Ibis Copacabana Posto 5 is very well located, a very good value for the quality of rooms, cleanliness and overall service. Good but basic breakfast. The staff is very friendly, what really helps you during your stay.

« Nice staff, dusty room »

The staff at the hotel was nice and supportive, no issues there. Breakfast was OK, but just OK. The problem you have is room cleaning, because my room was dusty as hell (under my bed was even more terrible!) and nobody cleaned it properly during my 10-days stay, even though I asked for it. Cleaning staff should use vacuum cleaners, and not old-fashioned brooms. The bed linen also needs a review, because none of it gets properly hold under the mattress, it seems that the linen are for a different bed-size.

Let me star by saying it's easy to overlook the role of housekeepers in hotels so allow me to say "Well done" to the house keeping staff at Ibis Copacabana 5. My room was cleaned everyday, towels and bed sheets replenished and the floors swept clean. Thanks very much to them. The front staff was equally impressive- the check in was quick (thanks Marcus) and the ladies who were on duty. Anderson was ever ready to assist and the team helped me to book my Cristo Redentor tour with no hassles. My booking was inclusive of breakfast and when I realized this was not reflected on the breakfast sign in sheet, I talked to a manager (forgot his name). He got it fixed within 5 minutes! What efficiency! Breakfast was good (Brazilian food is tasty to be honest), fruit juice was squeezed there fresh and I also loved the fruits everyday especially the mango! This was my first time at an Ibis hotel and I have become an Ibis guest wherever I travel. Muita Obrigado, Thank you very much for a great stay and I look forward to my next stay at an Ibis holiday.

The hotel is fine, the staff responds quickly when called. I had only one issue with the bed linen. When I went to sleep in the first night, there was no bed linen under the duvet, just a duvet cover over the mattress, as if it was a bed sheet. In the other nights the staff arranged proper bed sheets, but they were too short, and every morning I would wake up with my skin rubbing the mattress because the bed sheet would frown into the center of the bed as I moved during my sleep.

Very good hotel. Clean, good value. I think the breakfast in overvalued, it could be less expensive. The service was very good, The cleanliness in general, and the most important the excellent location, nearby the metro station and other public transportation.

« Lots of things went wrong. »

Lots of things went wrong with my stay. The first morning, I woke up and there was no hot water. I tried calling reception, but they couldn't hear me, so they just hung up. So, I had to go downstairs to talk to them. They gave me a key to another room on another floor so I could take a shower. I went to the elevator, and the key didn't work. They showed me to another elevator, the key worked, and I went up and took a shower. When I gor back to my room, my room key was no longer working. I went back downstairs. The receptionist came back up with me to check that the key was indeed not working. (Actually, it was the card reader on the door that wasn't working.) She told me to wait 2 minutes while she brought up a computer to reset the card reader. I waited 15 minutes. I went back downstairs. I waited while she sorted out the computer and we went back upstairs together. It took about 10 minutes to fix it. I missed the first talk of the conference I was attending. They were meant to fix the water, the door, and the phone that day. I don't know if they fixed the water and the phone, but when I got back to my room that night, at 1 a.m., the door was again not working, so I again had to go downstairs, and this time they gave me a new room. I got ready for bed in the new room, and after about 15 minutes they had managed to unlock my original room so I could transfer my things over. The ladies were efficient enough about solving the problems, but I never once got an apology. They only seemed as frustrated as I was. They did give me a few extras I asked for, like a free breakfast, a bottle of water, and a late check-out, but all in all it was very frustrating! Especially since I was very tired, having just flown in from Canada.

Check in was frustrating because I booked a room for 3 adults online through a 3rd party site. When I arrived they told me the 3rd person had to be a child but there were three adults in our group. I had to upgrade merely because the 3rd person was an adult instead of a child and pay more. The website should not have allowed me to select 3 adults and book a room online if the hotel wanted the 3rd person to be a child, which is ridiculous anyway. It should not cost more to sleep 3 adults in a room than it costs for 2 adults and a child to sleep in a room, bottom line. 3 people is 3 people. So after having to pay more, stay was ok. Toilet had a leak in the bathroom that flooded the bathroom overnight but the staff cleaned it up right away.

I went to look at the booking website if there was the information contrary to what I'm talking about and on the website it is written that it is a double room (two people) and extra bed for child. The people who works at the hotel were very kind and helpful. The room was good and clean, but we think it will be better to add a coffe maker or kettle to make hot water. The breakfast was very good and it has a variety of food.

I was given an early checkup min which was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel was very clean and up to date. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The only thing I could think that I wasn’t completely satisfied with was the bed and pillows. I would give them a 8/10
