« The room wasn´t the ideal, but the breakfeast and the common areas are worth »

Unfortunately i had a bad experience with the hotel. First of all, I sent an e-mail telling that my sister would travel with me, and, the rate, would be, in thesis, the same (as the evidences that i have). When in Santiago they charged me an extra 135 dolars, for the same room, and didn´t answer my e-mail. I will adopt the legal actions in Brazil that protect the consumers in situations like that.

« Nice hotel in the heart of Santiago »

We had a night in Santiago before our flight to Patagonia and this was a comfortable and convenient place to stay. It was very helpful having the hotel arrange our driver for the airport who went out of his way to get us to the right place inside the airport. The breakfast buffet was great. We enjoyed cocktail drinks on the roof by the pool.

We decided to treat ourselves at the end of our 2 week Chilean holiday with a 5 night stay at Mercure Santiago. The room was very spacious, with all mod cons. Guest services were always polite & helpful. The breakfast buffet offered a nice selection of items. The gym & pool areas were also nice. I only didn't give the hotel 10/10 because of minor things like the hot food on offer for breakfast was luke-warm & wasn't the best offering. Also the lifts can be quite slow.

« Great stay with unfortunate transfer to the airport »

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights which were great but when we tried to get a transfer to the airport for our flight we were given horrible service. We tried to leave the hotel at 1:50 pm for a 3:50 flight which was leaving it a little close but google maps said the trip should be 17mins. The front desk staff suggested that we take the transfer provided by the hotel. We informed the driver that we were in a hurry and he said that not to worry as we had plenty of time. We then waited at the check in desk for 5 mins while he got together the things that he needed (card machine, keys, some sort of documents). When we finally went down to the car park he informed us that he needed to get petrol on the way, we again reminded him that we were in a hurry and asked if he could get petrol afterwards. He again said don't worry about it, you have plenty of time. As he lives there and taking people to the airport is his job we trusted him. Just as we were about to leave he tried to charge my card and then the machine wasn't dead so I had to go up to the reception desk with him again to get a cord to chage the machine and then make the payment which again took about 10 mins. On the way to the petrol station the driver kept checking the fuel level and the onboard computer it said that there was still over 400km left of fuel. Once we got to the petrol station the attendant accidentally overfilled the gas tank and the driver then started arguing with him about not wanting to pay the extra. We finally got to the airport at about 2:40 and instead of dropping us off at the departures doors he took us to the private parking area which again when you factor in parking and then walking all the way back to the doors this added another 10 mins to the trip. We finally arrived at the airport at 3:50 and by this time it was too late to check in our luggage as the cut off for the flight was at 3:45. We then put our luggage in storage at the airport and then got our friend who lives in Santiago to pick up the luggage and send it to us at a cost of £380. I find it very disappointing that we are now out of pocket almost £400 for taking the Mercure shuttle which took almost an hour instead of a normal taxi which would've been 20mins at the most.

We stayed in this hotel twice during our last trip to South America. We like the hotel as it is within walking distance to the old centre of town and opposite the national library. The staff at the reception was friendly and helpful.

The first slightly annoying thing was that we Booked two hotel room which were both charger to my credit card the morning of our arrival. It would have been nice to have them charger to seperate credit cards on checkin like every other hotel on our month long trip. Checkin Staff could not find our booking on arrival as both rooms had been input under the second room name and not my name. This must be an issues with how you use your third party ‘booking.com’ as the account is under my name and the booking reservation show both names. Rooms are nice and confitable however, the shower temperature is very inconsistent and goes from cold to scoldering and our toilet had a small leek. We also had a horrible loud droning noise on the other side of the wall that work us up on one of the mornings. We also did not appreciate the mini bar visits at 8am. Called for room service our first night around 11pm and no one answered the phone. Breakfast buffet was disappointed, we did not even bother going down on our third morning. Pool area was nice but we were dissapinted that there were no pool towels (except the 5 on the used deck chairs) ( would have liked access to more deck chairs) and there was no bar staff midday on a Sunday to order drinks from or a phone to call for service. Also I noticed a lot of hair floating in the pool. The Bar staff Sunday night were friendly but had many issues filling our drink order (they had to call down for a bottle of wine and the first bottle that was brought up was an open bottle, second bottle that was brought up was the wrong grape variety but we were happy to go with it. They did not have several of the cocktail option, the one we selected eventually came out warm as it had not been made with any ice). Over all the staff were friendly and the hotel facilities were clean.
