Stayed in pullman miri several times and its always not dissapointing on overall. Breakfast was good. Comfortable bed. But the only comment that i have was the room that we were staying in is a non smoking room but immediately when entering the room, we can smell the scent of cigatrette. And another comment is that the water drainage in the showering area is clogged during our stay. I tried to check the reason why its clogged, its due to the drainage hole was blocked with mostly hairs and seems not been cleared for quite a while already (judging from the amount of hair trapped). Please do take actions on this.

« Not the best start but a great end to our holiday »

‘G’ day Simon, The first three nights at the Pullman Miri was rather disappointing with regards to the food at the Evening Cocktails. I was waiting to see if it would get any better on the second and third day but it did not and that was when I sent an e-mail to you and to Andy too after the cocktails on the 6th April. Thanks for looking into my feedback and making the improvements thereafter. Your team of chefs and service staff in the Executive Lounge and the Dining Room restaurant have achieved our Goal! We will be returning to Pullman Miri within a year or two. I am very pleased to have met Brian and would like to thank him for meeting me several times to listen to my feedback and preferences with regards to the food at the evening cocktails and to enhance our breakfast. I have been a loyal Accor member for more than five years and have stayed at many five stars Sofitel, Mgallery, Pullman and four stars Novotel and Mercure hotels in South East Asia plus Australia. Thus, I know from past experiences the expected minimum level of accommodation, services and quality of foods of a particular category of property that should be delivered based on their star rating. My wife and I travel to enjoy the local food, fruits, deserts and culture of the destination. We found that we could enjoy these at the Accor hotels that we stay and dine at, especially those with an Executive / Premier / Club Lounge that cater to the elite guests. Lounges normally provide higher quality services, foods and drinks combined with the ambience that would pamper the guests that uses it. I have stopped drinking alcohol and prefer not to have factory juices / sodas with lots of added sugars. Thus, our preferred drink is fresh squeeze orange fruit juice and/ or eating fresh cut fruits. Based on my experiences with other Accor hotels in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, Pullman Miri’s breakfast in the main restaurant has a good selection of local Malaysian dishes that we enjoy. Although sometimes due to our timing there were occasions when the nasi lemak, nasi kunning, fried noodles, fried chicken were a little too dry and or the rice too gluggy for me at the buffet breakfast. I enjoy eating warm, loose and fluffy rice and must thank Brian for making the special arrangements for us to enjoy our nasi lemak on two mornings after I brought it to his attention. Now to the cocktails that were served on the 11th April: *The plate of freshly sliced fruits to start the evening’s cocktails was refreshing which we did not expect but was certainly appreciated. *Sesame seed coated balls were just right with a nice crunch and the correct amount of sweetness to the red bean paste. *Rendang puff was delicious with a touch of spice. *Peanut kueh was okay but a little too sweet for us. *The bowl of garden salad was fresh. *The plating of the Char Kuay Teow was a unique delightful surprise as I have never seen it presented as a fine dining dish. My wife and I were delighted that the chef was going out of his way to make our food experience truly memorable on our last evening at the Lounge. This is one of my favourite foods and would like to compliment the chef who cooked it as it was simply delicious. Breakfast on the 12th April, the Egg Benedict was a welcome change and a joy to eat with the smoked salmon, the poached eggs were just right and the yoke oozed out as I sliced it. The highlight was the Hollandaise sauce, it had a very pleasant flavour and I could taste the freshness of it. I would like to borrow a phrase from the Australian TV series Master Chef and compliment the chef with these words “I score this dish 10 out of 10”. I never thought of ordering this dish as it was not on the menu at the Executive Lounge but it is a norm at a few other Accor five star hotels. Again, thanks Brian for suggesting and arranging this specially for us. I have eaten it at other Sofitel and Pullman hotels and they were reasonably good but sometimes the Hollandaise sauce can be a ‘hit and miss’ occasionally with a very strong pungent flavour or bland which spoils it. Again my wife and I would like to compliment the chef for making our last meal at your hotel truly excellent. I was surprised that the toast that held the eggs was not soggy ( it normally is, when I had it at other hotels ) and that shows that the chef was very thoughtful in his preparation. Thanks A Million Chef! Not forgetting the other teams in your hotel that played a part in making me want to return. I would like to thank Andy for upgrading my room and sorting out the issues related to it. Elizabeth and Annie for their assistance whenever I needed help on other matters that were quickly sorted out, the housekeeping for a clean, neat and tidy room and the concierge for being there on my arrival and ready to go on departure at the set time. However, my wife has one disappointment and that is she was not able to participate in the Sunday baking class which I understand has been suspended. She was really looking forward to learning how to create and have the recipe of Pullman Miri’s Mango yogurt cake that we enjoyed on our first stay. Any plans to restart the baking classes? I don’t want to dwell on the negatives of the past and prefer to look at the positives of the present and future. Based on the quality of the foods, fruits and deserts served during the second half of this stay I will definitely return to Pullman Miri for another holiday and look forward to enjoying the delightful cuisine and services once again. It has indeed been a memorable experience for my wife and I and she had taken many photos to share her friends which had resulted in many of them asking us for more details on Pullman Miri. Welcomed with a plate of fruit and cake as well as welcoming message. In-room dining experience was great. However, there was a shawl needle found on the floor in the toilet, which could be dangerous. Overall, it was okay.

Bed is okay but pillows are not nice. One pillow (soft one) is too big while the other pillow is very hard. Good to sit up, for back rest but not good for sleeping on. Need clothes/towel hooks in bathroom. On my first night, no hot water. Even at maximum and running the water for a while, the water was at best luke warm. Next morning, there was hot water but found water temperature very difficult to control. Not a good mixer

Found a small cockroach in the bathroom. Breakfast food especially pastries were mediocre. No more pain au croissant, lame mini donuts, less variety. More mini cakes rather than actually pastries & danishes. Cappucino from auto machine was so watery.

The room safe did not work. Seemed like no power. When contacted customer service they said maintenance would come to check but they never came. The mini fridgerator was not cold. I like to have cold room in the water.

« Nice, new hotel. Good location. Food needs improvement. Room not perfectly clean. »

We really like our week end getaways from Brunei to Miri. The Pullman is the newest hotel in town and is now our favourite place to stay. This time however the room was not as clean a usual. There were muddy shoe tracks on the bathroom floor.... odd for a new hotel. We had lounge access and I see that there has been a bit of furniture rearranging to take advantage of the spectacular views. The lounge however is still a bit sterile. Adding some plants would help I think. Also the lounge only had beer and wine. My wife said that the wine served was different than the last time and was not so good. The last time I was served scotch (which was nice). Please keep the bar well stocked and improve the quality of the wine.
