It was somewhat disappointing, we checked in, the air conditioner was always on and could not turn down. After the first day our keys did not work (as they were originally only set them for 1 day). The bed although large was uncomfortable and bunk beds unsafe. I guess you take into consideration some aspects for the price, however we wont be staying there again.

Reception staff for the first couple of days were a bit slow and had trouble understanding that we wanted two double beds in the room. Towards the end of the stay much much better!!

Relaxed stay for 2 nights in January. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the value was great. The units are showing their age but the bush surrounds make it a very Australian experience.

Good afternoon, I am writing about our current stay at Ibis Styles Eaglehawk Canberra. We booked in on the 15th January for a 12 night stay. We booked a family room. We had been looking forward to a decent holiday for nearly 3 years and booked with Ibis as we have stayed in various Ibis establishments regularly over the years and always found them to be clean, comfortable with lovely staff. My daughter travels regularly to Newcastle and stays in the Ibis in Hunter Street and also the Budget Ibis which are both clean and comfortable at all times. I’m afraid we didn’t have as good as an experience here. Our home away from home left us uncomfortable and frankly we were pleased when we finally left. If it wasn’t for paying up front, we would have left after day one. The problems we experienced were as follows:- 1. On arrival to our room, we were shocked at the uncleanliness of the room. We understand that the resort isn’t modern and state of the art…. But when you have to pick up apple cores, butter wrappers, mouldy bathroom etc it wasn’t a good start. 2. We thought we would head down to the advertised games room for a game of pool (which was also a draw card to the facility) to find the table was out of order. We were told that we could give it a go if we like, sometimes it works. So we thought we would while the worker was present, only to lose my money and all the worker did was shrug his shoulders and say, well its been like that for months, the odds of it being fixed during your stay is next to none. 3. Back to our room and we had an air-conditioner that lost water like a waterfall, right next to my husbands CPAP machine, still a mouldy bathroom, unclean shower screens, a leak under the sink which wet EVERYTHING (clothes, towels etc etc), a toilet seat which was broken, toilet roll holder broken, mould on the tap in the kitchen, dirty floors, a shower head that leaked constantly and prevented you to sleep, the most horrendous smell from the pipes that we ended up boiling water and putting down the pipes in attempt to help with the smell etc. 4. We filled out a maintenance report which nothing was done to fix any issues we had. It took a storm (which I think was on the 24th January) which caused no water pressure to the room and unable to use the toilet or shower that my husband had had enough and went to see the receptionist. He wasn’t happy and demanded something be done. That day when we returned the room was the cleanest we had had it (actually smelt clean) and we had some issues fixed. (It took approx. 10 days and a very unhappy husband who had had enough to get anything done). 5. One of my daughters was very itchy and uncomfortable in bed. So we assumed the sheets would be changed and it would help, a couple of days later she was still very uncomfortable in bed so we asked the cleaners if they would please change the sheets. The reply was “Sheet change day is a Thursday, so we will change them then”, so excuse me, but we have a guest who is uncomfortable and itchy and you won’t change the sheets because it’s not “Sheet change day!”. We would also like to know if sheet change day meant that when we booked in, we didn’t have fresh sheets? Or did we have sheets from a previous guest? This could explain some stains I guess. I also left a note on the bed to ask for the sheets to be changed due to being itchy and uncomfortable (on the particular bed) and the note was screwed up and left near the TV. 6. Then we have the restaurant. We had a continental breakfast in our package. Frankly we are all happy with a bowl of cereal, piece of toast, cup of tea or juice. Half the time there was no juice left and no staff to ask, bread run out, benches filthy along with the cups and bowls which were disgusting. You had to sift through them to find a clean one. At one stage we had to tell the staff member that there wasn’t one clean bowl in the whole tray full. Another lady came up and said the same happened the day before. The floors were dirty and below the juice section was sticky and dirty (for the whole 12 days). The coffee machine looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ??? There were no spoons (had to chase up again and again). A couple of staff members in particular could hardly look at you, never smiled and were frankly rude. 7. Pizza night! A new addition to the Ibis on a Friday and Saturday night….. guess what. They had no toppings. We had cancelled a nice restaurant in Canberra as we thought we would have Pizza night around the pool with the kids to be told there is no chicken, meat, actually no toppings etc. The only pizza they could make was a cheese and tomato. Which I might add was terrible! They also had a very limited menu due to no stock. 8. Dinner on another occasion was a chicken burger which tomato, cheese, lettuce and mayo – what arrived was chicken and one small piece of greenery – nothing else! I enquired and received a shrug of the shoulders and mention that they will tell the chef. Hence to say we couldn’t eat there and had to head into Canberra each evening (a 20 min trip) to get something to eat. 9. Drinks…. A coke was ordered and arrived hot and flat. It was like it had been opened days before and left somewhere. Nothing was available due to the mixer being broken – so no lemonade etc. Hubby went to the bar for a beer and it wasn’t operating. I had a hot chocolate which looked like dirt from the inside of the machine, no milk and I tipped it down the sink. 10. Tennis courts… I had phoned Ibis before our trip to ask if I need to bring balls. The answer was no – they had balls and tennis rackets. I brought my own rackets – went down to get the balls and guess what – they didn’t bounce…. At all! Tried again another day and they said we only have two that might be ok. We played with them but had to hit the ball so hard we nearly threw out my shoulder just to get it over the net. We didn’t play again. Courts were also dirty and covered with leaves. 11. Laundry… Laundry was horrendously dirty, the floors were wet and dirty. Filled with flies. Two machines broke down. 12. I’m not sure what your policy was on having pets stay? But we were surprised to see a guest booking in with a dog! Also quite surprised to go for a swim in the pool to have said dog running around in the pool area and at one stage tried to attack my husband. I wonder where the dog slept? Is this hotel policy? I would like to add that there were a couple of nice staff members, particularly one in reception who helped me with an activity in Canberra, but the rest of the staff were rude, unhelpful and scarce. I’ve never had so many issues and the experience certainly ruined what was to be a relaxing, comfortable and happy family holiday. I spent half the holiday arguing with hubby who felt so uncomfortable he wanted to leave day after day.

