Just about okay

bangaloreguru Family - 01/09/2019 TripAdvisor review

The rooms are ill designed. The bathroom is terrible even by Ibis won standard. The check in and check out reception is professional. The breakfast is manageable. However the staff at breakfast did not serm professional. Hope I am wrong but got a feeling of not a very positive disposition towards an Indian well not that I care considering that hotel fortunately is not a monopolistic industry.

Dear bangaloreguru, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Ibis Styles Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide. I am very happy to read you found our reception staff on check in and check out professional however I am horrified to read the experience you had in our hotels Federal Restaurant during breakfast. On behalf of the hotel please accept my sincerest apologises. We as a hotel do not tolerate any employee discriminating any cultural background, we pride ourselves with the Accor Values with diversity in each and every Accor owned hotel worldwide. I would very much like to follow up your complaint, may I ask that you email me directly on rm2@mercuregrosvenorhotel.com.au with more information. I am truly sorry that this was your experience with our hotel, please know the appropriate actions will be taken. I look forward to hearing from you via email. Kindest regards, Courtney Assistant Front Office Manager

Cheap, but not even worth that

BWP64 Couples - 18/06/2019 TripAdvisor review

The rooms are tiny - not a problem for an overnighter. The noise (Sat night) was terrible until 4 am, then, not long after the light starts to stream in through the ensuite GLASS door. The overflow carparking was not correctly explained and ended up costing us $36 for overnight. The duty manager's unwillingness to do anything to rectify the problem was stupefying. *** Just because it's a budget hotel does not mean that you should not provide respectful service *** If it's true that you get what you pay for, then the Ibis Styles Adelaide Grosvenor is overpriced.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback i do apologise for your negative experience both with the car parking and the noise. If you could please provide more details regarding your stay; such as your room number and dates of stay this would allow me to do a deeper review of your feedback with my staff to avoid future occurences. Please contact me direct at rm1@mercuregrosvenorhotel.com.au Once again i value your feedback and look forward to being able to discuss this with you further. Warm Regards Todd Skuse Front Office Manager

Cheap night but bad location

Climber98878 Family - 16/06/2019 TripAdvisor review

We stayed here on a Saturday night. The rooms are pokey which was okay as it was just an overnight stay. Convenient for football at Adelaide Oval. Unfortunately too close to nightclub district and sleep was limited as the music was so loud and constant screaming of drunken people through the night. Positive that breakfast has a great range. Rooms are clean. Service is friendly. Got a cheap rate for the room so I guess u get what u pay for.

Dear Climber98878, We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Ibis Styles Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide. We are delighted to read that you had an excellent stay and especially enjoyed the buffet breakfast we offer in the Federal Restaurant, I look forward to sharing this review with our teams here at the hotel. I 100% agree with you on our location being excellent, very close to everything the Adelaide CBD has to offer when travelling to South Australia. Please accept my apologises about the noise from the nightclub behind us, I am saddened to say this is an issue we do have some nights. It is our hope that we have the chance to welcome you back in the near future. Kind regards, Courtney, Assistant Front Office Manager

small rooms but comfortable bed and clean. the air conditioner worked well, when the weather was very hot in adelaide during my stay. great central location, with easily accessible and convenient car parking. friendly service. the breakfast was very good. overall cheaper then most other city hotels, and good value for money. great for a short overnight stay.

Thank you so much for the recognition as our Ibis rooms are small and compact, while access to the rooms does involve stairs but it is always our intention to ensure our pricing points provide great value for money. Thank you also for your lovely comment about our breakfast which we provide in the Mercure section of the Hotel. Best regards Adrian Brown

Ibis Styles, not quite

John L Couples - 05/11/2018 TripAdvisor review

We spent 3 nights in the Ibis Styles in Adelaide, and as a Silver Accor member I was disappointed in the hotel. It is part of the Mercure and as such is stuck at the side of the building through a maze of corridors. Ibis Styles as a group pride themselves as being quirky and "stylishly different ". Their unique selling point is their attention to detail in decor, and breakfast being included. In Adelaide the decor consisted of painting the corridor in bright Ibis Styles green and sticking up a few pictures of lines. The bedroom was so small that the bed had to be squeezed in a corner under the window and one side against the wall. This meant of course that one person had to clamber over the other to get out of bed! The room was also in need of freshening up, as for example the blind had come adrift from its guides and had become pretty tatty. For some reason breakfast is not included here, perhaps it was because the dining room in the attached Mercure was very small. You could have had breakfast there at an additional cost of $20aud per person. However having said all that the staff were excellent and delivered a super service.

Dear John, I'm sorry I have not responded to your review earlier. Thank you for being an Accor Silver Member! Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at the Ibis Styles Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. Thank you for your feedback, and we hope to see you again soon so you can see the improvements we are making first hand. Sincerely, Courtney, Assistant Front Office Manager

Decent Hotel for the money

I’ve definitely stayed at better and I’ve stayed at worse. The room was a bit cozy but it was just me so I didn’t need that much room for just my stuff. Either the room was fairly quiet or the adjacent rooms were empty as I didn’t hear any noise from next door. The location of the hotel is great and it was competitively priced and within the amount my company would reimburse. I didn’t eat at the attached restaurant so I can’t comment on that but the flavored water in the lobby was tasty!

