Awesome lodge in a fantastic location

TripAdvisor rating 3.5/5

FamHoliday4 Family - 11/07/2019 TripAdvisor review

Our family loved Cooinda Lodge & would recommend it over staying in Jabiru. Our room included a Queen Bed & 2 Single Beds (1 was a portable bed). The room was a suitable size, not huge, but more then enough for 4 people and 3 suitcases. It looked to be recently renovated, the bathroom was very modern. Highly recommend the restaurant for breakfast & dinner, and the Fish & Chip van (my daughter had the squid & salad 3 nights in a row). Recommend you pre-book the Yellow Water Cruise & do both the sunset & sunrise combo (in that order). Also, pre boom 4WD tours (if you don’t have a 4WD).

Very enjoyable

Outdoor areas are fantastic as was food, especially breakfast after morning cruise. Staff looked good, worked hard and were very friendly. Loved Michelle's humour. Amenities we're great but floor was appalling because of NO MOPS to wipe floor after shower. This needs action!

Brilliant

They looked after us so well when we had a delay in dinner one night and gave us a huge dessert board complimentary!! Cruises on the yellow water were fantastic.

Very good facilities

Mostly good but very noisy early in the mornings with lots of campers packing up or going out for the day. Bistro and bar a little confusing with cash only outlets not easing quest at peak times. perhaps a snack or separate lunch menu with a couple of budget items.

The winner was the sunset cruise, not the Hotel .

The hotel - the staff, while most appeared to be back packers, there was an air of unprofessional service . Checkin - we arranged transfer from yellow water airport, non turned up so we walked in. New tent accommodation- nice design. You need to look at following. Steps up to deck need railing, very steep. Need baggage stand, cloth hanging rack and provision for wet towels in rooms. Some arrangement for being able to have a tea/coffee in the room ( know you give out 1 voucher) if you had a normal room your able to have as many drinks as you want. That needs to be addresses some how. People like to have a coffee/tea in their rooms . Seating - Family of 4, beside us, only 2 hotel outside chairs. Had to use their own chairs from car, for extra setting. Great grass is being watered, not good walking on muddy wet path. Bathroom facilities, very old while you have given them a lick of paint and replaced fixtures, still is tired. Meals area. Staff were not cleaning tables quickly, setting was at maximum, not a pleasant presentation for Guests who wanted to enjoy a meal. It was more like Coles cafeteria than Accor hotels. To be truthful the main food area looked dirty. I was in the travel industry for 40 years and have done hundreds of hotel inspections, l realise your have big numbers going through, but these small points are general house keeping

Great new safari tents with clean amenities, central to all great activities on offer.

Excellent

Resort needs considerable upgrade

Caravan park management team on the ground were fantastic, could not fault their willingness to assist. However, caravan park facilities, bistro area etc. need a very good refresh/upgrade. Also, internet access was very poor.

Our experience was satisfactory in the park but brilliant with the Yellow waters cruise and the Barra and chips!

We were in our caravan at the camping area. It was fine, a busy time for the park. It’s really just a spot to park your van and explore Kakadu.

Very comfortable camping, lovely grounds and close to beautiful places

Joanne Families - 10/07/2019 AccorHotels certified review

The camping areas were good, if a little confusing about where to park cars. The toilet/shower facilities were nice and new, but the showers became filthy after a short time, due to wet feet and red dirt on shoes. It's a pity because it looks terrible to foreign visitors especially. A mop and bucket so that users could mop out the shower before or after use would help a lot. We saw this in almost every WA campground we stayed in last year on a 4 month trip. The food in the restaurant was great, and the service very fast in spite of a crowd. Will definitely recommend you.

Busy and crowded campsite but that's high season

We stayed in the campground during peak season so was very busy with little space between sites. Early mornings were noisy as many people have to be up well before dawn for yellow water cruises but the evenings were fairly quiet. The facilities were excellent and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Would be happy to stay here again.

Perfect location to stay and explore Kakadu

Denise Couples - 09/07/2019 AccorHotels certified review

We were extremely happy with the location and facilities at Cooinda. Our lodge room had one of the best beds we’ve ever slept in. The room was spotless, spacious. The bathroom was modern with good quality toiletries provided. Communication with the resort prior to staying was very good. Breakfast with the cruise was plentiful and very good. We enjoyed our visit to the cultural center. A great range of gifts available. We absolutely loved the Yellow water cruises we did and visited the area several times at different times of the day and always found something new and interesting. The only negative was the Barra Restaurant-the food on offer was really too fancy! The Caesar salad in particular left a lot to be desired. Why couldn’t a normal Caesar be offered? With perhaps a side of chicken? We would have loved a roast or sausages or chicken parmigiana -more normal pub food. The service of the food was very good. The fish and chips at the food van were very oily.

Clean, comfortable, friendly and efficient service, very good food

Cooinda Lodge was clean and comfortable, with friendly and efficient service. It was a little crowded with 2 adults and 2 children in the room but we were grateful that we could be accommodated in the one family room and we did not spend much time in the room, so it was perfectly fine. The meals at the restaurant were excellent. Only complaint is that we would prefer not to have to line up for drinks and meal orders.

Crammed in beside another caravan like sardines. Very difficult to back in due to the angle, trees etc. Poor acceas. Had to do incrediby tight U-turn around trees to create access angle.

The accommodation was in keeping with the cost so we were happy about that. I think you could probably improve on the food choices there. Only one restaurant. Evening meals weren't an issue, but the buffet breakfast was not that great for the cost. Also, you need tomake sure the coffee cart is opened early, infact a couple of mornings it didn't even open!

Let go

The maintenance let the place go. Most outside lights didn’t work making it unnecessary dark. Only one toilet block worked day one then only one shower the next. You couldn’t turn the water on in one. Couldn’t turn the water off in s other and the third one had no tap fittings. I reported it to staff but they didn’t care at all and just walked off on me. The taps at most sites were no where near where you parked your van either.

clean, comfortable, well organised!

Grassy, shady site a bit far from amenities but easy walk to resort. Happy hour great at end of day. Food outstanding and not too expensive for location. Helpful staff. Best base for travelling to many Kakadu falls, rock art and cruises. Will be back next time in NT no hesitation.

Clean, cool and comfortable. Will definitely recommend to others.

The room was lovely, clean and cool as we walked in. Loved the little extras like the hot chocolate along with tea and coffee. Was a little expensive as it was the high season but had no choice with timing. Restaurant and supply shop great.
