« Easy, comfortable and warm  »

Nice break on our journey. A comfortable bed with a good size room. A good breakfast to see us on our way.

« Comfortable, clean, warm and pleasant »

I spend only a night.. It was very cold in Canberra but the room had a heater that worked very well. The breakfast was very good! I would love to come back in a warmer season and enjoy the other facilities such as the swimming pool and the tennis court.

« Great setting. Few little issues. »

Good experience, although the room was a bit smelly and the shower just would not heat up in the morning.

« Worse than expected »

Carpet stained, dusty and the bathroom is not cleaned. Buffet breakfast at the hotel, and been waiting half an hour, empty hot food tray not refilled.

« My stay met my expectations »

The hotel was comfortable and there was no delay with checking in or out. The food was of reasonable quality and variety and the whole stay presented good value for money.

« Nice getaway, Need more improvement. »

It's a nice getaway from the city. However the hotel room and facility should do with more improvement. More brighter room and better in room facility. Location is a bit away from the city, but price is great. Thanks.

Staff were extremely friendly, bed comfortable room clean. Only criticism would be could hear water being turned on and off all night assumed it came from adjacent room, which made it very difficult to sleep.

« Hopeless »

Got there early, about 11.30am. Told room not ready come back at 2pm. Came back then and room still not ready, moved rooms. Good start. Then hot water ran out, not enough toiletries for 5people, room not cleaned everyday only beds made. Food and drink ridiculously priced and most of the facilities listed on booking.com not even there!!! Hopeless 😡😡😡

« Being served rancid food, strong urine smell in our bathroom, grumpy chef at breakfast who I kept having to ask to restock buffet as it continually ran out of items ... pretty awful actually. »

We arrived in our bedroom to be greeted with a very strong urine smell in the bathroom. The attention to cleaning detail was poor - there was grime around the taps and a big gap of chipped off tiles on the bathroom wall. Just not a good impression whatsoever. Dinner later was a disaster : my husband ordered crumbed lamb cutlets and they arrived at the table completely and totally rancid. I fail to understand how these were even plated and bought out to us - the smell of being rancid was extremely strong. To be 100% sure, my poor husband attempted a small taste but spat it out immediately. He said it tasted sour, rancid and completely off. Yes, it was removed from our bill and we were offered free dessert (we declined the offer) but the damage was done. The chef never came out - we dealt with the lady waitperson who was lovely and tried very hard to appease us and apologise. She said that she had reported the matter to the chef but he was adamant that the product was fresh and the delivery recent. Are you kidding me ? She apologised on his behalf but no apology from the chef. According to her, he felt the meal was absolutely fine. Perhaps he should have tasted it then ?? I guarantee he would have ended up in hospital with violent food poisoning. How could he even suggest it was fine when it was so apparent (revolting smell) it was completely rancid ? Then to the buffet breakfast the following morning : we approached this nervously considering it was food out of the same kitchen. It was all extremely average and continually the serving dishes became empty. Refilling the items was very, very slow. I dont think many people would have waited around for something they may have really wanted because it was so slow to come out. Maybe this is the strategy ?? On one occasion the chef came out to refill tomatoes, and I asked if he could refill pancakes, pastries, mushrooms, bread for toast etc. - there was absolutely no attitude of service. I was given a grunt of acknowledgement and a turned back. And a further long wait even though I had requested replenishment. It was not a good experience and we will never go back. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone.

« Very disappointing. NONE of your staff smile and your restaurant is appalling.  »