Is was too small hardly any room to stand as toilet seat is so close to wash basin

Room was freezing I am pretty sure the heating system was down but at least they gave me a fan heater, the bathroom was tiny, the room was in the furthest corner of the hotel and I had the treadmills in the gym in the opposite building staring directly into my room so I had to have the blinds pulled down the whole time so it was like staying in a cave. Blankets don't even have quite covers they are just wrapped in a sheet....?? Staff were lovely and the location perfect for the exhibition centre

Good value stay not too far out of the city.

An adequate motel, with helpful staff. Rooms are adequate, and of a reasonable standard. It's not a five star hotel, nor does it pretend to be. This is an excellent budget option if not needing to stay in the Adelaide CBD.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to our hotel in Adelaide we had been upgraded to a suite for our honeymoon. The stay made it most enjoyable while we were in Adelaide for the 4 nights. Would highly recommend this hotel

Great location, decor could do with a bit of an upgrade. Would be good if the Ibis section could have a hotel exit/entrance at that end of the property instead of walking all the way through the Mecure section

Linda-of-Coogee Friends getaway - 15/10/2017 TripAdvisor review

Upgraded room was lovely with all amenities and so forth in good condition. Room serviced well. Had drinks at the bar and staff seemed very friendly. Dinner with my friend was lovely and the young woman who served us was happy and so well organised. Nothing was too much trouble. Hotel is very well ocated for transport and shopping and lots of other attractions. Would definitely stay again!

Worst Ibis Style Hotel I have been to

phillip3810 Family - 03/10/2017 TripAdvisor review

Bathroom was terribly small. Staff didn't tell me about where breakfast was which I booked in advance. Room could have been smaller and bathroom larger. More like an Ibis Budget Hotel this one but cost over $200 per night so clearly expected more from this hotel.

Location great, back rooms noisy and average

Tania K Solo travel - 02/10/2017 TripAdvisor review

The hotel was in a great location, close to the CBD and Adelaide Oval. The hotel is split into two sections the Mercure and the Ibis Styles, I stayed in a Styles room which appeared to be down the rear end of the property. The room itself was a reasonable size, although I had booked a queen bed room for 3 nights but received a twin. The bathroom was tiny and the noise from the goods lift woke me early every morning and continued during the morning while I was in my room. There was not enough of a barrier to block out the outside noise as well.

Not for the elderly

C7091YScheryld Friends getaway - 11/09/2017 TripAdvisor review

When booking this hotel we were not aware the Ibis was the budget part of the hotel. When checking in we were given our room number and after walking up & down corridors came to 2 sets of stairs indicating our room was on the other side of the stairs! Two ladies both aged over 70 were expected to drag suitcases up & down stairs to reach their room. We ended up paying extra to get a room n the main part of the hotel. Will never book this hotel again.

I've Stayed in better ibises

TripAdvisor rating 2.5/5

Shane-Julie Solo travel - 22/06/2017 TripAdvisor review

this was probably the worst Ibis I've ever stayed in... the room was the smallest room I've ever stayed in anywhere.. the Queen bed was pushed hard up against one wall. The "table" next to one side of the bed (remember that the other side had none as it was up against the wall) was between the bed and the wall/door to the bathroom. It was so cramped that I had to open the sliding door to allow my elbows some room whilst I used by laptop which only just fitted on the table. When sitting on the toilet your feet ended up in the shower....in fact it was possible to use the shower toilet and basin all at the same time! On the plus side the room and linen were clean, but the room needed a coat of paint and some TLC. Breakfast was overpriced at $27, and was average except for the powered scrambled eggs which were ordinary (to be kind) Staff were great and friendly and looked after us.. I'll not be back.

JoVee Solo travel - 10/05/2017 TripAdvisor review

Stayed for one night first weekend of May 2017 as a solo traveller at leisure. The hotel has the same reception as Mercure. Check in staff was friendly but slightly aloof. I was allocated a room on the 4th floor which was at the back of the Mercure rooms. Happy I did not have a heavy luggage as you need to use stairs from the Mercure rooms to the Ibis rooms. My room was tiny with a double bed, tiny bathroom & toilet. Bed linen was nice & clean but carpet needs replacement as it is soiled and pockmarked. Checkout was okay & was able to leave my luggage in the morning and picked up late afternoon. Compared to other Ibis hotels in Australia and Singapore I have stayed in, the Ibis Styles in Adelaide is below standard.

Disappointed

kerric596 Business - 19/04/2017 TripAdvisor review

Not happy was expensive, and small, frosted bathroom door was not good, no privacy for son and mum sharing the room. Very long walk to get to that room, like a rabbit warren , thin walls as you could hear people in the next room

Helpful staff

TripAdvisor rating 2.5/5

mindy2016 Couples - 25/03/2017 TripAdvisor review

Very helpful staff in assisting my wife who had suffered a knee injury before arriving. Went the extra mile to provide a wheelchair to her. The queen bed was up against the corner of the room which made it difficult during the night to climb in or out of the bed. Fine if you want to climb over your partner at all hours of the night. Breakfast was good. Location is good but the room lets down on your experience

Wi Fi lacking

TripAdvisor rating 2.5/5

michaelwW2470OB Solo travel - 16/03/2017 TripAdvisor review

This was a very comfortable hotel and the food was excellent , however the WiFi did not work in the Ibis room. I could only access WiFi in the foyer which was not really convenient when it was supposed to be available in the room.
