« Nice stay in a great hotel, some improvements can be made »

The hotel itself is beautiful and the reception staff (and the concierge and the valet parking service) are helpful and kind. This is a 5star hotel and the bedroom and bath accomplished with that distinction. The breakfast is ok but in our opinion this service need more staff (one day we had to wait a "more than a bit" to get some items (bowls, glasses, and food). Also we have a little mess with the cleaning service but it was repaired by the direction in some ways. a recommended hotel.

We have just stayed in a couple of 5 Star hotels, with a lot of swank and swagger, but in terms of really delivering an excellent service level to their customers, Balthazar Hotel beat them hands down. Well done to all the staff.

« Great Experience - Spa and Hotel »

We stayed for the week end with a friend and loved the experience there. We had a SPA reservation and dinner at the hotel. The staff was really great, helpful and kind. We felt welcome in the hotel. The Spa was good, it would have been perfect if the rooms where we had our massage has a better soundproof system. We could hear what's been going on in the corridor all along the massage. The valet service was excellent and really useful ! Perfect and practical for a short stay !

Great but the lack of valet parking and the early closing of SPA wasn't expected, in addition the hotel was asked previously to accommodate us in a room with two beds and we got one instead.

A lovely room, with roof terrace, in a good central location. The spa is good and well managed but it was a pity that the sauna was 'hors service' during the three days of our stay. The roof terrace is great but could be improved by 1) installing a wifi extender and 2) quietening the extractor from the kitchen. Room service, although a limited menu, was excellent. Turn down service was a little inconsistent, both in terms of time and replacing towels, toiletries etc. Reception and concierge was always very good.

Room was fantastic. Very clean with good amenities Spa area lovely. Polite and helpful staff. Valet service took stress out of parking. Check in and check out very painless Bar man very helpful and professional. Restaurant was disappointing as the menu was mostly seafood and fish which I can't eat.

The lobby and floor hallways were quite nice but once in the rooms we were immediately confronted by dirty stained carpets and a weird smells that was similar to cat urine. Needless to say, we switched rooms only to find the same, except this time we encountered faulty electrical outlets and a warm fridge.

« Wonderful holiday »

My daughter and I spent 4 days in Rennes to explore the city and visit Mont St Michel. The service, room facilities and food at the Balthazar were above what we expected and made our stay truly memorable. We were also impressed with the reception and service at breakfast. Our warm welcome by Samira from reception made a very good first impression. Rennes is a lovely city with quaint historic buildings and pretty interesting shopping.

It was incredible, and that is not something I say easily. We booked a one night stay and arrived early on the Saturday morning. We weren't expecting to get the room until later and didn't even ask but Lorelei at the reception told us the room was ready. She was very helpful and friendly as were all the staff- especially the two men working the brunch who were very professional and nice. The room was very clean and the experience in the spa was so relaxing. We even had some cocktails at the bar and they were so nice! Overall, our one night stay really felt so relaxing and like we were in another world. The hotel is beautiful, but it really is the staff that make the experience so good.

« A good experience as always but this time we were not staying in the main hotel and this room was of a less good quality than normally. »

Staff were all excellent as usual, wonderful spa but little things took the shine off this visit this time. The room was not in the main hotel but was off to one side. The bathroom there was smaller, the curtains did not close properly because the rail was broken and so we had to improvise and find a safety-pin so that we could keep our curtains closed and maintain our privacy because the outside smokers garden was just below our room. Also, there was no hair conditioner given with the room this time and which I really needed. Finally, a small thing, our Ned was not turned down on the second night.
