Another great overnight stay at our favourite Reading hotel. It is always relaxing, the staff are friendly and it is superb value for money. Room 101 was the best yet!

Our room on the 1st floor was just above the main door for guests entering the lift and stairs to the bedrooms. Unfortunately, this door slammed all night. We didn't have much sleep. The door was probably being used all night by the guests coming and going to the party in the bedroom next door.

The hotel was clean and so was the room. Surrounding area not so nice. The bathroom in my room was below standard, with the toilet being broken (would not flush properly). Decor was tired and out dated.

The room was satisfactory - a bit tired and need for some further modernisation. For instance, there was only 2 plugs in the entire family room and no USB plugs. The reception staff were excellent and accommodated for all of our requests. We stayed at this hotel a few years ago when it was under different management. The reception area has been vastly improved. The rooms haven't changed at all. A little disappointed to have had to pay £5 a night extra for parking when there is very limited parking in the car park. This should have been better advertised a the point of booking (I booked over the phone). The pull out bed (sofa bed) was just about fine for our children but I would feel very sorry for the adult or older child that had to sleep on it - it was not very comfortable. For a family room, I would have expected a bit more furniture such as an arm chair. Overall, is was a satisfactory stay.

Severely let down with " full English " breakfast. Fruit juices were so watered down they tasted like water. Only the only thing that was good was the coffee. The waiter and waitress spoke next to no English and all they did was talk to each other.

The staff enjoy saying no it seems to any request, i understand its not the savoy but would be nice if they can at least try and accomodate some requests. Also a hidden parking charge.

« A rare night away totally spoilt »

On arriving at this hotel Saturday afternoon we were informed that there'd been a mix up as our booking was for Sunday! As we had travelled to attend a 60th birthday party I'm glad to say that the receptionist swopped the booking over without a drama. Our room was on the 1st floor, basic but exactly as depicted online and certainly all we required for a brief overnight stay. The bath was a pleasant surprise and the hot water plentiful. We returned from our night out around 01:00am and that's when the nightmare started. We heard several young lads return to the room next to us at around 01:25am and they were very noisy. We could hear all the conversation, including swearing, as well as music. I tried phoning the reception number on my booking form but no answer so my husband got dressed (2am by now) and went downstairs to complain. A member of staff did come and speak with the rowdy guests and threatened to call the police if they didn't quieten down. They did turn the music down but the shouting and talking remained just as loud and it was impossible to get any sleep. At around 3am I tried phoning reception again and this time a man answered. He was apologetic and came up again to speak with the room next to us. There were 5 men in the room 'having a party' and even smoking and the staff member told them only 2 could stay or he'd call the police. They tried to book another room and the negotiations on both sides continued for about 10 minutes. Eventually everything did quieten down but we were exhausted and my husband was furious by this time - so much for a treat night in an hotel! We arrived for breakfast just before 10am (available until 11am) and it was yet another poor experience. The hot drinks machine was being cleaned through and was out of action for 15 minutes, the orange juice tasted disgusting and we were informed that the concentrate must need refilling. There were no croissants or muffins available (other guests had them) but on asking we were told only mini pain au chocolat were left. The bacon had also run out and we were informed we'd have to wait for 20 minutes for more. When we checked out we spoke to the duty manager who was aware of the problems during the night and apologised. Apparently they had CCTV of what went on and the police had arrested them. We explained how dissatisfied we were and eventually were given the recompense we requested, so at least this was handled ok in the end, but our night away had been ruined. People could come and go as they pleased in this hotel and we never saw any staff member / security check they were guests by asking to see room keys. The same at breakfast, it would be very easy to come in off the street and eat unchallenged. We've learnt our lesson and will never stay in this budget type of hotel again. Cheap is not necessarily a good deal.

I stayed at the hotel on 2 acasion from the 15/01/2018 to 19/01/18 and hen from 22/01/18 to 26/01/18 And on both times I was woken through the night with people talked very loud in the rooms and corridors Which is not very good when you have work comments and meetings to attend when getting woken at 2 and 3 in the morning very disappointed with my stays

« Terrible water pressure, plus checked into the wrong room. »

I stayed in room 301, however was checked into 311 which already had a guest in when I arrived. Easy mistake, but i presume the person in the room was more shocked than me. The room itself was nice and clean, decor and style/theme was very nice and the bed very comfortable. What really let the room down was the water pressure, fine jets in the sink which cause the water spare out of the sink when you turn the tap on and the shower pressure at what I would assume to be peak time (breakfast time) was very very low. It only improved if you made the temp scorching hot!

My room 103 was clean and well presented and the staff were polite and efficient. However I found the evening food disappointing. I had the fish and chips which was obviously a bake in the oven fish from Lidl or similar and the fries were very basic oven fries. Would I stay there again ? Possibly would I eat there again ? No. Overall though acceptable for a business overnight stay.

« In the past is good but this time made very disappointed »

I could not sleep on 7 Jan night time as your hotel bar was very nousy. There were 4 guys who having beet and chatting very loudly. From 22.00 till 00.20 which was nearly 2 hours. I came down to speak to your staff but they said they could not closed the bar and they were customers in this hotel. I do not know how your hotel provide training to your staff. Do you think this is a proper answer and attitude to deal with this issue? I did not sleep that night even your staff gave me another room after I STRONGLY COMPLAINT as I need to work at 3am in the morning. I paid for the room.but I was unable to sleep and also very unhappy to your staff attitude.
