« Love the location, gardens and the pool, but some other aspects were very poor »

I booked through Accor and was told check in and out was at 12 midday. The staff at Cooinda didn't seem to know about this at all and locked our rooms on us in the morning while we were in the pool, it also made check in problematic as they said we were too early. Our rooms were clean but outside on the patio, there seemed to be some smears that closely resembled blood on some metal bars, which was pretty unpleasant. We were really disappointed that nothing was being done about an infestation of cane toads - you should hire staff to humanely catch and dispose of these pests in the evening and overnight. The restaurant was very expensive and so were drinks - realise you are a long way from anywhere but some more options would be good. The pool was lovely however and bed really comfy and appreciated the aircon in the room.

« Fantastic - Everything we needed and more! »

Fantastic. Upon arrival, staff were very accommodating, letting us move to a bigger campsite further away from toilet block. Facilities were fantastic - great pool and restaurant (especially loved the picnic lunch-boxes you can order from the restaurant, complete with cooler-bags!). On-site booking desk for activities was very handy. Showers/toilets/laundy facilities were all clean and working well. Very happy to recommend.

Great stay at Cooinda Lodge. Staff were great and the food very good. Big shout out to the Chef who happily made a change to my meal to accommodate my dietary needs. Merci!

« Good accommodation inside Kakadu »

After a day long activity in the heat of Kakadu, the lodge was a welcome relief to unwind for the night. The room was air conditioned which I must admit struggled to keep cool in the heat of Kakadu, the bathroom a bit constrained on space but my biggest gripe was the restaurant which was virtually empty bar one private function involving 10 people at best - with no signs that there was a private function on etc. Checking in / out were all handled efficiently.

The hotel is shaped like a Salt Water Crocodile, from the air it is amazing to view and the art gallery that they have inside the hotel showcases some of the beautiful artworks of the local Bininj.

« Very enjoyable stay »

We had a wonderful stay in a Superior room for 2 nights. We were pleasantly surprised by the standard of accommodation, the room was modern, clean and very comfortable. My only concern was the lack of a pathway from the carpark to somewhere near to our room. It was not easy to drag our luggage across the grass.

« Excellent, wished we could have stayed longer »

Very enjoyable, room was excellent, all facilities clean, staff from all areas of the hotel were friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff were great with our kids, and the chef even gave them an ice block, which made their day! If you were not booked out we would have stayed longer, and will definitely be back!

« Great stay. Pleasantly surprised. »

The venue caters for all including accommodation, activities and restaurant. We stayed one night to join the yellow river sunrise cruise. So picturesque - great experience. Cooinda then provided a well catered buffet breakfast upon our return. It’s a great spot to use as base to explore the amazing areas of Kakadu.

« Inadequate family room, should have stayed more nights at Anbinik Jabiru instead »

We checked into your "family" room and were appalled because it was like checking into a hotel room suited to a businessman visiting Melbourne or Sydney. Nothing that a family requires visiting Kakadu... however, for a business traveller it was great... iron & ironing board, two wine glasses, a huge wardrobe to hang one's suits geeez Louise. I'd suggest your local manager visit Anbinik Jabiru and stay in a family room there.... a separate freezer that actually froze our ice packs, cutlery, plates, pots & pans, stove top, microwave, toaster, separate bedroom for the kids. At Cooinda there were no pots and pans in the communal kitchen; the communal BBQ ran out of gas our first night near the swimming pool... it wasn't replaced in the time we were there... resulting in queues our next two nights. The night manager was informed but nothing changed.

« An excellent place to stay »

Having travelled from U.K., we were visiting Kakadu for the first time in a camper van. The facilities (from showers, laundries, pools to the restaurant) were all excellent. The staff were all helpful, especially when my wife managed to grate her leg tripping down a step.

« Unnecessarily crowded »

When we called to book I mentioned that we were a “big rig” and expected to be place in a big rig site, this was not done and we were squeezed into 58. On our return from the pool we were surrounded with camper vans, now if you were busy I could understand that, but the big rig area behind us was practically empty. My wife did go to the office and complain and we were offered site 76, but to move after shoehorning ourselves into a small site then un hooking for the next days activities we decided against moving, but the fact is we gave the girl who answered the phone all the details and she seemed to disregard the facts and to our dismay placed us an unsuitable site.

« Great place with friendly staff »

Two nights on a powered site, grass, shade, 2 swimming pools and helpful staff. The receptionist changed our site to one she thought was better when we booked in as the park wasn’t very busy, thanks for thinking of that. Nice shady pool for when weather was very hot.

« Great campsite in Kakadu. »

We stayed on a powered site. The facilities were good - clean bathrooms, great camp kitchen. The kids really enjoyed the pool. It was great to be able to stay somewhere so conveniently located.

« A good experience and enjoyed by the whole family »

Enjoyable, very laid-back, grounds are kept clean, room is small but tidy, staff always friendly. Can’t complain, enjoy the yellow river cruise.

« Perfect stay, love the entire surroundings and quality of the Cooinda lodge »

We had a lovely stay, so much so we extended our stay. We have recommended Cooinda to all family and friends. We only had one issue and that was double billing on our night(s) stay. Initially reimbursed for the first mistake with no issues. However, when the incident happened a second time with being charged twice for 1 nights accommodation. It took several weeks to have the matter resolved. It's still in process in actual fact.

« Comfortable hotel, nice food options, but a few small details detract from the experience. »

We enjoyed our stay at Cooinda Lodge, though a few small things stood out. The lack of wifi was particularly inconvenient. As international travelers with no local cell service, we relied on wifi to communicate with family and friends at each of our stops. The directory in the room claims wifi was not available because of the remote location, but then we discovered that some of the staff had wifi in their own accommodations. Also, large gaps around the shower door made it impossible to take a shower without soaking the entire bathroom floor (including the mat). This was a small inconvenience, but one that stood out to us. The hours of the amenities also seemed to be inconvenient for those arriving in the evening after a long drive from Darwin airport. We flew into Darwin, picked up our rental car and barely made it by 7pm. Getting settled in it was a rush to have dinner and a swim in the pool before the restaurant and pool closed for the evening. We actually received conflicting information on closing times from different staff for both the pool and restaurant - though I think it was 8:30pm for the restaurant and 9:30pm for the pool. Both time seem too early for a location accommodating travelers who may have been traveling all day. Overall, we did enjoy the location and all of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The above concerns permitting, I would recommend Cooinda Lodge to any friends traveling to Kakadu. It was a memorable experience.

« Great hotel »

We found this hotel to be a very pleasant surprise. Our room was newly refurbished and very comfortable. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers and even with the addition of a rollaway bed the room space was workable. There was an outdoor seating area with table and chairs which was a bonus. There are two pools which we made use of as the temperature hit 38 degrees! The outdoor restaurant/bar is well organised and there is a reasonable selection of food - burgers, pizza, mains and snacks. It was busy for dinner but the meals came out pretty quickly and our pizzas were delicious. There is an on-site convenience store and petrol. Staff are friendly and helpful - recommended
