I really like my view of the pool and part of the beach. The included breakfast was great as well as lunch and dinner. The room was very nice with 2 beds, a nice bathroom and shower. A great place to stay for a great value.

The hotel is nice, we had a very good short vacation, and our rooms were comfortable. The staff was very nice and accommodating, which was very helpful because we were there to celebrate my mother’s 50th birthday. However, the hotel wasn’t cheap by any means and the fact that it didn’t include even a basic breakfast (which is pretty much standard even in some of the cheapest hotels), and then being charged such an unreasonable price per person to have breakfast, just felt wrong and motivated us to find our meals elsewhere. There are many restaurants a short walk from the hotel, with outstanding food and less than half the cost. What was worse was overhearing other guests checking in, that had paid less for their stay and had breakfast included in their package.

I was there for birthday, before my arrival someone of my family called to ask decorate the room and that was impossible! What’s the difficulty of buying some balloons, flowers or whatever? On the other hand, service was not that good, even when some of them were very nice, for instance, security guard of the door to the sea or people who help with bags, the attitude of employees in the bar near to the pool or the people of the restaurant was good but not great, food took so long to come to my table, they had some little “fights” between them in front of guests. I stayed in a room with view to the pool and the music all day was very loud and uncomfortable. I understand at the pool music is essential, but I suggest taking into consideration people who want to rest in the rooms near to it. Smell at 10th floor was not good, I don’t know if it’s humidity but as soon as I came out of the elevator it was perceptible. I suggest do some activities to integrate or entertain people at the pool or at night, at least that’s what I noticed at Irotama and I think that would improve the experience. I guess the rest of things was ok.

We've been there twice and we've loved it. Staff is super friendly, hotel is one of the best locations available. Beach access is quick and service there is super. The only thing I didn't like was that the complimentary water in the room was only available the first day and never replaced. In most hotel around the world there's complimentary water available every day. To avoid using too many plastic bottles, some hotels offer glass bottles/jars that are refilled every day. Also... the inside of the kettle was rusted which prevented us from using it. This should be checked.

The Mercure Santa Marta Hotel Emile is a great place to enjoy the best aspects of Santa Marta without all of the drama that one finds on the public beaches in the "old" sections of the city and certainly Rodadero. The property is reasonably new and kept very clean (especially given it's on a beach!). Like most of the beach-side properties in Santa Marta, the hotel is part of a condominium project. It's entrance is separate but, the pool and beachfront are shared. Rooms have limited views. This is OK for me as other than sleeping and changing clothes, we were on the beach, in the pool or off property enjoying the area. Which leads me to the fact that the Deluxe Rooms are small. Not NYC small, but certainly it's not conducive to staying and hanging out. Morning breakfast buffet is well-staged and the morning manager, Juan Carlos, is one of the nicest parts of the stay. (As was the woman front reception person). Food in general was above expectations! Things I don't like: $6-7 to go the 5 minutes to the Zasue Shopping center is BS. Can't understand why there is no pathway between the properties and the center.

The rooms weren't as clean as possible and it looked much better in photos than in real life. The restaurant staff was amazing,but the reception staff were not. I won't be staying here again nor recommend it to anyone in the future.
