« How do you know when you've had enough? »

Very good holiday at this resort. It wasn't relaxing as such because I had my grandchildren for the 2 weeks and they kept me very busy. The kids' Club everyday was just right for the little ones. They loved it. My Son and his wife used the Gym equipment, tennis and bouls. Excellent facilities.

The was a warm welcome at the airport arrival desk and a smooth 10min ride to resort, albeit the walk form the terminal to the coach parking area was rather hot. The C/I was smooth and friendly, an upgrade was provided to a specious and well-layed out suite. The resort benefits from great landscaped areas around the villas and pool area, and conveniently boosts a private beach. Both the buffet and sea-food restaurants offer a great choice of local specialities and international cuisine with very friendly and attentive service. The lobby bar could have been more spacious and attractive, as there is nowhere else to go for 4km in either direction, would also be great to have an Exc. lounge. Overall a great stay and happy to visit again.

« Great hotel with very polite service staff »

1. Shower pressure at the bathroom was an extreme disappointment. Sadly, the water pressure was extremely low, otherwise it would have been perfect. 2. The shuttle bus timing from the airport was very weird, with only a few trips to the hotel. Could have been better since the hotel is near the airport. 3. The last bus from downtown back to the hotel ended too early. 4. Gym could have been operated 24 hours by access cards. 5. Inbalance spa was also an extreme disappointment. 6. The views and service staff was outstanding.

I fell like there were double standard in servicing westerners and Asians. I stayed during Feb 26-28. We arrived the hotel around 1pm. We then walked to the checked in counter. The check-in staff didn't even greet us. She told us that check in time was 2pm and told us to come back to her at that time. As we waited, there was no welcome drink and towel provided and the weather was so hot. At 5-star beach resort, they should have provided the welcome drink without guests' request. At 2pm, no staff informed us that the room was ready. We went back to the same check-in staff. She simply handed us the key card and told us that your room is on the third floor. That's when I thought her service was too terrible. So I told her that she should have led us to the room. I also told her that we saw a few guests who traveled in the same flights as us can check in before 2pm. She just insisted that the check in time was 2pm. The discrimination continued at breakfast. There was an area called kid's menu. I saw several adults picked the food from this area. So, I came to the area to pick a potato salad. A Vietnamese staff told us not to get the food. (it was acceptable in some ways I guess.) At check-out, we were asked to pay for food that we didn't order. At the beach bar, they let guests write room number and name on the bills. I guess that's when the mistake came in. The wrong bill mentioned the correct room number but with the name 'Patrick'. But my name is 'Pattara'. I sometimes called myself Patrick when asked by foreigners. While I stayed here, I never called myself Patrick except when the concierge asked for my name when he wrote a tag for my luggage. However, the matter was settled. And I hope the mistake came from the guests not the hotel staff. Overall, the property was nice. The beach was clean. But the service let us down and make this hotel overpriced and overrated. Pattara

« Noisy morning »

We stayed in room #257, abt 6am in the morning, workers started to come, gathered at parking house and started to talk, to laugh, to fight like they are in the market... more than 10 of them make crazy noises early in the morning where people supposed to come to relax. it was so annoying morning but we tried to keep ourself calm not to complain. but then in break time at noon they back again and keep talking out loud. i went to reception and talk to one staff abt that before we went out for lunch. when we backed from lunch they still there and ofcouse non stop talking.that means our talking to staff was not considered(!?). this is the 3rd time we stayed in novotel phu quoc, the first 2 times we stayed in villa near the beach was nice but this time we were annoyed abit abt that. anyway thank you to upgrade us to very nice suite room for being a membership of accor hotels and we hope to be back oneday.

We swam, ate, ate , ate, then watched TV then wnet to sleep. We repeated the process over and over again. It was the most relaxing experience we have ever had. Fully recommended for most busy people to unload the worries and stresses.

We booked a villa to accommodate 2 adult and 2 children( 13&14 years old). At the time we booked there were 2 double beds but when we got to our room, there was 2 single beds and a single sofa. We rang the reception but no one can help us so we walked up and asked to speak to the manager. He seem to hide behind his staff and discussed the problems to themselves, after a while he offered to put a roller bed in. We were too tired so we agreed. we settled in and ordered room service & was told it wasn't available. We read the room service menu to check for available times and it said 6am to 12am, so we rang again & this time again we were told it wasn't available that we had to ring the restaurants to ask them. More unhappy moments..1/. the next day we rang for ice & waited 50mins & still no ice. We rang 3 times and was told they were was on the way. .2/ Booked 3 occasions for shuttle bus to Duong Dong & never got the times we requested, so we caught a taxi instead. Cost us about $400,000 VND return on many times. The bathroom plumbing was really bad so we had the sewage smell all the time. We reported it and the plumber came very promptly, however the smell was still there. Dispite all our problems we did make the most of our times by lying beside the pools and swam at the beach which were really nice.

We booked 2 nights at Novotel for business trip and really enjoyed our stay there thanks to an upgrade to suit room (thanks to Gold Accor member) which is facing straight to the beach. Hotel service is improved bit compared with our previous stay in last couple months. Food is still expensive and less choice compared with other hotels surrounding . I definitely come back to Novotel when i am in Phu Quoc

« Great staff, great location.. terribly constructed »

Novotel Phu Quoc has a great team giving it their all... Unfortunately they didnt double glaze the glass so there is zero soundproofing. It hasn't been open a yrar and there are signs of wear and tear everywhere.. the bar serve you with cracked glasses etc... no attention to detail.. while this is something one can easily overlook in teopical paradise.. it is not up to par for a 5 star resort. Only rooms worth booking are private pool villas!

« WORMS INSIDE THE ROOMS & BALCONIES »

It was really a perfect hotel except one thing upsets me too much If I was with my family ,we would never stay our period. I am really sorry for that but to find a lot of worms of approximate 1.00 to 2.00cm of length moving in the room as well a lot of them in the balcony It has been noticed to the front desk staff as well as the housekeeping staff. One of the front desk staff already collected three worms as a sample to take necessary actions to clean & spray the rooms before receiving the guests!!!!! Mainly to find as well the reasons &the sources to destroy them. Sorry for that, otherwise the hotel will be so perfect.

« Good F&B but Not trained Reception staff »

They gave me very dirty room, the room was not cleaned, I could not step on floor, no have amenity, nothing in monibar, I book the car to go to airport, they forgot, they just concentrate who got the book car to airport, My flight time cames up, they have no solution, only looking for who got the book. terrible their action. Very noisy music band in reception field, but F&B staff was very helpful and kind for us.
