« So spoilt »

We chose to stay at to celebrate our wedding anniversary it was an outstanding stay in a Junior Suite. We were spoiling ourselves by indulging in an expensive hotel and in turn we felt very spoilt !!!

« Whilst the staff tried hard several services were not what I expect from a Sofitel »

On arrival staff were very attentive and professional, however despite being a hotel guest the Champagne Bar was closed for the evening and the small bar on the ground floor totally inadequate for the number of guests. When I went to make a booking at approximately 2pm I was told the restaurant was fully booked and we would have to find a alternative place for dinner. Having found an alternative place to dine for the evening we returned to the hotel for a couple of drinks. I had to leave my wife sat ending as there was no seating available, it was all fully utilised, when I ordered our drinks I was then told "I could not charge back to my room as the hotel systems were down and I would have to pay at the bar for any drinks" I'm sorry but this is not the experience I am used to and expect when I book and stay at any hotel, I happily pay the rate offered by the hotel but in return expect a standard and service commensurate with rate. Quite frankly I would have expected better had I been staying in one of Accor's lower priced hotels. I book a five star hotel because I want five star facilities to be available, and they clearly were not.

When i reach from airport i went to accors member counter but ur staff direct me to another counter.and clearly she might be a new staff,as ur system not allow me to book all the free room in once so i have to do seperate booking.i am requesting to be in a same room without any hassle to check out and check in again in a different room.she make me wait for more then 20minutes and unable to solve it until the superior come to assist.thisbis ridiculous!if is new staff u should be under guidance of senior staff.the worst is the next day my access card unable to use after my breakfast i have to go back down to counter to do it again!!!!what happen to ur hotel system?i have totally no issue on check in and check out in sofitel wenworth.

Overall the stay was wonderful except for the following. On arrival the fridge was not working although this was sorted very quickly by engineering but it took another 24hrs for drinks to get chilled properly. After making a coffee, we had the cups sitting on the round cabinet under the TV, as we swung the TV around to the bed an extensive amount of collected dust from the back of the TV and fittings fell into our coffee, this was not a small amount, it was genuinely extensive. Otherwise the room was beautiful!! My main disappointment was l chose the Sofitel for the Champagne Bar, as this was my wifes birthday and she is a huge Champagne lover, unfortunately the bar was closed on the Friday night until 2330hrs, we accepted that as we still had Saturday night to look forward to. We recieved a note advising us the bar would be open from 1730hrs, on arrival we were told that the function had not yet finished but we were ok to use the bar, unfortunately the people who were there had been for some time and it was very loud and uncomfortable. As a result while the experience we had was generally wonderful the let down of not being able to enjoy the Champagne bar for what would of been my wifes genuine enjoyment has tarnished the overall experience especially when we were advised in the morning what time the bar would open only to find that was not the case. I was disappointed for my wife, she still enjoyed her stay, as did l but the specific reason l chose the hotel was a huge let down and l couldn't return spending a substantial sum of money with the risk of being refused use of the facility bar.

Lovely hotel, staff were very friendly. I would like to make special mention of Cassandra and Zayn who worked in Club Millesime on the night we stayed. They were both wonderful hosts, nice to talk too and provided wonderful service. Zayn was also there the next morning and again he was cheerful, helpful and a wonderful host.

« Overall good but see comments below »

We understood we were booking a room fronting Darling Harbor, not one on the south western corner with very little water view. I mentioned this on checking out on 4 December and the duty Manager was to check with his superiors and come back to us to see if we could keep (rather than use) our free night with our Accor as compensation. As yet we have not heard back from Sofritel. They said they would come back within 2 days.

From start to end the staff went out of their way to help. Check in was quick and the valet parking was excellent, not to mention the delicious breakfast the next morning. We love staying at your luxurious hotel.

On arrival the booking system was down, but a concerted effort by all staff was made to remedy a technical glitch. From the free drinks in the lobby, to the free bottle of wine and strawberries was a nice gesture which was appreciated. Room was a step above most places I have stayed, the bed and linen was soft, bathroom well laid out, room sound proof and TV above average.

« Hotel had good recovery from a bad start. »

When I arrived the computer systems where down so I could not book in and spent the afternoon wandering Darling harbor. Fortunately the system was restored and I did not have to sleep under the bridge. Service was very good and the staff were professional and friendly and capable.

Overall very good experience, a few things, the cleaner did not remove room service plate when we were done. The pool deck service could have been better. At one point it was really windy and cushions etc were blowing around. Staff could have better managed this for guests.

« Disappointing experience »

The experience was fine, with the pool area a lovely spot (the reason I chose the hotel) but my experience was marred by the fact that without even enquiring to my title preference I was called Mrs B. three (3) times. Once in a reply email prior to check-in, once on the phone to guest services and on the tv screen - I can't remember what was used at checkout. I understand that Sofitel is an old-fashioned, probably conservative luxury brand - and may not normally be my hotel brand of choice - but in 2018 it is just wrong to call someone Mrs without knowing whether they are married and wish to be called by that. I am not married and I was at the hotel because I chose to be there and I also paid for it myself - it was a 50th birthday treat to myself. I have spoken to a number of my friends about it as I was quite insulted by it and they were all equally horrified.

Upon arrival, at 5.20pm, the concierge insisted they take our bags which was fine. Expecting the room to be ready by 3pm, we were greeted and told that the systems where down, manual procedures where in place and our room was not ready. Proceed to get 3 complimentary drinks. I went out to park the car, and returned to find that my partner had not been given the key to our room. The key arrived, and found that our bags were not in the room. I had to be ready for our dinner reservation at 6.30pm. Bags arrived in our room at 6.20pm. This was unacceptable considering our bags had been taken at 5.20pm. I was not able to check out the bar and facilities which I wanted to do, as I was waiting in my room for my bag. I expected this not to happen for our first stay at the new Sofitel. We are both disappointed with how events turned out that evening. I'd like to add that the staff were most helpful and polite, however communication was clearly missing as I was late to my dinner reservation due to not having our bags brought up until 6.20pm.

Everything thing was wonderful theonly thing I would change would be the pillows they were fare too soft to the point as soon as you lay on them they are almost flat however I know I could have calked and had different pillows delivered however I thought it was to late by the tine I remembered.