Maddie is extremely rude & needs to be pulled into line. I had a 3 year old by my side, & a 1 year old child in my arms when I checked in. I did not realise that the carpet at reception was a VIP area & that I needed to stand in it to be given my key & map.. Maddie could see that I had my hands full, but still proceeded to place my key & map on the bench, in the area that was carpeted... she could not make eye contact with me & could not reach her hand that little bit further to give my key etc to me rather than make me stretch to get it.. it was an inconsiderate & extremely disrespectful attempt to tell me (with out a word) that "you need to stand here for me to serve you!" Fabulous spectacular service for your companies "first port of call!" My mother & aunt (who were also staying with me) had proceeded to take my 3 year old into the restaurant... we had driven all the way from rural Victoria, set up a stall at Handmade Canberra & then came straight to you needing to get the children fed & into bed. We were all exhausted & hungry. We then asked if the restaurant was open for dinner & were told "there will be a wait".. so we waited, in a half dark restaurant, with not a single staff member that came to explain to us that "sorry we're not open yet, or sorry there are no staff members on.. or nothing!" No drink offered, no menus to peruse..just left, in the dark.. with 2 screaming children... for at least 25 minutes!! It was about 6:30pm by now.. I wonder what time dinner is served at Ibis?? I then decided to go back to Maddie & ask what time the restaurant was open.. Maddie said.. "I will come & take your order now!" even though we had seen no menus! So we now have ordered.. We ordered bread for the kids to start with.. to quiet them down, as others were now starting to come into the restaurant as well.. We also ordered, 2x the salmon with roasted cherry tomatoes & asparagus, with mash & veggies.. & 2 bowls of vegetables for the kids, & my aunt who is vegetarian. May I have an email address to send you pictures of the disgraceful meals we were presented with! Our salmon.. both completely different sizes.. 1 was extremely small, & totally overcooked, the second was about 3 times the size of the 1st piece, extremely overcooked as well.... BOTH were dumped on top of 2 completely different "blobs" of mashed potato that had clearly been thrown onto the centre of the plate & the salmon, popped on top of this.. the size of the potato matched the size of the salmon.. 1 about 1 tablespoon only.. the other.. 3 times that! Now.. from the what the menu stated.. it was meant to come with roasted cherry toms & asparagus.. we got none! We were served Salmon & mash... & that is it! No sauce.. nothing! I can not imagine the pride your chef has in his meals! Exceptional!!! After I had questioned the young man waiter (who now had mysteriously appeared) he (I cant remember his name sorry) was extremely apologetic clearly embarrassed at the disgrace of a meal that he had to serve to us. He mentioned he would go back& get the tomatoes & asparagus & would tell the chef we were unhappy. AFTER we had eaten what we could of the differing sized, dry disgusting salmons.. the poor waiter came out with our bread... AND a bowl filled with a few pieces of asparagus, & about 4 whole tomatoes that had been quartered & smothered with balsamic vinegar!! And the vegetables!! I have a picture of BLACK marks ALL over the grey cauliflower that was served to my 2 children & aunt.. How hard is it to 1: steam a bowl of vegetables & 2: cut off any dirty old bits of vegetable that COULD cause illness to a guest.. would a big hotel chain like for someone to get sick due to the laziness of the "chefs" that work for them? The male waiter only charged us for 1 Salmon & gave us the bread for free.. Disgusting.. but he did what he could. Our room was ok.. I have no complaints here. I do however STRONGLY suggest you CLEARLY number the ends of each block so that people can find where they are staying. I also recommend (& this is just a recommendation) that if a guest has very young children, placing them in rooms closer to the carparks would make life alot easier, rather than carrying kids, in the freezing cold, from warm cars into rooms. It is difficult enough bringing young children & these little things honestly make a big difference. Especially with all the bags & accessories you need to bring with kids. I think we made at least 8 trips to & from the car before we could even settle into our room. Breakfast is ok.. I would however make sure that your staff are onto what is low & let the chefs know so that people are not waiting for more bacon, or eggs etc. I would also make sure your staff are aware of what is dirty & what is clean in regards to plates. The plates that were piled up for people to use, were obviously not being cleaned properly in the dishwasher, & guests were grabbing a plate ≤aving it to the side as every second or third plate had dirty marks or baked beans that had not been washed properly on them.. Filthy & very lazy on the dish hands part! ON the Saturday night at approx 9:35pm, I needed to do some work on my laptop. I called reception to see if I could get a password that I knew you provided.. I was put on hold for 6 minutes before someone (and correct me if I am wrong, but I think it was Maddie again) finally answered!!. I was told that I could come down to reception & get a password, but other than that she couldn't help. I asked if she could read a password out over the phone & I was told no, sorry, I cant. So I was given the normal password of Spiderman 1 which didn't work.. I explained that I had 2 children (my 3year & was asleep &my 1year old was still awake) & my mum & aunt who were also asleep & that I really couldn't leave a 1 year old on her own, & I didnt want to bring her out in the cold..I was told that "if I get a chance I will try & bring one up to you, but I don't know when it will be, cause I am on my own" That was fair enough.. but being that she was on her own, I assumed, along her with fantastic customer service & love of making customers happy, that by the time she may have had time to bring it up, I would have been asleep, my 1 year old would have been asleep & her knocking on the door would most likely wake the room.. the following evening on my way home from handmade Canberra, I stopped at reception to get the passwords.. I was given a printed piece of paper that was kept underneath the counter, that perhaps Maddie could have just read out over the phone had she have "felt" like it! I have sent an email with the remainder of my comments as I am unable to post this as it says my text is too long (even though it also says I have 1239 characters left!)

