Extremely disappointed. We were confronted with party noise on both nights. After not being able to sleep the first night and the fact this occurred again the second night, we consider the reaction of staff was not adequate and below any standard.

« My worst hotel stay »

I booked 1 room for 6 nights at the Novotel and 2 rooms for 6 nights at the IBIS. I booked the IBIS as we wanted 2 additional rooms that were more affordable. When we arrived we found out that we have the same hotel with exactly the same rooms. I paid much more for my reservation expecting better standards. Besides the above there were other issues that i just do not expect from Novotel - the safe did not work and reception did not attend to this. No shower caps were provided and again reception could not help. The rooms were never cleaned despite asking several times. Having stayed there for a 6 day period on a beach holiday the floors became really dirty and soiled. The breakfast served was a continental breakfast and i expected a full breakfast. They had a nestle coffee machine which was problematic most of the time.

I went to the hotel by carnival season. The room that I was it was on the same level with my brother and family. In the middle of the night when I came after carnival the room was with no light. I went to the reception and the guy told me he already knows the room was with no light but he waited me to go to the room to see and he doesn’t know what happened. He changed to other room and nobody come with lights to help me pack my stuffs!!! I was there with just light by my cellphone. When I went to the reception in the next day the receptionist she doesn’t care at all!! She didn’t say sorry or nothing she just said she will pass this to her supervision and this never happened! Terrible staffs!!! The refrigerator was very surty! It was a such terrible experience.. the hotel is beautiful but needs to improve a lot!

Reception was helpful but reminder service is terrible. Since their English is very poor, one day they waked me up one hour early, departure date not at all... Dinner at the restaurant was horrible: the hamburger almost raw..

« A great experience »

Well, firstly I must say I was lucky because I had actually booked Ibis Porto Atlântico, but was placed at Novotel, which is clearly of a higher standard. Everything was fine, but if I could improve something I'd suggest the following: as some guests may not master Portuguese, it would be nice if at least some of the staff members could speak English. Besides, the cable tv could provide CNN/BBC channels, to keep pleasing the foreigners, who surely don't like to be apart from the world news, yet nowadays we can easily reach it on our smartphones. Last but not least, the vegetable garden did not seem to be as well-kept as it was supposed to be.

« a little disappointed »

1. I paid and checked-in through Internet. On the reception they didn't know how long I will stay. Тhey did not know I had already paid and had to do some additional check in the office. When I left, I was again asked to pay !? 2. There was a problem with the Internet - incorrect user or password. I was given a visitor account. 3. No price list at the bar - I doubt the price I paid there a little. The staff did not know English.

« Car access and parking really bad »

The access by car to this hotel is horrible. If another car has arrived and not yet been taken away by the company which handles the garage, there is virtually no place to stop. The very limited area is for both Novotel and IBIS. Also the fact that garage handling is by a third party makes life difficult at this hotel. With so bad car access facilities to this hotel, the hotel should definitely compensate by handling all the car-parking and make it free of cost. The two men in front of the hotel have no real activity, 24 hours a day. Change this having them to handle the cars, swiftly. Get rid of the expensive car parking company.

« Not great location, but a good hotel »

The room was really good, new and with a good size. The breakfast was good but we were lost in the food as there was no description in most of them. The staff was friendly but we felt uncomfortable every time we went to reception, as they would pick up the telephone for whatever reason it rings and stay as long as it needs, which makes you have to wait until the call is finished before the staff at reception continues with you.

« The noise around the hotel is not tolerable »

The hours that the pool is open is too little. The pool should be open until later in the day. The food at the hotel is pricy but not very good. Multiple times I had the sign do not disturb on my door and the hotel staff still knocked on my door or entered my room. Breakfast hours are from 6am but they are rarely ready for breakfast at 6am and most staff hides away during breakfast service so you cannot even get a chance to ask for coffee!! very poor
