I’ve copied below the review I left on Trip Advisor. In many respects this is an excellent hotel. We stayed at this hotel because we wanted to visit the Project Riese sites and it was perfect for this as it was only a half hour drive. Our room was a reasonable size and spotlessly clean. The ensuite had underfloor heating which was very nice. However, the mattress was dreadful. In fact we have been on holidays for more than six weeks and without question this was the worst mattress we have slept on. It was 5cm (2 inches thick) and it felt like it was just sponge rubber. It was so bad that I seriously thought about ranking the hotel as poor (after all a comfortable bed is important). However, as everything else was good I decided to go with average. The variety and quality of food at breakfast was very good. However, it was extremely crowded and the area the breakfast was served in not very well designed so everyone was bumping into one another getting food. This certainly detracted from the breakfast experience.

« Good value for money, but heating system needs improvement »

Staff at reception was very helpful and kind. Rooms were good, bathroom even better, but TV signal for German channels was not great. Heating was a nuisance, the AC system would not switch to heating from within the room so we had to call the reception desk to help us reset (?) the system every night. One could hear constant and strong wind noises from within the room - granted it had been some windy days. Breakfast and dinner were very good and the prices were fair.

Otherwise fairly good place is equipped with hermetically sealed windows which do not open. Room temperature set via A/C. The problem is, that the hotel management let you stay in a room where the A/C does not work. You find that in the middle of night when room temperature of 25° C wakes you up. I put full blame on hotel maintenance which failed to check functionality of A/C BEFORE they let the guest take the room. The experience wiped out any positive inputs.

I travel extensively so have stayed in countless hotels around the world. This hotel is a typical budget-level hotel with modern rooms & friendly staff. Level of cleanliness good. Only thing lacking in rooms is a drinks cooler/mini-fridge. Restaurant menu limited

The breakfast was bad. Soggy Bacon, strange looking scramble eggs, coffee of very low quality, tastless tomatos, and i can go on and on. please put some more effort.