« Up to normal resort standard »

The kettle need to ensure after boiled the water can drink. The kettle in my room, I boiled first round and throw it as normally what I do. However, I boiled the second time and pour out in the cups, can see a layer of substance flowing on top. Both my wife & I scan to use the kettle. Toilet need a bit clear, also not feeling fresh smell. I pull the head bedside for the power to re-charge my battery, find out there is a hole between the room and bathroom, just using paper to fill out the space, and somehow there is a wind blowing from the next room or outside into the room, at the end we need to turn on the heater for the whole night.

« Lovely resort style hotel in a tranquil and natural setting »

Check in was good, prompt and efficient however the receptionist in the afternoon could smile a little, even if we are scoopon guests. Our first room (183) was clean & presentable but had a few minor issues, the AC wasnt heating properly, the plumbing next door in (182) woke us up at 6.24am what sounded like a sledge hammer, the bed was uncomfotable, I woke up with aching lower back, hot water was luke warm at best and we did'nt have the cold water on, and the mugs were dirty. I emailed reservations my concerns that night. Next morning we asked reception if we could move room due to above issues and she was extremely helpful and moved us to a clean room (297) the heating was excellent, hot water was good, only niggly thing was, the AC was noisy, bed was comfortable. Breakfast first morning was busy, we had to clean and.clear our own table, ran out of milk and cups, waitress was friendly but she was trying to cope with influx of guests, understaffed for busy morning. Next day morning breakfast was an okay experience. Food was average, but satisfactory for the kids, pancakes tasted like maccas, coffee was terrible, percolated coffee probably tastes better. Check out was efficient and friendly. Overall stay was good. I probably stay there again with my parents around Spring because of the tranquil & natural setting.

Fine, particularly for the price. Mirror in room was broken and bed was a disaster (like sleeping on a ski slope) Room had old soap wrapper from previous tenants Cafe was very busy and ran out of juice, which was not replaced.

« Quiet location »

The location was easy to find and quiet. Staff were a bit disorganised and slow. The room was clean and the beds relatively comfortable. One heater didn't seem to work too well. Bar not well stocked, no Jim Beam available and limited change available from reception to play pool. There were 5 of us and only one chair in the room. We ended up getting some plastic chairs from the pool area and had to carry them quite a way uphill to our room. A small outdoor setting on the verandah would have been useful. The light/fan combo in the bathroom was irritating. You don't need a loud fan going when you are doing hair and makeup. Breakfast was awful, bacon too hard to chew and eggs cold and sloppy. Broken PowerPoint in room. It sounds a bit negative but we really didn't mind the place and would probably come back again. We only stayed one night, these things may have been more of an issue if we were staying longer.

« In need of repair/updating but suitable. »

The beds were comfortable and the room was good value for money. Our room was in obvious need of an update and looked very old. The toilet was very smelly and there was an odour in the room. The pillows were very flat and we needed two each to sleep comfortably. The awning outside our room was very rusted and needs replacing. Overall, the staff were very helpful and our room was suitable. The breakfast was very good.
