« The suite was disappointing. »

I upgraded to a suite, which was really nice - spacious and well designed. However, it was pretty dusty and didn't seem to be well maintained. The USB port beside the bed was not working (i called reception and she informed me that it's not working). Otherwise, service was great. Food from room service was also fantastic.

« Hotel stay was fine but was dissapointed with the Wedding Banquet Service »

I was pleasantly surprised with the service upon check-in. Staff were friendly and even took the initiatively to offer an additional bed for my daughter who is nine years of age so that we can all sleep comfortably. Often, I have to request it for it upon arrival. Service staffs was also attentive during the morning breakfast. Buffet spread was good. We found that the request for bell-boy assistance to help with the luggage upon checking out took a little too long (more than 15 min) which we eventually cancel the request and took our bags to the front desk although the staff did offer us to leave our bags in the room while we proceed for check-out. However I was totally disappointed with the wedding banquet service. Not only had I received several negative feedbacks from friends and relatives on the dinner night itself, I've experience it personally when I was sitting at the VIP table. The staffs seemed inexperienced. They missed out my husband's order for a second beer. Drinks were not constantly filled up for other tables. Food were served in an untidy manner and there were litter on the floor that the staff choose to ignore. I'm feeling embarrassed being the host's family. This was not the kind of service that one would expect from such a reputable organization. It makes me wonder if there's a service difference between holding a banquet in a resort versus a hotel. Overall stay could have been fantastic if not for the poor service of your wedding banquet.

« The stay was good, cleanliness of the villa could have been better »

The hotel staff was very helpful, the Villa was beautiful. I feel the pool area of the villa was a let down as it was very dirty. I believe if the hotel is charging their guests such high amounts for their stays, the cleanliness should be taken care off. I loved the overall experience though. Thank you. Will definitely come back again :)

Food variety was limited, quality also disappointing. The shuttle service is also very slow. Don't understand why we can't take photos in the hotel premises. What's the difference if we were to take a DSLR/ iPhone ourselves to take photos of us and the hotel surroundings vs getting a photographer in to help us with the pictures? The only redeeming factor is the prompt and patient service of the front desk.

Underwhelming. For the price paid, the accommodation could have been better. Upon arrival, my mum found mould in the water tank of the coffee machine, and when the staff was asked about it, they were not apologetic, but indignantly admitted that the coffee machine was seldom cleaned. Despite the price, the location was also not private at all, the pool can be accessed from a sidewalk leading to the main road, without any gate or door preventing intruders from entering. This does not help the guests feel safe when they sleep, as strangers could access the house when they are asleep. However, the place is otherwise not bad, and it is quite the experience to have peacocks walking around the pool area! The dessert treats also tasted great. Although the hotel staff completely butchered my name.

In regards of the main road access to the Tanjung Beach Club, indeed we do have stairs that can easily access from and to the beach area, however for your information after 7pm in the evening, our security is always lock up the gate doors so that no one able to access our resort by then, we do take seriously the safety and security for our guests. Excellent breakfast Excellent ambiance and staf Total experience downgraded due to booking policy. We asked for a basic room, which we have enjoyed for the last 15 years or so. We got a (much more expensive) "prestige" room as we were told the hotel was fully booked. It turned out that the "prestige" room simply was the addition of a lounge - which we had no need for and which was seperate and lockable so could easily have been converted to a standard room.

- the aircon in my room was too cold even though I try to adjust to the highest - door knob was gone? only one side of the 2 doors is attached (room 434) - the toilet nearest to Saffron II is so old! side wall was coming off and when you tried to fix with the glue during the day, the toilet was stink with the glue fumes. I did not expect this to come from a 5 star hotel. - staff was very casual and made me feel like I am in a boutique hotel instead of a premium hotel. - overall, not impressed.

« Quality hotel slightly let down by quality of breakfast »

Great ambience throughout hotel. Decent sized room with all expected provisions. Very large and comfortable bed. Large swimming pool with comfortable loungers. Restaurants provide good although expensive meals. There was a large buffet breakfast provided, most of which was good (especially the individually prepared fresh fruit juices). The only let down was that the English cooked breakfast items were not hot, the muffins and cakes did not have any real taste and the water provided for making tea was only "hot" - they not understand that tea requires boiling water otherwise it does not diffuse properly - especially my preferred green tea.

« it was fine but not excellent »

We love the location and layout of the hotel. It is very 'airy' and we love the pool area. We stayed at the same hotel before when it was still the Fairmont Hotel. We noticed the atmosphere had changed a lot. And sorry to say (as I am interested in interior design) we noticed the change, which is not really my style, but that is purely a matter of taste, so please do not feel offended about that. But it seemed to me there was a lot going on in the interior, it is rather a lot for eye to take in, many different styles, also in the rooms. To me the hotel misses a united look and style. Service was really nice and attentive and the spa is absolutely wonderful, also the food at the spa restaurant is very good. In all we had a very pleasant stay.

« excellent subject to 2 qualifications. »

excellent. my 2 qualifications are: first, there should be no smokers' area near the pool. the smoke is blown by the prevailing winds over a large part of the pool's non-smoking area making people in this area the unwelcome recipients of tobacco smoke. this brings down the ambiance of the pool area. second, my mini bar was not topped up.

The stay was nice, I loved the spa and the spa pool area. Also the Garden restaurant was great. But I have to say that the food at the normal pool area (maybe from Terrace restaurant ?) was horrible. Even the french fries were bad, I can get better ones from McDonalds. This one meal by the pool was the worst I have had for a while and in addition it was expensive, so not a good combination. I hope you will improve the pool menu.

« High price, high expectations with medium results. »

You know that you have first world problems when you are dissatisfied with a hotel of this caliber. Our return visit to this hotel, whilst not disappointing, just did not meet the expectation that we had given its hefty price tag. When you are paying $500 plus per night for your stay, it is not unfair to expect a seamless stay of which this was not. Whilst nothing terrible happened there were lots of little issues that were frustrating and did undermine the quality of our stay. On check in we were told different information in person to that received via email, complimentary drinks passes were not passed on, there was no welcome package waiting in our hotel room, evening turndown and treats did not always occur, aging gym equipment, overpriced and inadequate barside drinks (although the young chap who works there was lovely), always having to track down plastic cutlery and bowls for our toddler at breakfast and a checkout that was certainly not customer focused. The grounds at the hotel are incredible and impeccably maintained and an afternoon spent sipping cocktails in the Le bar is delightfully relaxing. The concierge staff are a particular highlight and do everything in their power to make your stay efficient. I can’t say the same for the actual staff at the counter. A week after checking out our overdue amount has not been refunded and my emails are unanswered.
