I have been lucky enough to stay at the New Inchcolm twice within a few weeks, and it was quite simply as good as any hotel I have ever stayed at. The rooms are stunning, whether its the standard room or the suites, and the service is first rate - definitely the archetype 5-star experience. Enjoyable from start to finish, the hotel is also very well priced for the levels of quality on offer. Will be going back again and agin, every time I am in Brisbane, frankly.

The room was lovely. Comfortable and unlike a typical hotel room. The staff were extremely attentive and most helpful, especially the bar staff when we were deciding what to try - the bar is stocked with a wide range of excellent drinks. Didn't eat at the restaurant this time but tried the bar menu, which was great. Previous trips we have dine at the restaurant and would highly recommend this experience. Unique dishes presented exquisitely. Have stayed 3 times now and will definitely return again.

Not a happy one. Elevator broke down and we had to walk up and down and carry luggage down from the fourth floor. My partner has bung knees and this caused major discomfort and knee swelling.

I wasn't going to leave feedback because the bad out weighs the good, but then you have emailed me twice asking for feedback, so here goes. We booked this two night stay through a Scoopon voucher. As it was classed as a 5* boutique hotel we were expecting to be blown away. Unfortunately, we came away disappointed. The preserved heritage and the complimentary decor of the hotel is great; from the entrance, to the reception, to the lift and then the rooms. Great style and attention to detail, and the colours and furniture chosen work brilliantly together. The reception staff also can not be faulted, no complaints there either. Our disappointment stems from the room mainly. We weren't in a basic room, apparently we were in the next room up. We felt cramped for space and were constantly getting in each others way. By trying to put a separate room between the bedroom and the bathroom, meant that neither room was able to do what it is supposed to do. If you could do away with the wall in between then that would have been better. This wasn't a relaxing room to stay in for two people, one would be ok though. The bathroom was a real let down and the biggest fault with our room. There was no space to put any of your toiletries, just a tiny shelf under the mirror that was mainly taken up with hotel provided toiletries. The mirror opened the wrong way so you had to walk in to the shower to get to it, and this was again stocked with a fair number of hotel provisions. The mirror wall unit itself was not deep enough to put much in in any case. Apart from which, everything in this area got wet when you had a shower, and water from the shower did not drain back in to the drainage area, so there was water all over the floor. We had to put a towel on the floor to act as a dam, to stop water going towards the wash basin and toiolet. In essence this whole shower area is badly designed. I bet the cleaning staff hate cleaning the bathrooms in this hotel, or maybe it is just this grade of room that the bathroom is so compact? My partner had nowhere to put her make up out so she could do what women do, it was a total non starter so she went out with none on, it was just too hard. The only place that she could put it all was in two mirror display crevices next to the bathroom, or on the table next to the kettle in the adjoining room. A few other points; the restaurant was one of things we were looking forward to as it had received great reviews. Again we were disappointed. The meal lacked the sophistication and subtlety of flavour that one expects from a hotel and restaurant of this calibre. Perhaps this was because the regular chef was away, but that doesn't excuse our water glasses being left empty for some time, with my having to ask for them to be topped up. The staff were on the ball with the wine, but then we were paying for that. We also noticed that another table of three diners left the restaurant before their plates had been cleared from the table, so missing the opportunity to offer them desert or coffees. Not really good enough. Whilst walking to our room one time, I ran my finger over the wooden beading on the wainscotting around the lift. Lots of dust. Same again on the door frames and on top of the wall lamps. I may as well mention that the over reliance on French throughout the hotel was a little pretentious, and got to be quite annoying. It may be a 5* hotel but is there really any need for this? The hotel is in Brisbane , not France, or even Canada for that matter where there is a big French presence. I dare say that had we been in a better suited room, then we may not have noticed some of the issues I have raised. But, it is what it is, and even at Scoopon rates we felt that we had paid too much for our stay.

Excellent. I was however a little disappointed at the bedding. At this level I believe a king size bed is virtually mandatory. Also the 2 bedroom suite lacked a lounge where 4 could sit in comfort. Again at this price point and 5 star level one expects more space. This compares poorly with the Lindrum which we stayed at 1 month ago.

I love the rooms however this trip the service was below your normal standard. I sat down for breakfast, and it was busy, but it took ages before my table was set and my order taken. The breakfast came out to the dining room but was not served to me immediately. The waitress had to check to see if I'd had my breakfast, and she found it sitting on the bar. I am a regular customer

Wonderful room and great service. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite which was beautiful the only thing that would have made the room perfect would have been a bath after spending a few hours shopping. Unfortunately just after we placed our dinner order and wine order in the restaurant the fire alarm went off so we could not enjoy the dinner for my wife's birthday. We had to cancel the order as we had a prior engagement. Unfortunately at 6am in the morning the heat was set automatically on which made the room to hot. We were unable to change to air conditioner so we turned off. Unfortunately this was not the sleep in we were hoping after being out late and having a night without our children. We will be back later in the year and hopefully we can have an opportunity to have that dinner.

Unfortunately I wasn't well during my stay. But the breakfast service was very basic and not up to standard for this class of hotel. Compare it to the Playford in Adelaide and you wouldn't believe they were in the same category. Difficult to be picked up and dropped off. Not enough toiletries (body wash) if you shower more than once a day. Luckily I was on the first floor as the lift wasnt working.
