On arrival I was asked for my credit card. After a few moments I was presented with a credit card receipt for €400. This was a fait accomplis - I was not advised in advance that your hotel takes €50 per person per day. I work in the aviation business for 25 years and I normally stay 80+ hotel nights in a year. Never before has a hotel receptionist displayed such bad manners by not advising in advance. As a result this episode cast a shadow over our stay at the hotel. So, I made sure I did not spend one euro in your hotel during our vacation. Nor will I stay at your hotel again. Incidentally that €400 is blocked on my account, one week after I departed your hotel.

The hotel offers many amenity extras that when comparing to low cost or budget hotels - Hotel L'Echiquier Opera ends up better priced (ie, free coffee and mini bar, bath toiletries, welcome package..et). I can not remember everyone's name, however the entire staff gave fantastic service with a smile! Special thanks to Virginia for her warm welcome into the hotel and each day after!! Matthew Pierre Assoud Michael Lynn and Arnould - thank you for going above and beyond to ensure my stay was the most memorable I've had from all in Paris (approx 10x). Thank you Hotel L'Echiqueir Opera Paris McGallery by Sofitel! ...I will return return to your property next time I am in Paris again.

Excellent boutique hotel. The room had a sit out balcony with a bistro table to enjoy your nightly wine. The toom was cozy and fresh. The toiletries provided were top notch. This is a hotel that is affordable for all the travelers that want quality. The staff were friendly. The bar lounge was intimate, lavishly complemented, and the morning breakfast was superb.

I spent 14 nights during my last stay. I really like the people in the breakfast room, I'm frustrated with the front even though at the end there was a good solution proposed by Constance, I'm really not happy with the room service. Front Desk: A week or so before my stay I sent a note saying that my family was going to join me during my stay for 7 nights and I asked if an upgrade based on my status was possible. I received a very reasonable answer that it would depend on availability and it was noted in my file. And then nothing, no more communication. When I arrived I was told that there was no possibility because everything was so booked in Paris. I would have appreciated to get a notice prior to my arrival. Anyway since I arrived 3 days before my family I was told that "we will look for a solution". No message, nothing, and I reserved a room at the Mercure nearby, there was no availability issue there... I sent several emails and got some sporadic answers. Looks like Constance was the only one responsive, I didn't expect her to be available 24/7, so, of course, there was some delay in the answers. At the end, as I said, she proposed a very nice solution for the last 4 nights my family was there. Overall, there is a communication issue. My profile shows my phone number and my email, not difficult to get hold of me. Another thing that bothered me, is this "advance online check out" thing. The first 10 nights were reserved by my company on a corporate credit card, but I was charged on my personal credit card, the one in my profile, for the full amount of the stay (2430€) the day before I arrived. Then we worked it out when I checked out at the front desk to get my personal credit card recredited and charge on my corporate one, but beside the fact that it took 3 tries and some time to recredit my card, my credit card statement shows a balance of about $62 ($3031.86 debited, $2969.81 credited) because, of course, the exchange rate changed in 12 days... I guess the solution is to remove my personal credit card from my profile, which of course will be create some pain when I travel for fun. Room service: Every other day things are not being refilled in the fridge, which, as a Platinum member I expect and usually get in other hotels. I need to know if L'Echiquier has another policy. And that happened even after I complained to the front desk. One day I even found an open bag of chips on my desk. I'm supposed to spend 60+ nights or so in Paris this year (already spent 19 at the Echiquier since January I think), I was hoping I found my second home, but I do not feel very welcome.

Room was small, but clean and quiet. Breakfast on weekend good, ob weekdays average. I am still missing the points on my Accor account!! All postcards which I left at the front desk never arrived. Did they drop them in the trash??

« An Enjoyable Family Short Break »

The hotel is situated in the middle of Paris, an easy downhill walk from the Gard du Nord. Amazingly, it's in a very quiet area and we were able to sleep with the windows open without any noise at all. The hotel is in very good condition and very smart, the rooms (we had two junior suites) were pleasant with very good sleep quality (bed & bedding very comfortable) and really nice bathroom. The best aspect though was that all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful ! We would certainly stay there again.

I felt welcome during my stay in the hotel and the location is good. Staff are helpful except it was marred by a small incident of incorrectly debiting my credit card after I checked out. However, it was resolved after a couple of emails.

We stayed for 4 nights over Easter weekend. It happened that my daughter also had a birthday while we were there and the hotel arranged a wonderful surprise for her at breakfast. A personal big thank you to Virginie who took care of all the lovely details and even gave my daughter a little present!! Can't praise her highly enough for all the thoughtful details and balloons. ]My daughter (and myself!!) are extremely grateful for the effort! Chocolate fountain was a big hit on Easter Sunday with all the kids and adults alike. Overall, excellent hotel, easy to commute location, and good restaurant recommendations from staff.

This was a delightful stay in Paris that we loved. The room was perfect and the staff was very helpful. We're so grateful they spoke excellent English because we struggled with our French. Friendly and helpful staff - who made some good recommendations for local restaurants. The hotel itself is in a good central location. Nice rooms, though being an older property they are on the small side - but that's common with a city centre hotel of this type.

« A wonderful place to celebrate in a character Paris hotel, made memorable by the welcoming and attentive staff »

I booked the hotel to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. I cannot thank the concierge and the receptionist enough for the efforts they went to in making us feel welcome and looked after during our stay. From arranging the airport taxi and decorating the room to giving directions and helping with departure flight check in, we were made to feel special throughout our stay. We were offered a room upgrade and then accommodated an extra night in the same room (at full rate) following the cancellation of our flight, smoothing over a stressful situation, enabling us to enjoy Paris another night!
