The staff are accommodating and very friendly. The pool is clean and warm, but maybe make it a bit cold during wet season as it was too hot when stayed in the lodge and a nice colder water in the pool will be better. I also suggest to: - have a microwave in the room - a mosquitoe/bugs zapper around the bbq pit and pool will make it better. - more towels in the family rooms, as usually 4 people will stay in the family room. We requested to have extra towel and the lady told us that she will send someone to give us 2 more towels, but it didn't overall we love the place and the front desk and gift shop staff are amazing

« New rooms were a nice surprise, management organisation needs improvement »

We really enjoyed the new fresh look rooms! They were clean, bright and the beds were really comfortable - a big change from our previous stay in the old rooms. Front of house needs much better organisation! Both my family and my cousin requested to be in a room sharing a balcony. I visited 2 months prior and this was confirmed. I called to double check this again 2 weeks prior, yet on check in they had separated us which was not suitable due to us having young children. They did end up fixing this and gave us drink vouchers to say sorry for the inconvenience, which was appreciated. However my room key didn't work, then my cousin's room didn't have a trundle bed in it. Sure enough, this too was fixed. Upon going in I noticed we only had 3 beach and 3 room towels. This was understandable as our rooms had been changed so I went to the office and asked for an extra towel of each as we are a family of 4. The man tried to give me foot towels as a replacement which obviously wouldn't work. He said he'd follow up but he didn't think they had enough towels to be able to give us one!?! Of course, nothing happened there but in the morning I saw the lovely housekeeping staff who were more than helpful! In fact, all of the housekeeping staff were wonderful throughout our stay! On Saturday, we came back around 6pm from fishing and found we were locked out of our rooms again. Again the office fixed this but it was an inconvenience. Overall, the new rooms are great. If the front of house can organise themselves, then it will be a wonderful place to stay. We will be back as we are regulars. Let's hope that next time it's a bit more of a smooth trip.

« Great wet season base »

The staff were friendly and the room was neat, tidy and fairly modern. The only thing we'd mention is that whilst sitting on the patio in the pouring rain, the gutter overflows onto the patio, making it impossible to sit out there. We held it up slightly which stopped the overflow so it may just need tightening. I'd also recommend requesting a room with a shelter over the patio as not all have it. Some sort of floor mat would be handy to wipe your feet on in the wet season also. There was also a lack of parking for boats if you wanted to be able to see it from your room.

I travelled self-drive with my 78yr old father and 11yr old daughter to Kakadu for 2 nights in the middle of wet season in January which could have been a soggy disappointment, but thanks to you it was a very successful holiday. We loved the central location of Cooinda for access to Kakadu attractions and yellow-water cruise, excellent service from very friendly helpful staff, best food in our whole NT holiday, spacious cool lodge rooms and very well designed bathrooms, amazing pool, well stocked shop. Overall luxury experience that also felt local and ethical. I would highly recommend Cooinda lodge to anyone doing a top end holiday.

« Exceptional accommodation in remote NT »

The renovated accommodation was spectacular - I stayed in an unrenovated room 14 months prior. Although the 'kitchen counter' tops are funky in their design with holes, items can easily slip through .. and into the waste. Also, it turns out that waste removed from rooms can make its way to the tip within hours. Sadly, within the first 16 hours of checking in our keys were 'stolen'. Very possibly, they had fallen through into the waste that house keeping removed, and which went promptly to the tip. Besides the dramas that this caused, the stay was pleasant, thanks. We had a Queen bed plus a single, the single bed we pushed against the wall and set up as a 'lounge', making it so much better than just a room with a queen bed. Thanks, and I look forward to coming again .. hopefully with a hook/drawer for keys, or else no holes in the counter tops .

The stay itself was fine - the boooking procedure was a nightmare. I booked in September and get there for New Years and they have no room booked under my name - 22 emails proof says that I did - was not impressed.

Please accept our apologies that you found the booking process a nightmare, I can see that you made the booking via email in September and added an extra room also in September and then amended your dates in November, as I have booking confirmation's for your three rooms from September I am a little confused as to how there was no room under your name when you arrived, perhaps an oversight from staff member checking you in, not ideal but we are all human and as such mistakes do happen. It is disappointing that this went on to negatively impact your stay. If you would like to discuss your experience further please don't hesitate to contact me. « Cooinda has great potential but needs upgrading »

All staff were fantastic - reception, cleaning, restaurant. In Wet Season needs mats so don't tramp water and mud into room. Drainage around entry door needs work. Needs cloth for wiping bench after making coffee. One side of our bed had big outward slope, mattress obviously wrecked.

Our stay was pleasant. check in took awhile even though we were 1 of 2 people checking in. One of our party had an issue with their room key after dinner. (the batteries had gone flat). Staff did attend & were friendly. Our room was clean, the sliding door to the verandah was broken & took a bit of jiggling to be able to lock.
