« Nice hotel, but with some opportunities for improvement. »

We had a fantastic welcome to the hotel on Thursday evening. The young lady at the front desk was very pleasant, and from that initial experience we were pleased to have chosen to stay at this hotel. We chose to go for the Premier package; however we were not very impressed with what was offered for the extra amount that was charged; I wouldn’t go with this option again if I were to stay at this hotel. Suggestion for the Accessible Rooms: For obvious reasons, I understand that the furniture in these rooms is kept to a minimum. Could the hotel consider bringing in ‘temporary furniture’ when such rooms have been allocated to people who may not require the accessibility features? There was nowhere to hang things in the bathroom, and nowhere to keep our toiletries in the shower space except on the floor. A small table next to the sink, which could be removed at the end of our stay, would have made the room more comfortable. We elected to have breakfast in the hotel on our first morning there (Friday). Although we were promptly seated, the overall breakfast experience was chaotic. Also when we arrived to breakfast we discovered that some of the hot food had run out and there were no plans to replenish (sausages and scrambled eggs). The lovely feeling that we had on Thursday evening evaporated very quickly following a phone conversation with one of the front desk agents on Friday afternoon. He made us feel very uncomfortable by the way he spoke to us when we made a request; and when we came down to the desk and raised our concerns with him, his body language was very dismissive and unapologetic. Also on Friday afternoon, the fire alarm went off in our room. We were scrambling furiously to evacuate the premises (as you do when you hear an alarm). When we came down to the lobby and asked about the alarm we were told that it was only a test. I applaud the hotel for testing the fire alarms periodically; however it would be good to inform the guests, either with a sign at the front desk or a pre-recorded message before the alarm so that we are aware. The front desk supervisor that was on duty on Sunday morning was very efficient and accommodating. She was happy to adjust our bill to exclude the breakfast charge from Friday, and also agreed to a late check out. Coincidentally the young lady who welcomed us on our first evening in Edinburgh was also at the desk when we were checking out as well. So our check-out experience was good. Overall the hotel was clean and most of the staff were friendly; it is conveniently located near a grocery store and nice eateries too. It is a pleasant walk in to the city centre, about 10-15 minute walk, which was great for us. Other than a few opportunities we had a good stay at this hotel. We would like to return to visit the city sometime soon, and will be happy to stay here again if they'll have us :).

« Clean room, facilities not so good  »

Room was clean and made up correctly, disappointed with the lack of facilities i.e. No onsite restaurant, no soft drinks on draught, having to remind staff every time that the room for booked and paid for 3 people not 2. Reception staff doubling as bar staff but didn't really know what they were doing.

« Dishonest  »

I stayed with you. I was looking forward to staying with you as you are the hotels we use at work and normally have a brilliant service. We checked in and that afternoon we left the room with they key in the air conditioning as I have a medical condition that is effected by heat. Your staff were told that the card would remain in the unit. We went and had out wedding fitting and on return went to the room and saw the card had been removed and our belongings had been searched through. On making a complaint we were told there was no way of finding out who has been into the room which I know is rubbish. Anyway the issue was resolved and we were told that there would be a refund due to the lack of our satisfaction and the upset caused. 2 weeks later there was still no refund and my card company have said there has been no refunds attempted. Seems to be more dishonesty and lies. Please can you confirm if the refund is going to be processed as promised. Kind regards Mr Weston

« Happy  »

Satisfied with my stay. Nice hospitality, comfortable rooms & great location. Only problem is that they don't give you Accor membership benefits if you book them through the travel sites. You need to book them directly only.

Friendly staff, asked for a room change which wasn't a problem to staff. Very clean and central location for exploring Edinburgh. Breakfast was worth paying for, very good indeed.

« Great stay with very helpful staff »

We were very pleased with our stay and your staff was superb, very friendly and very helpful. One young man a Mr Wojuech (or WO Juech) was exceedingly helpful and it is staff like this that makes us customers of the Accor brands.

« Nice and clean  »

A short walk from the main attractions in Edinburgh. Nice staff that were really helpful. Ok breakfast although a bit expensive. Small but ok gym. The shower was the only problem since the shower hose was strangely attached.

« Basic hotel lacking in charm which typifies many UK hotels. »

Satisfactory for business traveller but not for tourist. Problems with plumping with noisy water pipes and erratic water temperature. Staff pleasant and helpful.Location is a bit out of the way for tourists to sightsee.

« Probably wouldn't stay again »

Rooms were comfortable & nicely decorated but what I didn't realise was there is no restaurant for lunch or evening meals. The room service menu is limited to just pizza or panini's and levied a £5 tray fee - which I would expect them to waive as there's no restaurant facilities. I stayed in a room on the lower2 floor which was very dark & only had a small window with no view at all. The lounge area where breakfast was serviced is quite small compared with other hotels I've stayed in & on the morning I did have breakfast 2 large coach parties were there taking up the whole restaurant with luggage piled up in reception with little room to move. That said the staff were friendly & helpful.
