appointed- bathrooms are huge. Definitely book a breakfast included room package as the buffet breakfast is plentiful with lots of variety. Pool area is great as there is lots of lounges choices of pills or step down onto the sand for a beach experience. The hotel is located at the quiet end of the beach and is very clean.

My wife and I, along with our daughter and her husband stayed at the Novotel Samui Resort for eight nights in September 2019. We were extremely impressed with the accommodation, facilities and meals offered at this resort. The restaurant, bar and reservations staff were commendable and very approachable. We will recommend to our friends in Western Australia, that they seek out this resort when travelling to Koh Samui.

Food poison from the hotel

The hotel itself is ok, minor hygiene issues on the room but ok, but considering the food poisoning that happened twice from the hotel food I will say that will never stay on this hotel again. I arrived Koh Samui very tired and ordered lunch from the room service and my wife got very aggressive food poison (2 days for her to recover). On day 2 at night we ate on the restaurant in the hotel and I got food poisoning (another 2 days for me to recover). Basically our stay in this hotel killed the beginning of our holidays. Luckily after we move to another hotel we didn't had anymore problems with food and the second half of our holidays was great. The staffs in the hotel are great, the breakfast is good, the room is ok but the issues with the restaurant food show very big issues and can make a wonderful holidays become a nightmare.

We take this feedback very seriously, and we have already started our investigations as to what dishes you ordered, we had received no feedback from you at the time so we could have been able to assist you during your sickness and pin point the cause of your sickness. From our records the dishes you ordered had also been ordered several times by other guests with no feedback on sickness, that Chicken Phad Thai for room service is our top seller, the potential for you both to be sick and no one else in the hotel does lead us to believe it was a virus which can be picked up during travelling and not food poisoning, whilst that does not take away you didn't have a great holiday and left with a bad impression of our hotel. It was a pleasant and convenient stay. Although, the room service could be improved. There were used plates that were not removed from our room for days, additionally torn slippers were not replaced. Generally, things that are assumed to be replaced with room service were not unless directly asked to. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and the location and services of the hotel were amazing.

Enjoyed aside from one thing that needs to be addressed, the tiles surrounding the child’s pool are very slippery when wet both my grandchildren aged 2 and 3 slipped after getting out of the pool and running to our chairs, perhaps a sign would alert adults would be helpful, luckily no injuries sustained - I should have bought this up with Jon when he spoke to us at breakfast- although he did not introduce himself as the manager
