« Not a good place to stay in hot weather »

Stayed there in early July during the UK heat wave (ca. 30°C). Hotel has no A/C, windows open only a crack. And in addition the heater in my room was working full blast and could not be turned off. Realised that too late into a hot night, but changed to another room the next morning. Which was then slightly cooler.

« Short stay shame about the temperature of the room »

The room was ok, although there is no air-con, i was unable to sleep due to the high temperature, given the temperature outside was 30 degrees. If it hadn't have been for the temperature the room would have been satisfactory the bed was comfortable and clean and bathroom was fine. Breakfast was a bit disorganised. Meal on the evening was ok.

Rooms and service always great, enjoyed the ambience of the bar and garden seating area, the room due to the weather was boiling and uncomfortable, not blaming Ibis for the weather but thought they should have had fans available for the upper rooms. See you soon!!

« Front of house/reception staff had a less that satisfactory attitude »

Upon arrival I waited for 5-10 minutes before someone appeared from a back room. The lady on reception had an attitude suggesting that she didn’t want to be there and didn’t take any interest in me as a guest and the interaction was minimal. Upon leaving the next morning the gentleman on reception had the same minimal attitude as the evening prior not asking about my stay or if I had any concerns. Room was clean and the gentleman from the bar was the most helpful and pleasing.

Given the current temperatures, it was disappointing that only thick Duvets were on the bed, rather than a thin sheet. Also we were not offered the use of a fan at check-in, though apparently there would have been one available. Also, when guests like ourselves have obvious mobility problems, why were we allocated a room so far away from the lift, when the hotel was by no means full?

We were not happy with the overall experience at this hotel. Considering the high temperatures we are experiencing and the fact that the hotel does not have air con, we hoped that there would have been fans in the room as a matter of course, which there weren't. After asking for one, we did get one. We then decided at about 6.30 to stay at the hotel for our evening meal, however, we were told that as they were expecting a large tour bus, we would have to wait until 8.30. As a paying resident , we found this to be unacceptable and thought that it could have been mentioned when we checked in. We asked for recommendations for nearby restaurants and we were pointed in the direction of a pub within walking distance called the "Duke of Gloucester " . The Ibis hotel had in fact done us a favour! The food and service were excellent and we would highly recommend. Later that evening , back in our room, we found the temperature to be very uncomfortable, bearing in mind we were on one of the higher floors. My partner popped downstairs to the bar and asked for a couple of glasses of ice and returned without any as they had run out! We then decided to go to the bar and buy some chilled water. As we were on our way back to our room, the bar man chased after us and said he could now give us some ice and was much more helpful. All a bit late!

Most significantly the hotel is too hot. Clearly the weather is unusual, but I have experienced this before in less extreme weather. The building is fundamentally flawed in not having air conditioning in the rooms. Food is better than it was. Room facilities are OK, though a slow-draining sink and a broken shower head (albeit fixed on request) don't help.

The room was like a sauna didn't have any airconditioning and it got very noisy when I opened the window. So had a terrible night. The service at the restaurant was poor and I was made to wait for over 50 mts for my dinner to be served after telling me there was no table available for after 7.

Staff at the Hotel are friendly enough, although some male staff seemed actively aggravated by the idea of serving customers. Wifi was very impressively easy to connect to by just entering your own name, and seemed reliable. Stayed on 02 July 2018 and room was stiflingly warm - window did not open wide enough to ventilate room adequately and no air conditioning or fan was present. Situation only worsened when using kettle or shower. Could not sit or sleep on bed as it was too hot. Room was also noisy all evening and morning due to construction opposite, but this is not the fault of the hotel. Breakfast had very limited choice of food, with no hot buffet. Those options available left only jam and toast or one banana that was half mush as options for those who don't eat meat, eggs or dairy. Astounded that there was not even Marmite or peanut butter?

The room was set out for one person. Only one towel, one complimentary bottle of water, small amounts of tea, coffee, sugar and milk. There was no option to purchase a cooked breakfast. This was only available to guests on a coach trip. Not the individual traveller.

staff are friendly, food in the evenings is good quality, rooms are clean and shower is great. downsides ... on a hot day the rooms are stifling, the breakfast could definitely be improved and the drinks are expensive. overall though it is not a bad place to stay.

« sofa bed felt like lying on pebbles »

The sofa bed in room 109 of Crewe Ibis Styles is not fir for purpose. It was so uncomfortable it felt like I was lying on bare springs. The mattress had no padding left in it. We arrived late at night so with the kids in the main bed we were too tired to ask for a room change. Please please change the mattress. It isn't fit for purpose. We are coming to the area again in August en route to Scotland, but I can't risk another stay here. The rest of the hotel was great- lovely breakfast. Especially enjoyed the watermelon and yoghurt. The other room we booked stank of curry but the staff were fine about changing it without any fuss, thank you.

Staff are always excellent, only issue is WIFI, this is consistently poor, very slow indeed. A change of menu more frequently would be good too!

I stayed at the Ibis in Crewe as I was going to a retirement do at Crewe golf club that evening. It was convenient for me. No trouble booking in,got my room,had a nice meal before l left for my evening out. Returning at about 0015 played a game of pool with two friends had a couple of drinks then went to bed.
