Our 2nd visit, the service & staff was excellent & friendly as previously who went out of there way to accommodate you. A negative was the pool water, the quality was very poor. We will be returning for a 3rd time to this wonderful hotel.

« Grand old dame, but could be better. »

A lovely old hotel with wonderful service in a great location. However, our experience was marred at checkout when we were confronted about a missing laundry bag (staff must have quickly checked after we left the room and phoned reception before I could sign the account). It was a normal very cheap laundry bag worth only a few cents, however this made us feel like minor criminals! My wife had used the usually-throw-away item to put some cosmetics in and hadn't noticed small printing on it to the effect 'do not remove from room'. I'm sure the staff at checkout felt bad about confronting us in this way. Given we had spent a lot of money at the hotel and we are now unlikely to return to this hotel as a result of this bad experience, a policy like this which might save just a few cents each day is plainly ridiculous and incongruous for a hotel carrying the Sofitel brand.

Room and facilities were excellent and food fantastic with breakfast a standout! Would have loved to stay longer in the hotel as it was in an very good location on the river. Don't know about the new wing being built with noise from the road -but it's Vietnam and getting away from bikes may be a lost cause. Bed was extremely comfortable (a very strong selling point in a country known for its rock hard beds. Pool was great but tiles were coming loose. Staff superb. Décor was not only appropriate but very tasteful without being a pastiche of French Vietnam. Well done. Staff were clearly looking after the foyer and guests. Bathroom set up was excellent and good idea with glass door divider able to be used with shower or toilet. Would recommend the hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable welcoming experience.

Room was good condition, clean and spacious. Love the view from the room, and staff was kind. But some guest couldn't speak English well, having just a little bit hard time to communicate especially in restaurant. Had several issue at the restaurant, there's hair on my salmon sushi at the Japanese restaurant, but staff changed to new one immediately, and I ordered green tea but they served camomile tea, but they changed immediately. If they offer any small apology gesture like free dessert (fresh fruits or pudding) it will be much better, they just said sorry only. And the next day, I saw hair again in buffet breakfast from hash brown. Please focus on restaurant hygiene. Thanks

Hotel has good service. However the distance between hotel and ancient city is too close to order a taxi but too far to walk. And the a/c was bad, we always feel hot during the morning time, look like the a/c not work in this times.

Overall, the experience is good. What would be better to improve are following key points: 1. Cleaning - cleaning is good but items of hotel should be placed back to its original locations as how it was the first moving in day | standard setup of your hotel. 2. Local knowhow - staffs should be more experience with the areas in term of location to recommend to guests. It is best if we can have this information guider to experience the town vs. standard information. 3. Booking and reservation - communication should be consistent when guests seek for hotel package at front desk vs. over phone call at anytime during the day. It seems that the night shift hotline is not closely working with the sales team to have enough information to guide guests. 4. Information - it is always great to have a newspaper with upcoming and about of what is happening in town, yet it is more practical if what is key highlight, places should be gone to, etc.. for tourist / guests. 5. Setting at room welcoming - Would be great to have a welcoming card, a chocolate or flower if there is woman coming along in a booking. This would surely improve the experience from little details. Overall all, staffs are very helpful and friendly when we are asking questions, and those listed points are for improvement in management to better accommodate and shorten all process to improve guests experience. Nice enough hotel, though it is on a bit of a building site with projects going on around it. This is not a problem with noise, just the surrounding area. Hoi An is very nice, though becoming a tourist trap. A couple of days before staying at Sofitel M Gallery at Hoi An, I stayed at M Gallery in Hanoi. At Hanoi I felt well looked after, complementary fruit, sparking water and sweets in my room on arrival as well as complimentary drinks if we wanted each evening with snacks. Plus the benefits of the 'Chic Aperitif' offer. At Hoi An, the Chic Aperitif offer was introduced after I placed my booking so I payed roughly an extra £100, for a two night stay. I booked the Hanoi hotel at the same time as the Hoi An hotel and the offer was available at that time in Hanoi. I did query this with the group and the manager at Hoi An, the manager informed me the offer was introduced later to Hoi An. So, therefore as I booked at an early pay in advance rate, I was able to pay more! The manager at Hoi An did provide us with a welcome letter offering us a free soft drink or coffee/tea. It was my birthday while I was there, and I did receive a special cake in my room, that was nice. Otherwise, I find it hard to rationalise the service at both hotels, while staff at both were lovely, heIpful and friendly, I felt Hanoi management went out of their way for guests. I am not sure how I reconcile this with the Accor group and a consistency of service that I would expect.

First time at M Gallery Hoi An. I am now convinced and will definitely recommend this venue Good: 1- extremely close to the Ancient Town. Walking distance of 10 min 2- The room is meticulous with attention to details. Very clean and updated decor/ammenities 3- Service is top notch 4-Offer free bike rentals to roam around the area 5-The bed and pillows are super comfy 6-outside the hotel are an abundance of spas that offer affordable massages, manicure/pedicures Opportunities: 1- Pool is smaller than I expected (based on the website pictures)

Staff was very helpful and smiling. Breakfast has a good selection of fresh products, fresh fruit juice which is not common and very enjoyable. The only thing I would note is that the rooms are not soundproofed. We've been in a room next to a very noisy family with kids (while the hotel was not full), banging the doors, so we were not able to sleep. Other than that all good. Thanks, Mathilde

Room size is just right althought I dont like the idea of open bath room without glasses wall. Room services is good but not impressed with bar at the ground floor. Foods and drinks in restaurants was too slow. Staffs seem not well trained enough for serving although they are nice.

Hotel is nicely furnished, bedrooms are generous in size and comfort, and lobby staff are friendly and welcoming. Located in a quiet area but within easy reach of main attractions. Breakfast selection is good and tasty, but value for money needs improvement. Breakfast in other hotels in Vietnam in a similar class is cheaper or included in the room rate. Otherwise, hotel is highly recommended!
