Arrived after long journey and gave my full name and handed the passports reception staff member then asked if I would like to pay for the room now. I said yes and was charged 288 CHF . I got to the room and checked by booking and found that I had already prepaid and in fact I had been mixed up at reception with another customer and had paid their bill! Then had to get a credit to my card. Corridor was very hot and made the room very hot even at lowest temperature. Corridor could have been easily ventilated by hotel. Breakfast was good.

This hotel is new and modern, walking distance from the Station, pretty rooms good breakfast, kind hotel staff. Only issue is that you cannot open the window (modern building conception).

On the whole we liked our stay at Ibis Styles in Basel and it's location. I would have given a higher score, however one problem tainted our stay, and that was our room was not cleaned once during our 3 night stay, despite putting a 'clean my room' notice on the door each day. I reported this problem twice to separate members of staff and remarkably they both responded in the same (unhelpful) way. When I mentioned that our room hadn't been cleaned, I was greeted with (receptionist) "did you have anything on the door hiding the sign, as the staff are working quick time and can only clean rooms that are ready to be cleaned"... (me) "nothing blocking the door, just the room sign"... (receptionist) "you must have put it the wrong way around with 'do not disturb'... (me) No, I have put the 'clean my room sign' out on our door handle every day we have stayed here"... After which the receptionist apologises and walks away. No offer of cleaning the room as soon as possible, or clearing our bins, replacing towels, toilet roll. I was baffled by the unhelpful response. The next morning I report this to a separate member of staff/receptionist and they react in exactly the same way. In which they try and make out that I blocked the room sign/had it the wrong way around, and then they apologised and again... walked away. With no offer of help or rectifying the problem. So in the end, we decided not to report the problem again, but continued to ask for our room to be cleaned (via the door handle sign) and continued to be disappointed when our room was not cleaned/restocked. We even bought our own toilet roll! I would like to be compensated for this inconvenience.

rooms were clean and staff at front desk was very friendly and courteous. The breakfast was Ok for a person who does not eat meat. there were several options but one suggestion - make the scrambled eggs without bacon. It opens up the option for people who do not eat meat.

I book two nights, that I could cancel, then added a third with a no cancellation policy, unfortunately our days got moved beyond my control and I only stayed 2 nights, I advised in advance however I was not give any credit for the “no cancellation night”. Being a loyal platinum member for a long time I was hopping for more flexibility

It was just not for us. Too much style, not enough substance. Since when does one need to swipe a card against a blue light on a black wall to get the lift to work? Why is every door security checked with no access via stairs? Compared to the many other Ibis Styles and Mercure hotels we stay at, this is not really a hotel.

I have visited a lots of IBIS hotels around the world. Definitely this one was the best with standard that exceeded other 4-star hotels. Extremely good, brand new paintings and decoration inside. The staff was polite and efficient. Unfortunately our flight was early so we left before breakfast and could not try it. Really shocked by the high standard and outlook of the hotel. The location was convenient - 15 min walk or 2 tram stops from the main railway station. I would definitely chose it again for my future visits in the city.
