On arrival we learnt that our booking for the 3 days witch was booked 4 weeks before we got there was reduced to 2 days as someone had already booked our room and it spoiled our holiday

The location of the hotel was good, apart from the noisy pub goers late at night! Breakfast was also a good selection for a continental breakfast. However the entrance (stairs and carpet) were off putting, along with the musty, dank smell. The room was clean and basic, if a little small, and there was no remote for the TV. The windows were filthy and we overlooked buildings, so rather disappointed. All the staff could not be faulted.

On the Wednesday evening approx 1am the fire alarm sounded resulting in majority of the hotel to be evacuated. Myself and numerous other guests went straight to reception expecting to see a member of staff to advise on what is happening and if we all had to evacuate. No member of staff to be found anywhere !! We had to search for a member of staff to only to be told my a police officer of what has happened. I think it is shocking that in the event of a fire alarm sounding you do not have safety officers trained in this situation to be at reception or walking the corridors to advise guests of what was happening and what to do. To only insult the situation upon speaking to reception the next morning they tried to play off the situation as 'What event last night'. The member of staff was very rude and we was insulted in her ignorance to not even apologise automatically to guests given the shocking mal practice in the event which happened but to play it off as if nothing happened. I do not trust staying at this hotel again if the staff are not even sufficiently trained in the event of a fire on what to do.

A wonderful sea view was supplied as requested, just perfect for everything we wanted. I particularly wanted to thank the night staff that assisted with the stolen key card and reassured us no one would have had access to our room before they reprogram the door code. Will definitely be staying here again.

arrived at hotel was a little concerned about exteria (shabby). anyway as soon as i walked in that all changed, greeted by a lovely lady on receception she couldnt have been more helpfull or polite.the hotel is very clean nicely decorated. continental breakfast (nice staff)very nice and plenty of choice,coffee and tea facilities very good. overall very nice place to stay and would stay again.thankyou

Hotel nice clean friendly staff ..fire alarm going off at midnight due to kids messing around ..staff that night unorganised and uninformative about what was happening and couldnt switch alarm off for a good 20+ minutes ...also didnt appreciate workmen outside cutting pavement slabs at 8am both mornings .

« A very satisfactory visit »

The hotel was very comfortable and is admirably situated, looking out onto the sea and North Pier. However, the hotel is obviously in need of some upgrading, which presumably it will receive after the roadworks outside are completed. The downsides were (i) the somewhat shambolic situation at breakfast, where supplies could not keep up with demand, and (ii) the frequent absence of staff at reception.
