« Pleasant stay, a few niggles resolved »

Got an apt room on third try. First room had obviously had a smoker in it, second room was not clean, bathroom floor had dirty footprints and coffee machine was unclean and smelt 'sour'. Third room was OK but 'tired' and shower head leaked.

My stay at the Mercure Sheffield Parkway was pleasant, good service was provided in all departments from check in to check out, The room was clean, bed was very soft which suited me fine. The room temperature was easily adjusted to suit which ensured a comfortable night. The evening meal was of good qualityand the same can be said for the breakfast. Overall a good stay and I will return

« Good Staff, SLOW food »

The first impression on entering my room was very positive and overall I found the room excellent throughout. Easy to work. Easy to sleep. Good lighting and decor etc. I had the pleasure of meeting the Manager and some of his team who were conducting an informal customer reception in the public area close to the restaurant. this further cemented my impressions. It then went downhill fast as the restaurant service was ridiculously slow and this severely blighted the remainder of the evening and I'd be very reluctant to eat there again, which may of course influence my decision to stay there. I was part of a group of 12 but we'd booked over 24 hours in advance and there were hardly any other people eating there at the time. Not sure what was going on behind the scenes but it wasn't a very good customer experience out front on this occasion. The rest of the group were all frustrated at the delays.

(1) requested room on high floor, and not near lift. Got told not an option - and got given one on the first floor nearly opposite the lift! .... but the hotel was clearly not full.... so why not try and sort? (2) the room had 2 single beds. I sleep on the rhs - so used that bed. It was soft and uncomfortable to be honest. Went to sleep though as very tired - but in the middle of night woke up as uncomfortable. Thinking they were just soft beds I tried to get back to sleep. Could not and in the end decided to try the other bed - which whilst sill soft was clearly better than the other. It became clear the bed I wanted to use was broken! (3) Asked at reception on check out - how may stay had been. I politely explained what I explain here. Receptionist just said "apologies" - and here's your bill! No gesture made. No follow up (other than this questionnaire!). Ahhhhhh!

Room was clean and tidy. Every thing that you needed was provided in the room.The breakfast the following morning was spot on, the black pudding was cooked to perfection. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff who couldn’t do enough. Lovely bar area and spacious rooms ... even with a family of 4 in. Breakfast amazing and catered for all our tastes. Reception fantastic. Definitely stay again.

We have stayed many times, this time the hotel was very quiet and services seem to be cut back accordingly. We were one of the first in for dinner, but it took an extremely long time for our order to arrive. We were kept informed. The Buffet Breakfast was not available as the hotel was quite, but our order was taken quickly. Bedroom lighting as I mentioned in previous reviews is hopeless ! The only place you can read is at the desk . No bottled water this time, advised that it had been stopped along time ago. Its the little things that count ? No interaction on check out. Did you enjoy your stay? etc.

Having defined requirements when booking - was given a room that was not requested - pointless buying set dinners in advance - there is no set dinner ! just an allowance against the normal menu.

Easy check in, friendly and efficient staff. Had a meal in the bar ( just a burger), which was pretty good ( better than I thought it would be) Good standard at breakfast as well. I'm sure I will use the hotel again.

Customer service at the hotel was brilliant and the lady who was on shift that day dealt with the problem excellently. However I find it extremely worrying that when I first checked in she notified me that I still needed to pay even though I was 100% sure that I had already paid when I initially booked the room. A pre authorisation was taken as she was going to look into this further however asked me if I could prove I have already paid. Shortly after I looked onto my internet banking and found the payment I had made back in March. Fortunately for me this was my proof of payment and this was dealt with accordingly. However what I find worrying is if I didn’t find the proof of payment what would have happened? Additionally if this was my grandparents I know that they would have paid as they would have thought they had been mistaken. It is not good enough when a leading hotel company as big as Mecure doesn’t have an up to date system and I had to go through all of the stress and hassle of finding proof of payment. This really did ruin my stay here as I spent most of it trying to find proof that I had already paid.

The hotel felt neglected and unclean in lots of areas. The carpet in our room was very grubby, we had a lovely coffee machine but the only choice was expresso. The floor boards were extremely noisy so we heard every guest walking along the corridors. We ordered a hot chocolate and it was luke warm, the breakfast was luke warm and so was the coffee at breakfast. On checkout we weren’t asked if we had enjoyed our stay, but overall the staff were friendly.

First room no hot water, second room no heating, third room cold took until 3am for the room to warm up but I could not face moving room again. Staff lovely. I sent a email complaining to actor but no reply after 8 days

I have stayed at the Mercure Parkway before. It is a good hotel in a very convenient location for Sheffield Business Park if you enjoy walking. The experience was marred, most seriously, by waiting, on the one evening I ate alone for 45 to 50 minutes for my meal- the only course I ordered. There were about six other people in the restaurant at the same time, so the delay was inexplicable. I was attending a training course with work to do in the evening, so the long delay was most unwelcome. Worse, it exactly mirrored my previous experience there when I last stayed in 2014 - also for a training course - when I experienced similar waits every evening. The choice at breakfast was, I felt, rather limited. A better choice of cereals (including granola, for example) would not have gone amiss, and I wondered why there were pots of jam and marmalade but no honey (surely a popular choice at breakfast)? Availability of the advertised granola, yogurt and berries was hit-and-miss. I checked out the night before I left but ended up paying in two installments because the last night did not immediately appear on the bill. I was surprised this came as a surprise to the person on reception. Apart from the long wait, nothing too terrible, but more variable service than one might hope for or expect.

« Let down by service »

Although my stay was in all good I would just say that I felt let down by the service from the restaurant staff. I enjoyed two courses of my three course meal and then handed the desert menu and was told by the waiter he would return shortly to take my order. Having decided my desert I sat waiting for his return, I could see them serving others desert but still no one took my order. After sitting patiently for 20 mins a waiter finally came over by then I decided it was to late and I just said sorry I've waited to long and wouldn't bother with it. Other than that poor service, all in all my stay was good.
