Experience was ok. The room was always clean. Shower temperature was not constant, changing from burning hot to cold at times. Snacks and drinks unreasonably overpriced. Lost&found service was excellent.

Room 379 sofa bed very dirty and covered in stains, room cleaning service not good and leaking fittings in the wet areas. Corridor outside the room carpet also very dirty and stained.

« So-so, not impressed »

Location - good. Room cleanliness - impressed at the start but noticed room is not vacuum and dust off. Dirt on the floor stays at the same spot till I checked out. Breakfast - so so, can be better with better varieties. Restaurant (dinner) - not impressed as it starts 7 PM. should instead start from 5:30 PM. Lift / elevator - not impressed. Very small & slow respond. Value for money - maybe yes. Mini bar - ok, but at least provide 2 mineral bottles daily as compliment. Front desk personnel - very good.

The meeting room we used, the Dona Marta room, is very large, with more than sufficient space to accommodate 25 people. The location of the hotel is good. The catering service we contracted was good. The staff is friendly and attentive and very helpful.

Initially I was very disappointed with a room whose windows faced nothing but the wall of the neighbouring building. Had I been unable to change rooms the very next day, I would have left the hotel. Staff and service was exemplary, especially at the front desk. I was disappointed that the gym facilities had no water available and no towels and that the sauna facility was not available in the mornings. The breakfast service was just adequate. Very impressed with the services in the foyer.

The hotel was fine, nothing great, just okay Staff was very friendly. My husband was traveling with me. The room was booked by my company for one vs. two. I am not sure why there is a charge for two people is one room. The Bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was good The rooms are very small and the view is horrible. I felt like i was being watched by the neighbours all night. There are not wash cloths available, which is very odd. If you are an international hotel, this is something you should have. The room also was not stocked well. no shampoo or conditioner and only one small bar of soap. Overall, not very business or traveller friendly. Finally, check out took almost 30 minutes. There were only two front desk staff, and line of guest trying to check out.

Hotel front desk staff lacks customer service skills. They seem bored, unmotivated and not willing to provide a good experience for the guests. It really undermines the image of the hotel overall.

There is a lot to improve in management. The cards that give access to the rooms stop working easily and that bothers guests a lot. But overall staff was friendly.

I liked the modern interior and exterior of the hotel. The possibility to open the blind before the shower glass wall "opens up" the bathroom and bedroom. The chase lounge provided a perfect place to sit and read. The cleaning, restaurant, security and reception staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet offered many choices. I particularly liked the cooked porridge of the day. It goes without saying that the location of the hotel is the star attraction - the view across the bay on Sugarloaf Mountain and within less than 5 minutes walk to the metro stop.

« I felt safe, really appreciate the staff friendliness and the clean room. »

Prompt response: The air conditioning in my room was broken and I maintenance team arrive to investigate it within 5 minutes of reporting to the front desk. I got transferred to a different room immediately when the issue cannot be resolved. Politeness: The front desk receptionist was very polite and apologized for the situation.

Novotel Praia de Botafogo is a nice hotel. It does have a good localization in Rio de Janeiro. But there are a few drawbacks: shower is bipolar - extremely hot or extremely cold. And although you have nice Panasonic flat screens, there's no HD channels.

Unfortunately, the gym did not have any towels. Since there is no phone, calling the hotel staff is impossible. There is an alcohol gel dispenser, but it was empty last week when I stayed and it continued to be empty. It really looks bad. It appears that there are no established routines for daily inspection of the gym.

I had a reasonable stayed in Novotel Rio, but also I've had a bad experience during my check in. When I got in my room I noted it was not already to check in, it was not clean and someone forgot to clean my room after the last guest. I had to go out to have enough time to clean my room! Another situation that I would like to share was I called to the hotel before my staying and I asked the receptionist about the electric power transformer and he told me the hotel had this equipment. During my staying at the hotel I order this equipment for the staff and they told me that they do not know where it was. Its been really frustrating situation, because I was counting on this.
