« Polite staff »

Room 101 needs a bit of maintenance. The grouting on the bathroom floor needs replacing/repairing. I cut my foot on a broken piece and this is the second time this has happened in this hotel. The extractor fan was not working. Prices for very ordinary wines in the restaurant/bar still obscenely high, although this appears a general trend in Accor hotels. Otherwise very nice, with polite and friendly staff.

Staff were mostly friendly and helpful and the room was clean and tidy. However, the iron in my room did not appear to be working. There were no other food options offered at breakfast apart from what was set out which meant that there was limited choice of hot foods for vegetarians and only fried egg as the egg choice. On the second morning I had to ask for tea as it was not bought to the table.

« Nice room - some improvements could be made »

Really nice room and very helpful staff. Goody bags for children was especially nice. Couple of problems: 1: safe was broken and not usable - not massive problem on this occasion but should be checked before each guest. A while part was missing. 2: sofa bed while we know these are never going to be very comfortable, the one in the room was awful. In our case it was for a 4 year old but anyone bigger would have been very uncomfortable. Was surprised this wasn’t just taken out of the room - clearly really poor quality.

« Not as good as my previous 6 stays »

Room was clean and the receptionist was welcoming at check in .... our room was so warm and when we went in I was surprised that the air con wasn't on or the windows open with the curtain closed ... the air con was very poor and the receptionist tried to find a fan but she only had a heater. For the cost of the room I would expect the hotel to have a decent air con ... we had two small children and it took them ages to sleep ... my wife noticed the car park wasn't very full and suggested that they checked the rooms for a fan for us .... eventually a fan was located. I asked for 2 classes of milk for the kids and a d-coke for the room; at check out I was told it cost £10.50 due to a tray charge .... the receptionist took that charge off after I complained because no one mentioned a tray charge to me.

Room was good . Had issues in restaurant. Paid in advance for the meal allowance to find out that drinks aren't included . Stayed in many hotels and this is the 1st iv had to pay for my glass of coke even when my meal was much less than the allowance

We have been staying at this hotel frequently over the last eight years as our children were both at university in Sheffield. and we are always happy with our stay. The rooms are excellent with huge super comfortable beds and the best shower (with added seat) we have ever experienced. It is also great to have a mini fridge in the room just to enable us to keep cold drinks at all times, especially if you want a cold drink at night. An added touch is also the complimentary newspaper. Although neither of our children are now in Sheffield we still visit the area and will most definitely continue to use this hotel.

All aspects of arrival process & room was perfectly fine although functional rather than an experience. Breakfast was poor. At 7.25 the cooked breakfast was dried out and unenticing. The quality of coffee was really poor. Instant coffee machines nowadays are inexcusable. Having stayed at Mercure Cheltenham on a previous business trip (which is a very tired facility) I am now likely to seek out an alternative brand with a fresher approach