This property is huge but well managed. Even though not in the CBD but Canberra is small enough for a drive to anywhere within a few minutes. The hotel is quiet and peaceful with the usual standard of the IBIS chain. The current promotion where for $1, you get breakfast for 1 person plus the cheap room rate is really great value! The reception friendly and professional. The breakfast set up clean and substantial with hot cooked meals, breakfast cereals, fruits, pastries etc. Nothing to fault with. The rooms are clean with all the facilities like hair dryer, iron/board, ammenities etc. It is a SOLID 3.5 star hotel but with a great price and great location!

We have stayed at Eaglehawk many times over many years and it has changed very little. Still has comfy rooms spread in groups up the tree'd hill. It is still good value and has very friendly staff. A bit of a home away from home.

We had a good time at our stay at Eaglehawk. Our forst room smelled of urine and the carpet was wet due tp recent rains. Customer service was great and they moved us two doors down from where we were. Floor was still wet but at least no urine smell. The beds were comfy and toilet/bathroom was clean. Staff were very kind in letting us use the Jolly Brewer for our nightly boardgames shenanigans with our kids. The pool was great, too. Overall not a bad place to stay for two nights.

My stayed on that night was perfect. Well everything else was there . But the breakfast was terrible. Bacon seems left over from a day before, roasted tomatoes were floating on water, scrambled eggs wasn't looking like which it has to be, literally the food was too bad. My girl friend was about to take a picture but I refused her to take it. As am been working in Accor kitchen for ages I know the quality of food, which I saw a very poor quality of knowledge on your chef there. And which was so quite breakfast. Unbelievable. Though there's always comments on everywhere even we did our best, but this is my first experience that Accor hotel's chefs are lack of food knowledge. Hope we can take them to another stage.

Wonderful- coming from Thredbo running week with two other families we just wanted to get our heads settled before we all went off home. Your big family rooms where a great surprise after such small living conditions in Thredbo. Breakfast with GF options was amazing. Staff happy, kind and also a treat after some differing staff experiences in other locations on our trip.

Arrived to an uncleaned bathroom and dirty overflowing rubbish bins. This was on the 10 Jan 18. Sportinggroupshad booked many rooms and the youths were noisy and playing music loudly on their blutooth speakers. Very disappointed in the lax standard and the best thing o did was get a refund and check out again.

Check in girls were fantastic, was great to get an upgrade! Room was very worn, bedroom door looked like it needed to be on a council cleanup! Spa didn't work but that was ok, I didn't pay for it. The girl at reception said it has been waiting to be repaired for quite a while. Was disappointed that housekeepers let themselves in whilst I was getting out of bed, despite calling out that I wasn't ready yet (it was 9am but I had arranged late checkout).

I traveled with family and found the Ibis Eaglehawk a convenient and comfortable place for a one-night stay. The lobby and attached cafe & restaurant are representative and lovely, the pool and outdoors setting gorgeous and welcome for chasing rabbits and a morning swim. The room was a bit old, but clean and serviceable none the less. The nearby Eaglehawk pub is an excellent added value with beer on tap and a selection of hotstone steaks.

It was good but I was taken back by the fact that there was no bar fridge in my room - I am used to having this as a stock standard part of any room when I travel to store milk, fruit, drinks etc. within. I had a broken ironing board and light out but these were rectified that same day which was most appreciated. Dusty under the bunks and some lollies from previous occupants but again was OK and nothing of any great concern. Reception was good, had a learner booking me in and she did struggle a tad but I am OK with that as everyone needs to start somewhere and she was very helpful. Pool was clean and the main thing was my kids like the place so its a tick from me :)
