« Comfortable, efficient and just what we needed »

Loved the 'wardrobe' shower room lovely and perfect for our needs. The 'continental breakfast' and layout was perfect for our needs and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Well done will definitely use Ibis again. Before booking I used your call centre and was less than impressed. On line experience great but was a little worried about filling in the 'fast check out' section which I did not use.

« Easy check in, comfy and nice breakfast »

The check in was effortless, and the room was fully functionable. It was a nice touch having water. The breakfast was well presented, clean and everything possible was available. Hotel was easy to find and a good size car park. All staff were pleasant. I would recommend to anyone. ONE BAD THING---not the hotel fault----I find smoking to be the most filthy habit on God's earth, and it seems a common trait among smokers to inflict their revolting habit onto everyone---so perhaps have a sign asking smokers to stand around the corner from the entrance, as I had to walk through a cloud of smoke twice----also ask them to dispose of their litter in an appropriate receptacle.

We found the hotel to be clean and modern and conveniently located for our visits to Barnsley and York. We could easily have visited Sheffield, Leeds, Wakefield or Huddersfield had we wished to. Staff were friendly and helpful and we will have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others.

« Value for money with continental breakfast and great location »

Spotted this hotel when we had a detour on Denby Dale to M1 so stayed for one night a few weeks later. It is in a great location just off the M1, the rooms and shower very good as is the continental breakfast- very good value for money (we stayed on a Sunday night). Toby Carvery next door or you can take advantage of this in house restaurant.

Poor reception, basically was "accused" of not filling in a pre authorisation, as an accor club member I have to fill one in with each booking. Such a bad welcome will not be staying there again

The room was small for a family of four and the sofa bed was small for the two children to share. We were only provided with two towels instead of four. The night porter was lacking in customer service skills and when the room key didn’t work asked accusingly how long we were booked in for. Upon requesting an extra pillow he had a cursory look around the reception office and told me that none were available which is frankly unbelievable given the size of the hotel.

« Served it's purpose »

I enjoyed our stay at Ibis Styles Barnsley at the weekend, using only as a base while attending my brother's 40th birthday celebrations in Cawthorne - I have to say I was disappointed that I got a much smaller "Family Room" (Room 316) than other family members staying whose were much bigger and more spacious and have to question if it was actually a family room - I am a Travel Agent and booked as, so expected to have been given the same as others to help enhance my stay and aid selling in the future to my clients. Hotel was very hot which made staying in this room as a family of four quite stifling and didn't see the need for heating to be on in the Hotel the last weekend in August. Breakfast included was lovely and great being available until 11am. All the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.

Ideal for what we wanted. Stayed with my husband and 2 year old labrador and pleanty of room for the 3 of us. Only down sides were very hard pillows and the outdoor eating area (as we had the dog the only place we could eat) was basically a smoking area with a few tables. Thabk god it wasn't raining or there would have been nowhere for us to sit!

« It was ok. »

Room ok but maintainence needs looking at as floor tiles missing grout. toilet was really uncomfy and bed wasn't the most comfortable thing I have slept on either but then I don't like hotel beds as a rule. Breakfast (continental) was really nice good coffee (for me is always a plus) and plenty choice never chose the English as not required. Evening meal Restaurant choices limited and expensive wouldnt do that again.

No one one reception. Had to go looking for someone to check in found them chatting with other staff behind the bar. When I asked who was on reception I was told I am. Then waited another 5 minutes for him to finish his conversation. Then I was charged an extra 10 pounds to put my suitcase in my room 55 minutes early

You were part of a very large large group who arrived at the hotel early, many arrived from 11am onwards. Many guests wanted to order food and drink at the bar and many wanted to check in early. During your wait at reception, the duty manager was serving other members of your party in the lounge. We were not expecting a large group to arrive this early - at what is normally a quiet period of the day and I am sorry this resulted in your short wait. Many members of the group stored their luggage in a meeting room that was made available to them to avoid paying an early checkin fee, which is common in most chain hotels. « Overnight stop. »

We had a really nice, very clean room at rear of hotel. Only one problem was the railway line about 15mtrs from our window, made it a bit noisy up until 22.30 and from 05.50. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were 1st class. Continental breakfast was adequate. On same site about 25mtrs away was a Toby Carvery. Generally all-round very good. Would definitely stop here again.

Very pleasent clean friendly staff.Just a couple of complaints. We were in room 102 which was just above the smoking and sitting area and was kept awake until about 4 in the morning and again at 6 am by very noisey people. Breakfast ok apart from raw sausages.We would stay again but not in any rooms over seating area
