Damp Hotel - Please Refund

As you can see I am Silver Accor and I have never complained previously about a hotel I demand a refund for my stay at this hotel. I was originally offered Room 564 which had mould on the walls and ceiling and smelt very strongly of damp the whole time. The dampness was also visible on the fridge door which had heavy condensation on the outside to the extent there was a pool of water underneath. The hotel staff moved my to room 580. Which had exactly the same problems. When I asked for another room, I was told the damp problem was an issue throughout the hotel and another room would not improve the situation. As such I spent 4 nights in a damp hotel which caused some breathing and sore throat problems. This spoiled my limited time in RIo. I suspect the hotel is a health hazard. I have no complaints regarding the hotel staff. I have photos of mould and condensation if you require. I have not reviewed the hotel online and do not, at the moment, intend to share my thoughts on social media. COuld you please refund the total amount. Andy Accor 30…2024

Two issues about the room: the pillows were too hard. I would appreciate a softer one. Second issue, the refrigerator light was really annoying. I have to cover it with a towel to sleep.

cleanliness, excess humidity, deterioration in the facilities of the rooms and maintenance in general is very bad.

The room was full of humidity and bugs, I had to wait two days until they cleaned the floor and took the trash that was in the tank. in general, the odor was very strong to humidity and also could not regulate the temperature of the room because this caused condensation on the roof. the bedding was also dirty and wet, there were no extra sheets either. in general a very bad experience

In mi initial room there was a problem with the air condition system and lots of humidity. Then they change me to another room but It was basically the same, I needed up having a flu because of this. Not staying here again...

Overall our experience was positive, the hotel is clean and modern. Breakfast was great, the food offered was absolutely delightful! However, at our arrival we were not welcomed very well. First of all we had booked what we though was a suite and it turned out to be just a regular small room with a tiny couch. Then we were told that the room could accommodate only two people, and we were three, thus our preference for a suite. The receptionist was extremely unfriendly and told us that it was a law in Rio not to have more than two people in a hotel room ( we later found out this is simply untrue! ) . We had to find a room for our third party and this was very inconvenient after a 10 hours flight! Over several days, only one person at the reception was fluent in English and was able to give us some tourist information about transportation and sight to visit. We have traveled a lot in our life, and most hotel personnel at the front desk have basic knowledge of the tourist attractions and are normally happy to help. Lastly, our room had a very high level of humidity. Unless we kept the air conditioning at a freezing temperature all the time, the room was getting so humid that even the floor was completely wet!

Very helpful staff at the check in. Supportive in every kind of request from printing tickets to finding Champions League games on TV in bar. Mr. Sunset (very big security man) was very friendly and when we saw him we felt extremely safe. Breakfast was very good. Wifi was working perfectly. Room was big and cleaned every day. Only view from our side was quite poor on other block but we were so tired everyday that it was not very important. Close to Botafogo Praia Shopping Center and to metro station Botafogo. Copacabana/Corcovado/Pao De Acucar were in walking distance of 2,5-3,5 km.

Spectacular view from the rooms at the front - with 16 lanes of traffic double glazing would have been a good idea ! Location in Botafogo suited us well. Not the most successful of interior designs for a Novotel though. Seem to have condensation or leak problems in at least some rooms. Also has a wonderful view of the toilets just as you enter the restaurant - closing door would help this.
