Mathieu at the restaurant was EXCELLENT ! Best staff member the hotel : very nice, helpful, fast and competent, polite and very pleasant.

The hotel is a bit dated, but it is in a good location, and the spa facilities are reasonable although they close a bit early (7pm) The car park is hard to get to and in, until you go to the hotel and find out, perhaps some instructions should be provided to the guests on booking.

« Excellent hotel and breakfast. »

A lovely hotel close to the thermal spa and ski lifts in Brides-Les-Bains. Despite having checked in online, we waited around ages to get keys, and then they went right through the whole check in process again. Room was a little small, but as we were only staying one night, perfectly adequate.

Nice hotel, staff really friendly and helpful and the meals we had were delicious. However... UHT cream should not be served with the tea tray, if you are unable to deliver fresh milk to the room (4* hotels in UK generally offer this) then UHT milk is only just acceptable, UHT cream is not. The only tea on offer was fruit tea or herbal tea, I had to ask (repeatedly) for English Breakfast. 4* service remembers the guest's requirements after the first request... and adjusts the service accordingly. If you have to go out and buy a box of Twinings English breakfast for room 424 then fine ... do it and stick it on the bill! The bathroom was clean but the finish on the tiling and plumbing was not acceptable. The bath tap assembly had clearly been replaced recently but it was not horizontal and the tiling underneath had been damaged and filled with grout. If my second engineer had pulled a stunt like that he would have been fired. You need to actually get in the bath when doing post maintenance inspections and look at what the guest will see. Try it and you will be surprised, this lack of attention to detail indicates poor leadership, the management team should be looking more closely at these details. The shower thermostat was also defective and on the last morning finally stopped working so it was impossible to control the temperature preventing me from having a shower as it was too hot. This is because the control knob had not been secured to the valve assembly properly. Again no one has checked the maintenance work - poor leadership. On the final day our room was not made up. The chambermaid was most apologetic and provided fresh towels immediately so thank you for that but clearly no one was checking her work - this is also poor leadership. This may seem fussy but this holiday was the first week away by ourselves for 14 years. It cost me a great deal of money and these little details really matter. 4* service requires attention to detail. I feel that this hotel was too focussed on the bottom line (I have never been to a hotel anywhere that charges the guests to use the swimming pool) rather than my 'customer experience' and that is why I did not leave a tip. This is symptomatic of poor leadership. The staff on the coalface were faultless and I thank them for their cheerful demeanour and efforts to make our stay as comfortable as possible. May I suggest that the senior management team spend more time walking through the hotel and helping their staff deliver faultless service rather than leaving them to their own devices? They are only human after all and little things can be missed which is why good leadership is essential to deliver faultless 4* service! Despite this may I thank you for a generally comfortable stay. Incidentally, you may also be interested to know that there was a constant smell of diesel exhaust in the lavatory. Also the WiFi landing page certificate was 15 days out of date which meant that my phone security software was very reluctant to let me use it.

Bad service at dinner. It took about 30 minutes to get the menu, 45 minutes to get the wine list, 1 hour to get the food and one hour and 15 minutes before drinks. Terrible service and the personnel missing good management.

Room spacious, very good breakfast. Good gym. Pleasant reception staff. Rather functional hotel with not huge amount atmosphere. Didn't like having to pay 12 euros to use spa and pool. Rather noisy at night by lifts and cleaners didn't come in every day or very late. Could provide little extras such as slippers, body lotion etc

« Disappointing. »

Upon arrival we were informed right away that children could not go to the pool in the afternoon, and only 1hr between 10 & 11am. No previous information at reservation... surprising! The hotel premises were cold. The restaurant was very cold, no heaters in the lobby/ restaurant toilets. Cold water only to wash hands. One of our room had very nasty smell of toilets- the problem was only sorted with a air spray. Please note that the staff was aware of the smell problem before giving us the room and did not inform us at any point! No apologies. Heaters were also an issue in the bedrooms as they were not functioning at all, and could only be switched on and off by the reception. Very impractical!

It was horrible...Way way overpriced...The hotel are in poor condition, the food and restaurant is very bad...There is no Fitness center...Just a room with running machine...The roof in the reception looks like its falling apart...The welness area is way to small for so many guests and the hotel charges seperate for this, parking and hotel lockers... And the worse part is that you try to charge extra when people check out by just putting Children charity on the bill....this is something you could expect from U-countries..and a perfect example on the greed that runs the hotel. All in all a very bad experience...We paid way to much...and we will warn other guests on this hotel.

Friendly staff that demonstrated attention to details and a helpful attitude. The food was of a good standard with a varied, if consistent, menu. Very much liked and appreciated the warm welcome of the reception employees , it was a comfortable stay . Staff in general try their best to please the guests . One recommendation : for the guests arriving by cars would please try to insert the BRAND HOTEL NAME OF MERCURE like that to avoid any confusion in finding the correct direction to the Hotel ! The SPA should be an asset to the hotel with a free access and more flexible hours of operation !

« Worst hotel I have ever stayed in . »

Room was dirty. Room service food was appalling. Some of the staff were rude, all of the staff were overworked and stressed. Our bill was 670 euros for 4 people 1 night with room service food which was inedible . I am a very regular business traveller but have never expierenced anything as bad as this before.I will never again stay at any Mercure or Accor group hotel.

The reception staff were excellent. Room was very clean, recently decorated and well presented. A slight complaint was that I booked a suite with two rooms, and one of the beds wasn't made up when we checked in. Having said that, it was remedied very quickly and efficiently.

The hotel is smart & clean. A good sized room with a balcony. Garage parking available. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is good, being central in the village. The restaurant did not have an extensive menu and the atmosphere was slightly lacking. The food was good and portions were generous.
