The staff was helpful and caring, but in the toilette the was running and we claimed it , the plumber was there due to staff information but it was not fixed. I claimed it every day and after 3 days when we left it still was not fixed. Water is precious and it should not run constantly 3 days.

« Very welcoming staff, clear instructions, my room was extremely comfortable and clean. »

Reception staff were friendly and explained everything very clearly. My complimentary upgraded room was cool, had a lovely view and was very clean. The chairs were comfortable and I appreciated the sparkling water. The shower was fantastic and towels soft. It was lovely to put on the bathrobe and slippers, have a cuppa and enjoy the complimentary box of slices. Unfortunately I was woken early by other guests speaking very loudly in the hallway. I had just gone back to sleep when they returned half an hour later, still speaking (yelling) to each other. The coffee pod machine worked beautifully and the first cup of coffee was so delicious that I had another while I waited for my son. He was able to have breakfast with me in the restaurant and the food was terrific. Check out was quick and simple.

I was surprised on arrival to discover a grotty and gloomy entrance way to this fairly upscale hotel. It turned out that a large number of rooms are not for ordinary visitors but crammed with extra beds for long-term students. The decor and maintenance of rooms seems to suffer accordingly. While staff were unfailingly polite and helpful, the presence of mould in the shower cubicle, a running toilet (fixed the next day) and a light out in the ceiling suggests that there is work to be done by management and housekeeping.

We stayed for 4 nights as an intro to Melbourne. Overall it was impressive. The room, the location, the service, it met all our expectations except for the curtains which were missing 3-4 curtain hooks and required some creative use of the light stand to have the curtains do what they should. Yes, I could have asked for it to be fixed but the chance of it being done while we were there was minimal so did not worry.

Foyer appeared to be tucked away under a stairwell and not easily visible from entry. Smell in the hallway was nauseating - felt as if all cooking exhaust fans were directed to hallway. TV remote did not work and needed to be replaced. Notice outside meeting room spelt "Conference" as "CONEREFENCE" Companion had to ask for Weetbix at breakfast, both mornings

Few issues arose from the stay, minor glass shards on the carpet x3 which was remedied by the manager but the other could not be easily fixed. The blackout blinds weren't closing properly so despite if I pulled from one end to cover the sun at the edge, the middle is left open and vice versa. The soundproofing of the rooms need to be improved as you can constantly hear the next room slamming their doors shut. The staff were very friendly and tried to help but I guess I wasn't used to them not sending bags up to the rooms when its dropped off early as seen is many other hotels.

The location was perfect, the staff were friendly, the breakfast was delicious but the housekeeping was a little lacking. The room felt like it could be cleaner, my curtains were falling down so I found it hard to sleep and the bed was poorly made on the days when the linen wasn't changed.

Disappointed of the time frame that we could access our complimentary drink, as we arrived later than planned due to plane delays resulting in us not being able to have this offer. Also I don’t like the fact the I had to pay parking. It was quite a lot of money that had not been budgeted for and it should be absorbed by the hotel as a service to its customers. Last time we came to Melbourne we stayed at the other Mercure not very far from where you are, in fact we thought that we had rebooked into the same place. In the future I will ensure that I stay there as we had a much better experience.

We found our room well appointed and pleasant. The breakfasts were adequate but not the variety of other Mecure hotels. We found it disappointing that there was not a restaurant available for other meals. We had room service meals once but the food was not good and was lukewarm. It was disappointing that there was not a gym or swimming pool for a hotel that was listed as 4 star. But the position suited us with trams close by. We would not, however, book this hotel again as we have had better experiences in other Accor hotels in Melbourne.

Great at reception and dining room but getting out of carpark was a nightmare. Took 25 minutes and still could not process card and discount so in the end gate was lifted manually for us and for the 5 cars waiting behind us.
