The english spoken by the front desk very poor.. after 2 attempts to book airport transfer from the concierge desk to beijing i had to revert to using the CTrip app... which worked perfectly.

Check in was a laborious process, check out was even worse. No smiles from staff. No acknowledgement that we were waiting in her queue. All we got was “我在开发票” or similar. We left the key and walked out. I’m a guy. My partner is a guy. It was awkward when at check in, the man said to us “you ordered a double bed. You don’t want two singles? (no). You’ll both stay in the room? (Yes). Then when we got to the room there was a child’s bed made up, and a child’s toothbrush stuck to the mirror. I just rolled my eyes and thought wow, Accor.

« Accor standard is no longer there. Disappointing stay. »

I always stay in this particular Accor hotel even though I would have chosen SOFITEL or Novotel. The only two reasons I stay at Grand Mercure is it is very close to my parents’ place in Beijing. The other is it has a few nice Beijing staff who always makes me feel at home. This time however, everything has changed. The staff I am familiar with have almost all left. (Red flag). The breakfast is really motel standard with staff member can’t understand English at all. My room was smelling like someone just chainsmoked there. Laundry was not done in time..... the best part of my stay there are the two gentlemen who work at the concierge. Excecutive Lounge only opened last night when I was there. Food is mediocre- didn’t try. I will switch to other Accor Hotels next time when I am in town. The hotel is running down to say the least.

« Cleanliness and air conditioner to be improved »

The hotel doesn’t look old but the rooms are not well maintained as parts are pretty worn out. The bathroom seal, box for amenities and carpentry were dusty and peeling off badly. Bath area are heavily stained and not cleaned properly. Air conditioning was definitely not working and room was stuffy throughout the nights. Requested to change room but other rooms had the same issue. In the end, one portable cooler was placed for cooling but we had to bear with loud noise for nights. The only plus point would be it’s walking distance to the nearest train station which took about 10 minutes.

Rooms and all environments are very clean and comfortable. For an international hotel I would have expected better language skills through all the staff. Extending the stay for 1 further night was rather a challenge. Fitness room should be improved (not connected devices). The location ist really good (close to restaurants).

My recent stayed in Grand Mercure Beijing Dongcheng was absolutely disappointed for 3 reasons :1. Check in On Aug 18 at about 4 pm, took more than 30 minutes to secure my room . No upgrade no welcome fruits despite being Accor Gold member . 2. Booked and paid for Club Executive floor but there was no services, was told club floor was closed .3. Check out on Aug 23rd , took more than 30 minutes to check out, and worst scenario of which I was told my name was not in the system ? I had asked for a Printed copy of the invoice / or statement of account and that by surprised no name ( blank ) ? 4. 9 days agter returned to Malaysia I had checked my membership record again to my surprised no record shown my stayed from Aug 22 to 23rd ?

My stay was only five days, the washroom in my room was in maintainance for three days, I called the room service number for washroom problems and the clerk who responded me was extremely rude and hanged up my phone in a very impatient manner. I told concierge about this problem, none of them took my response seriously. It was my worst hotel experience ever!

« Does not worth the price at all »

This Grand Mercure Hotel cost me ¥800 per night. 1. 10 minutes after I went in the room, I found the air conditioner didn’t provide enough cool air so I set the temperature to 15 Celsius degree. 20 minutes after that it was still hot in the room so I called the help center. They asked me what the room temperature shown on the termostat was and I told them it was 24 Celsius degree after 30 minus. I asked if I could change to another room and they said every room has the same central air conditioning and no. 2. The fitness room is smaller than a stander room. It’s like 25 sq. ft. How the heck is this hotel a 4/5 star hotel? I switched to Renaissance by Marriot after 2 nights. There is a 2000 sq. ft. fitness center and their service was so much better. It cost ¥1000 per night but it was so worth it compared to this Grand Mercure.

« I like the big room size and room setup. »

Staying at the hotel for two-day business meeting. The room size is excellent for the price and location in Beijing; and, the meeting facility is good. However, for the room I couldn't find laundry bag that I can put my dirty clothes; and, the flatscreen TV on the wall is between sofa and bed, neither spot can see the TV comfortably. In addition, the wifi speed is very poor, which affected work as we are there for business meetings. In addition, I didn't feel very welcomed at check-in/check-out. Nothing really stand-out comparing to 3-star or 4-star hotels. I even saw there's towel and lemon water sitting on the counter near front desk. But, no one offered me, which means the hotel staff is not well trained.

« One of your staff made a huge difference to my stay »

Overall the stay was good - my first night unfortunately wasn't good because of all the stuff that was left behind by the housekeeping outside of my room. It is never pleasant to go to your room with clusters around your room door. I did speak to a lady named Vivian who worked at the front desk and who was also the one who checked me in - she immediately took note of the issue the same day and ensured my reservation for my rest of the stay will be better. I have to say she did make it a lot better and I really appreciated the gesture your hotel and your staff Vivian gave me. I do agree that your staff overall do not have a warm gesture towards the guests but Vivian is an exception and I think you should start recognizing poeple like her. You require people like her in order to make the hotel better and where guests want to come back.

The hotel is clean, the facilities are generally well looked after. The hotel is situated 5 minutes from Beijing Subway, the surrounding area is not bad, walking distance to Lama Temple, Supermarket, fast food outlets and restaurants. Staff members are very polite and helpful.

This hotel is really nice. I stayed in duluxe room with twin bed. Luxuary and all facilities are good. Hair drier, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, towel and shower towel are given! Bed is extra comfortable^^
