Firstly the staff are fantastic. From the ladies on reception to the gent on concierge they were all supremely helpful and really 'went the extra mile'. Carmen, another lady on reception I cant remember name and the young man as concierge were as good as any you will find in any hotel anywhere. Superb! Location is in the Dragon City complex and has easy access to the surrounding areas. Breakfast was good in a lovely location. The room was solid very comfy bed. I was only here for one night but wish it had been more

Woeful Place - promises to deliver but does not even come close !

OK so heres the deal - what ever rating they have or reviews you read - believe this one ! The photos and outer belie the real story. The foyer, lobby, lifts and surrounds look great. staff is pleasant and well trained. But the rooms are very very small. Shower and toilet are glass modules which are opened topped. No in room toiletries (you can purchase a tooth brush at reception from a bowl !) - Room fridge is size of shoe box and 2 small water. the 24/7 ALL DAY Room Service is from 11 am to 11pm (actually 12/7). Decor is personal taste - this is Casino/Chess Art Decor '70s. Te best restaurant cannot cook western food - just terrible at a large price ! Impossible to get a drink after 10pm - the one that 'might' was closed for private function (900 rooms and no bar ?) Chck out at middat - they insisted on cleaning the room at 10am ..? Woeful place - not cheap and so far below what they promise on photos and website !

Comparing Accor Hotels

Ck Couples - Confirmed reviews ALL

Visiting Seoul after the last visit in May 2023, decided to stay in Yongsan, particularly Dragon City, given the three new Accor hotels; Novotel Hotels & Suites, Ibis Styles and Grand Mercure. Since this trip would be an out an about most of the time, opted for the Ibis Styles, since it “ticked all the boxes” on facilities expected in Accor hotels in Seoul below the Luxury category. Arriving just after noon, we were directed to the priority check in, which was quick and smooth. Asked if there was a room upgrade and was told there is only one type of room, with either twin or queen bed. Asked about the use of the self-service laundry facilities and was told only available to rooms with access to “Dodo Lounge”, which also has cooking facilities. Asked if I could pay to use this and was told only rooms with Dodo Lounge access can use. To further question on availability of such coin-operated laundries nearby the hotel drew a blank; Googling showed up a few within a few hundred meters. So, gave up pursuing this further as it seems the answers appear very much “programmed” possibly due to comprehension. Did some checking and enquiries after and have my own views on this matter and the reasons. According to the Accor guidelines on room upgrade to next room type, that would be the room with Dodo Lounge access (same size), otherwise it would be the larger type. Room was quite spacious (slightly larger than other Ibis Styles) for this tier level, clean and comfortable and other than the a/c needs a bit of fiddling to get the temperature right, everything works satisfactorily as expected of a hotel of a few years old: a cracked floor tile in the toilet being a small blemish. A/C was very quiet which is a bliss. Being on a high floor there were no issues with water pressure, with a panoramic view of the Hangang from the full-sized windows. Breakfast venue is two floors up in the connection joining the two towers, spacious and with various seating arrangements, views to the Hangang one side and the hills and Seoul Tower on the opposite side. Along the length there is a glass floor on one side where one looks 30 floors down to the ground and parallel to this, separated by seating is a shallow pool. Food is average, though the spread is quite large is the same daily, with exception of a couple of selection alternating between days. The coffee is nothing to write home about and we sort of didn’t bother to have it after the second day. But if you order the coffee at the A La Maison Deli in the foyer, it is good.

The coffee is nothing to write home about and we sort of didn’t bother to have it after the second day. But if you order the coffee at the A La Maison Deli in the foyer, it is good. Staff are quite friendly and happy to assist but at times trying to get a response to a query can be a little trying. Public transportation is convenient at the Yongsan Station, connected via a 300m elevated and covered walkway. Around the station and above there are shopping, food and other places of interest, no shortage of choice. The main drawback coming from the airport there is no airport limousine bus service that come close to the hotel; the nearest is the service 6001 which stops at the Sinyongsan station/post office, where it is about a kilometer trudge to the hotel. Alternately, if one travels light the option will be the AREX to Seoul Station, then change to Line 1 for the two stops to Yongsan Station. This information I found out myself by piecing together the bits and pieces as I could not get a direct and clear answer from the hotel when contacted on two or three occasions before arrival; the answer was taxi, private car transfer or book a hotel limousine. The hotel locality has its plusses. There is the Yongsan Electronics Center opposite, The I-Park Mall complex at Yongsan station, with shopping outlets, restaurants and food court, Shinsigae Duty Free, E-Mart, etc. Venture south across the Hangang on subway Line 1 from Yongsan station, the next stop is Norangjin where one can visit the wholesale seafood market. Heading towards the north two stops from Yongsan station is the busy Seoul Station, with the Lotte Outlet and Lotte Mart (be warned, very crowded, and also closed every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month). Stay on the train and the next stop is City Hall, also the interchange where one can transfer to Line 2 for a one stop ride to Eujiro Il-ga (one), the entry to the Myeongdong area, Lotte Hotel, Dept store and the Avenue, and a little further on the Shinsigae main store. Carrying on Line 1 from here, the next station is Jonggak for access to the Insadong area. There is a casino (Seven Luck) in the complex for foreigners, and if one is fine with the inconvenience of no direct airport limousine bus to the hotel, or travel sufficiently light to use the train via Seoul station (which incidentally have conveyor belt to assist with your bags going up and down the stairs along the quite long walk), this is quite a good choice, especially at times when the rates are low (not often).

Great bargain. We stayed here over Lunar New Year weekend and were surprised at a host of things from the cleanliness and view to location and staff. You don't need a more expensive place -- this will do. We plan on staying again if possible and I highly recommend this place.
