« It could have been better »

Got a decent room however the main light was not working and as it was a windy night we heard a rattling noise of the roof that was very disturbing we did mention that to the reception but was told that the hotel was fully booked so had a disturbing night.

« Great staff, large & comfortable room »

Staff were great. A special mention to Emelia and Christoz who were fantastic. The local hotel team had no knowledge of the special offer we had booked via Mercury so there was some early confusion but Emelia sorted everything out calmly & efficiently as did Christoz in the restaurant.

« Extremely disappointing »

The room was fine and could not complain about that. The bar area was dirty with empty glasses left on empty tables, with spilt drinks on the three tables I looked at placing myself at.However the breakfast which was an extra £11 on top of the room cost of £59 for my one night stay, was extremely poor. Having paid the full amount of £70 on my arrival nobody knew about the breakfast payment when I went to the restaurant area in the morning. The breakfast was stone cold. Everything which I chose for my “hot” breakfast was cold, not a single item on my plate of sausages, bacon, beans, black pudding, mushrooms, tomatoes and fried bread was warm. Not only was the rate of £11 for breakfast outrageously overpriced, it was such a let down with everything being cold, having gone down to eat at 6.50am to make sure there would still be plenty of food there, and also expecting it to be hot. Would I be looking to book again? In one word NO!!

« Reasonably good stay »

Overall would say I had a good stay, stayed in a privilege room,which was spacious and comfortable. Little extras were very welcome. All staff friendly.room cleaned every day of my 5 nights. The only disappointment in my opinion would be the verity of the menu and the costs of food and drinks. I would certainly recommend to people and stay again if I am in the area.

« Breakfast lets the hotel down »

The hotel is great for us we always stay here its close by the office it works, what lets it down every time is the breakfast and the staff that work it, there seems to be a shortage of food as its always empty when we get there, the staff dont know the difference between a tea pot and a coffee pot, they ask what you would like tea or coffee sir, then give you what they want to, what the point, they are slow at cleaning the tables down for new customers, all in all the hotel is great, breakfast is rubbish, not worth £10

« Good stay in a great location »

We had a good one night stay at the hotel. Our room was spacious, clean with good facilities. Reception staff were lovely, especially the young lady who checked us in & out (she was so friendly). Breakfast was a huge disappointment with very few items such as juice, fruit, cereal and pastries available. When our cooked breakfast came it was cold and there wasn't a lot of it and I'm not a big eater!

The rooms are nice enough but the whole experience was a little disappointing. From the prices in the bar. The lack of WiFi in the room and bar area and the breakfast staff not having the correct reservation.

I though the hotel was very nice indeed. The staff were first class. (Hope they ger paid for what they ate worth). The food & drinks: very disappointed to be honest. Food was at best OK but very much over priced. Glass of Proseco €7.50 ? Come on!!!

Could here above and from side rooms all movement, breakfast was expensive and no option for continental only. £15 for a bowl of cornflakes and a tee is excessive. Hair in tea cup - service staff not particularly engaging. Overall not to the standard expected

« Had to change rooms, due to such a poor standard of room (112) »

The first room we were checked in had a list of things that were poor and of sub standard. The things we weren't happy about: 1. the room was too hot, no change if you turned the AC on. 2. bad smell of drains in the WC. 3. missing/no fridge in the room. 4. TV remote channel up/down button didn't work, plus the battery cover was missing and sellotape had been used. Upon request we were given another room and this was so much better. Everything that was bad about the other room, was good in the room change. It's just a pity that ALL the issues hadn't been identified by the staff of the hotel and then acted upon, before the room was given to us, and presumably other guests before/after too? Finally, to top off our bad experience there was a fire alarm and full evacuation at 5AM, caused by a guest using a vape!! This is my second stay at Mercure Sheffield Parkway, it will likely be my last too. Not the experience and stay I expected, Travelodge would have been better (and cheaper) than this!!
