I stayed here for one night on a work trip. The hotel was booked on my behalf by the organisation I was visiting in Brisbane. The location is great, less than 10 minutes walk from the CBD shopping area. It was a quiet street, with a big balcony with a lovely view over parkland. I arrived before the official checkin time, and was flustered as my flight had been delayed and I was arriving a couple of hours later than expected. I had to get organised quickly and change into a suit to go and make a presentation. Even though my room wasn't ready, the reception manager rearranged bookings to give me a room immediately. This was enormously helpful and made a stressful day much better. My room was clean and comfortable. It had a living room, kitchen, laundry room, bathroom and bedroom. I ended up using the microwave and kitchen facilities to make dinner that night, and everything worked fine. My bed was comfortable with a good mattress and pillows. The only thing I had trouble with was accessing wifi, but this might have been because I was so tired that I didn't try hard enough. If you're a member of the Accor loyalty club, they give you free wifi but I hadn't thought to ask about this when I checked in. When I later mentioned my wifi difficulties, the receptionist gave me a code -- which I'm sure would have worked perfectly if I hadn't fallen asleep before I got around to using it! I'd definitely stay here again. You should too!

The stay was excellent, the room and view comfortable and appealing, restful, pre and post meetings all day away from the unit. Dear Sebel Quay West, My room was perfectly nice, with no cleanliness issues at all. The bed was comfortable, although the I had to request a smaller pillow from reception as all of the ones in the room were far too large (and didn't seem to be of a particularly high quality, although that may just be my personal preference for feather/down pillows). The only real complaint I have that I really think you need to think seriously about is the internet. I could not fathom that in 2018 you can charge $25 a day for a small amount of slow internet. I purchased three days' worth for $50, but honestly, 2 GB of data and a slow download speed simply aren't good enough. The user interface for purchasing the internet was also horribly out of date, and there was so easily apparent way to monitor your use of the limited quantity of data. Overall, it was one of the worst internet experiences I can remember having, and I would stay somewhere different in Brisbane next time based on this alone, given that there aren't any other significant points of difference for the Sebel Quay West other than the rooms being spacious and having balconies. I hope this feedback is helpful and will be taken in the spirit of constructive feedback, as it is intended. Regards Gabor

The hotel overall is OK - however, the rooms require an update for the rate charged. The room I was allocated was rather run down, the shower leaked onto the floor and the cistern in the toilet was broken and constantly ran. Of most concern was the door lock, which I was not advised did not lock behind you. This led to me leaving the door unlocked for a period whist I was out of the hotel. Fortunately nothing was stolen but I subsequently felt very unsafe as a lone female traveller in my room.

Generally poor from the start, right through our entire stay, especially for alleged 5-star accommodation charging between $350-$400 per night. It was more like a slightly higher than normal standard motel: cleaning and basic maintenance seems not to be regularly undertaken; staff appear to have not been trained properly in how to make guests feel welcome and valued, or if they have, the need to continually do this is not instilled as a core principle by management. On arrival, no one to assist with getting our bags inside. Check-in staff member very unfriendly and unwelcoming (but I wouldn't say he was rude), and no one to assist with getting bags to our room. I was informed that no-one staffs the customer service desk after 11pm. Most staff encountered during our stay avoided making eye contact and as a result did not speak or make you feel welcome. Room very old and outdated, and not particularly clean, with stains easily visible on the couch and lounge chair. Rug on the floor in the lounge room was disgustingly dirty, but due to the shaggy nature of the rug, this was only noticeable upon further close inspection due to tidying up after our toddler. Couch, being a sofa bed, was very uncomfortable to sit on, with the front edge very compressed, making you feel like you were leaning forward, rather than sitting back and relaxing, as you should feel on a couch. Microwave oven reminiscent of the 1980's with a timer dial rather than a key pad. Kitchen cupboards not particularly clean and in very poor condition. 4 guests staying in the room, but only a full set of cutlery for 1 person, with varying numbers of each piece of cutlery (e.g. 1 teaspoon, 2 table knives). Not sure how long the minibar items had been there, but an unopened glass bottle of coke was completely flat when opened. The cot was a portacot, and the mattress in it was very hard and not conductive to getting a toddler to sleep in an unfamiliar environment. Pillows very uncomfortable; not thick enough to use just one, but not thin enough to use two. Standard of housekeeping appalling: housekeeping staff rushing us and telling us "only short hours today, we have to be quick"; tea, coffee and sugar not replaced once during our stay; neither toilet cleaned at all during our 6 night stay; bath not cleaned either, even through it had an easily seen grimy ring around it after the first night. Unsure if the showers were cleaned, but would suspect not based on what had and hadn't been cleaned in the bathrooms. No seal at the bottom of the shower door to stop water leaking out on to the bathroom floor. Lint trap on dryer did not attach properly and would randomly fly off when in use. Very noisy air conditioner, so much so that it could not be used. Spa on the pool deck not working, a situation that has apparently not been rectified since at least April 2017. The positives. Nice, comfortable and very large king size bed (maybe super king?). The toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body-wash) were lovely. Amazing views from the balconies. Great location. Toiletries and cleaning products were replaced daily. Nice, compact Smeg dishwasher.

The staff make it an enjoyable place to stay, the property is kept clean, the furnishings are all good in the apartment. It would be nice if the internet was more reliable, it does drop out or go painfully slow at times.
